DESCRIPTION

The Black Jack is a modified Light-Freighter. It was originally owned by a pirate captain but confiscated by the Empire. Instead of being scrapped for parts or used for target practice, it was assigned to a young sub officer of the Imperial Republica Navy. Zane Knox took the controls from here and is using the ship to carry out missions for the Empire and hopefully gain enough notes to one day be promoted or given command of an actual Imperial Navy ship.

When created, this ship had a modest cargo space, but after a quick upgrade attained by the previous pirate owner, the cargo space was reduced significantly to add more passenger space.

The ship is armed with a dual light laser cannon, on the dorsal side giving the freighter a good way of defending itself against smaller craft. The cannons are too light to do any major damage to anything other than a star fighter who comes too close, but can be easily upgraded to dual medium laser cannons which pack a mightier punch against larger ships like other freighters and gunships, with the right tech upgrades, of course. The hull offers many positions for other weaponry installments making it the key ship for most smugglers or pirates.

On the front ventricle of the ship, looks like a heavier cannon, but is in fact part of the sensors equipped to the ship.

The ship also has light shields equipped.

A crew of one is able to pilot and function the ship but at a much smaller capability than with a full crew.

When fully equipped and manned, she could be converted into either a powerful defensive support ship or gunship to any fleet. This will take much time and many tech upgrades to accomplish but is a mighty goal to attain.

So do I just take the Nexus part out? When I see other people re-skin stuff, the pic they use does not look anything like the original either.

Take the nexus part out, or use a similar picture to the original ship.

Most of the time people reskin they call it a different class/model altogether. So they don't run into this issue when they use a different picture.

If this ship is of the same class, it needs to resemble the ship of the same class

The entire description looks like it is basically the same as the description of the Nexus, if that is the case then it'll need to be rewritten. And the actual model of this ship will need its own write-up before you make a gentech post for a specific ship from that class. Like the armament in the image doesn't match the description, can't be a direct reskin of the Nexus if armament doesn't match.

No, I mean the very recognizable guns. I don't think you can handwave guns away by saying they are sensors that look like guns.

Also, as to your comment to Auto, we know that it was supposed to be based on the Nexus, but it isn't as it looks entirely different from the Nexus. So this isn't a Nexus class ship. It's a different ship model altogether and what Auto is asking that there needs to be a write-up for the model itself. Once that is there then this can be used as a ship from that model.

There probably are, but in all those cars you'll also find a write-up somewhere for the base model ship. No one is saying you can't use the image, or this ship. Just that you also do a write-up for the actual model of this ship as well.

This write-up is for your ship, one ship of this particular model. Say you start upgrading the ship, you'll add modifications to this write-up. But if someone else also wants a ship of this same make and build, they would no longer have a baseline ship write-up to refer. Submitting a write-up for the base ship allows us to track the base specs of the model and enable other people to use it if they want to.
