The life detection sensors reported about the expected presence on the Exogorth EX-1 Mining Vessel. At best thirty-seven members of the ship were expected to be on board, and the number on the terminal's screen showed fifty-one, which is slightly more. That meant the pirates on board outnumbered the rescue team.

Jayscreec Alecwit keyed the mining ship's frequency and initiated contact. "This is Agent Alecwit of the Imperial Navy. In the name of the Emperor, I hereby order you to put down your weapons and turn in yourselves. Your leaders will be charged according to the severity of their crimes; those who followed will be permitted to leave, given the mining ship's crew members are unharmed." Jay said. He released the button and turned his head to his crew. "Let's go, we are just giving them more and more time to execute hostages."

The boarding party used the hatch of the cargo opening to enter the mining ship. The agent wore his Imperial Covert Dress with his rank-plaque proudly pinned to his chest. He held his CZ MSBR, not really expecting heavily armored soldiers or droids upon entry, just to show off.

Quolon and a fellow Jedi had been growing bored. They had reached a gap in their duties and found they had little to do. The distress signal was a welcome distraction, and they did not need to be told twice to locate the source. Their mission was simple, destroy the mercenaries, free the captive miners. He frowned at the sight of the life detector on his ship. The number had increased. "Check your life detection" He said over comms to Rohana. "Unless mine is going haywire, I don't we'll be the only boarding party". They neared the ship, as he prepared to hail the vessel, he picked up the warning from an unknown voice. They definitely were not alone.

He wasn't sure what the best course of action was, dd they too announce their presence and intention? Two boarding parties might encourage the pirates to execute hostages. Then again, the two parties might be able to work together. Although that was hardly likely considering, from the warning message his ship had picked up, they were Imperial. His ship was in docking range.
"What do you think? Do we tell announce ourselves or not?"

Rohana didn't like this, not one bit. She had better things to do than cross weapons with a horde of mercenaries. But, apparently, the powers that be decided otherwise and thought it right to send her along with another Jedi. The pale lady wasn't familiar with Jedi Dox - she partly wondered if he himself was familiar with her less than pleasant reputation. No matter, the sooner they dealt with the matter, the better.

It would have been simple enough if an Imperial naval vessel hadn't appeared. Rohana's teeth clenched sharply - though a Jedi must not hate, she had nothing but contempt for the Empire. She half a mind to completely disregard the announcement and attack.

It was the Empire's navy that had attacked her homeworld. She felt the action would be justified. But, Rohana restrained herself. A Jedi did not act out the selfishness. The needs of others outweighed the few. She'd save her scorn and spite for another time.

"The Empire had a nasty habit of shooting first and asking questions later. Best to announce ourselves and offer aid; they would foolish to refuse." It left a bad taste in her mouth, the very thought of working in collaboration with these dogs. Still, leaving the hostages to the mercy of ravagers was equally displeasing. How did that saying go? Better the devil you know...

Time was of the essence; Rohana made her choice and opened a communication channel. "This is Lady Feyre of the Galactic Alliance; you're outnumbered in this endeavor - we offer our aid. You would be wise to accept it."

They could sort out the politics later; lives were at stake. Even if the Imperial agent refused, Rohana had every intent of boarding that mining vessel.

Karla Sang was a space pirate.

Now that sounded grand and exciting and profitable right? Well it was sometimes. Sometimes her marks were juicy - payroll ships for the Empire or for local branches of the banking clans, things like that. Those scores were the big time and when they came it she celebrated hard!

Like by buying herself more pistols!

Karla liked pistols.

To the point that she was armed with three quickdraw pistols and only a single vibroblade actually. She was rather found of the quickdraw and even more fond of being able to just draw a new pistol rather than reload. Who had time for reloading these days? But right now she only had one prize.

A bloody mining vessel.

Groaning in boredom as her crew worked over the captain, Karla reclined atop her personal droid... a droid she had managed to capture after it had been finally broken into by a load of scientists. They hadn't known what to do with it and she had managed to get it working for her but there was a self-destruct built into it that would explode very violently should she not bypass it every few hours... and she was the only one left alive who knew how to bypass it.

She had the rest of her crew, a solid ten pirates armed with basic blaster rifles, along with herself and the droid in the main cargo hold. She eyed her surroundings, idly twirling one of her pistols as she did so.

Higher ups in the Imperial Navy reached out to Jayscreec about a United Protectorate joint operation. It took a few minutes until it clicked. "We have expected your assistance under United Protectorate flags," he said, then started to brief them. "Nothing good about these people. I can't say much, but for your safety, you should know-- Likely, they are dealing with explosives. Join me if you still want t--" He swallowed the degrading comments.
The agent removed his rank plaque and hid any documents that included names on the ship. He used provided military encryptions on the datapads and terminals cautiously. He even covered his face with his rebreather. He brought both of his long weapons and his blaster pistol, using two slings and a holster on his thick tactical belt. He rested his hand on his sidearm, his body-stance showed confidence. He was the face of the Empire here. He had to show them their superiority. "Agent Alecwit of the Imperial Navy," he introduced himself personally. "So. Whoever captured this mining craft refuse to talk. Do you know basic military tactics, breach and clear kind of things? Because I feel like we will be doing it here a lot. And we'll need to do it good, you want to keep the crew alive." Jayscreec briefly examined the duo, narrowing his eyebrows. "I will take care of the explosives if we come up on them. About ready to go?"

Quolon shakes his head when Rohana made her announcement. He was not in the least bit familiar with this jedi, but it seemed tact and diplomacy was definitely not her strong point. When the Agent replied he rolls his eyes. "Yes, we are perfectly familiar, Agent" He spits back, unable to keep a hint of venom out of his tone. They exit their ships and the dock on the vessel. He was right, explosives would be present and he had no idea who the person behind this was and how willing they would be to set them off. It made sense for them to get to the cargo hold, rescue the captors and bring the perpetrators to justice.

They made their way through the ship. No doubt the pirates knew they were coming and they were outnumbered so they'd have to think on their feet. Their main target was the leader, once they were apprehended, the rest of the crew would most likely come quietly. He has to admit he feel uncomfortable with the Imperial Agent, but sometimes you had to make unlikely friends to achieve a goal. He just hoped his fiery companion wouldn't make the situation any more tense than it already was.

Paying no heed to Dox's disapproval, or his presence in general, Rohana made a move to advance on the target. If it were any consolation, she gave the imperial agent even less acknowledgment. If the pale lady could have it her way, she'd have little to no interaction with either of these acquaintances; Rohana wasn't exactly well known for her cohesive abilities. Endeavors such as this were vital in tempering that flaw. Even now, the Jedi was able to recognise the consequences that came with solitary action. If she charged into this alone, she'd likely fail. Anyone would.

For now, cooperation would be an unfortunate necessity.

"We should move quickly, gain ground and secure it." They needed this assault to maintain its momentum; the longer the delay, the more time the enemy had to counter and strategise.

"Agent, perhaps your men should act as the vanguard." That would then allow Dox and Rohana to support; it would also allow the pair the opportunity to gauge their enemies capabilities and adjust any opposing measures. If the Imperials ran into difficulty, the two Jedi could act the reinforcement.

While Jayscreec was a good guy in the Empire's eyes, the two Jedi could probably sense his somewhat corrupted soul. He carried a lot in his heart, and remembered some of the unfortunate collateral damage they brought during some hard missions. His thoughts were clean though, they were flowing in his head in patterns. This agent was a strategist with an always buzzing mind.

So far the information present lacked value, the joint team has not received reconnaissance or other intel. Jayscreec felt like they were about to walk into a trap, so he activated his rebreather, just in case anyone tried to gas him. He agreed with the two strangers, but he had no choice but to leave his man behind. He was alone on this mission. "I'm a one man army kind of thing." Completely alone. "Trust me, I've done this before. I have got a droid on my ship, keeping the engine running. So why don't you send your men inside first?"

Taking lead, Jayscreec quickly pushed into the engineering bay of the area with his CZ MSBR held high. He had good finger discipline, he kept it above the trigger to avoid shooting a hostage or any innocents. Once the room was cleared, he carefully opened the lockers where explosives were usually kept.

No wonder the Eclipse let them fly into the vessel without a battle. "So smart, the blastdoor is locked," Jay said as he advanced towards the next room. He grabbed a concealed item, and revealed to his new partners the computer spike, used to slice into similar terminals. "This ship's system should not be taking long. If anyone's inside, you take the point. I'll cover you."

He sensed danger behind the blast door. With a sideways glance at the agent as he slices the system, he takes point in front of the agent. He doesn't ask Rohana to join him, even if he did he has a suspicion she wouldn't listen anyway. They would stay on the defensive. It would be foolish to go charging in without knowing how many there were. He would act as a shield, with the Agent suppressing the enemy with blaster fire. He hoped that him ignoring Rohana will help her realise that they needed to communicate on a dangerous mission such as this. Maybe a test of her own medicine was what she needed. The blast door opened.

Quolon is met with heavy blaster fire. He keeps his elbows close to his ribs and weaves his saber this way and that, keeping himself safe and offering small cover to his comrades. Some bolts are returned to the aggressor and are meant with a brief scream and a thud. He squinted through the chaos. Not noticing any hostages, or indeed and apparent leader. It seemed to him that these men were simply under orders to act as guards of the hostages. That meant two things. They would have to clear the room, and that the hostages couldn't be far. He knew it seemed too easy.

Now he knew what he was up against, he leapt forward. He hoped his charge would encourage the others to advance. As he lands, a pirate is crushed underneath his blade. He caught a thermal detonator thrown in his direction with the force, pushing it back toward a pair of pirates, who are killed in the ensuing blast. While the three cut through the pirates, the door the other side of the room opened. Reinforcements had been sent. The trio were forced onto their back foot and into cover. They were now even more out numbered and the odds had tipped out of their favour rapidly. Someone really didn't want them to rescue the hostages. Something told Quolon this wouldn't be the easy job he had thought it would.

In the cargo hold, an area not yet touched by the attackers, Karla growled as she received updates on the state of the rest of the ship. Apparently someone had decided to raid the ship... and was doing a pretty poor job of saving any of the cargo or any of the crew considering she had all of both firmly under her control.

"Kark this shite."

She took the rifle from one of her men and gunned down the ship's captain and the remaining crew with cold efficiency before shoving the rifle back into the arms of her guy.

"Grab some good shite boys and girls - we're blowing this place!"

Karla's own exit was secure - her galleon was attached to the cargo hold via it's docking tube. She gestured and her crew began to make for the exit even as she got her team to begin to activate the bomb she had prepared. It would take out a huge chunk of the ship and space the rest.

Just had to activate it.

I'm getting sick of you avoiding combat with the actual threat of this thread guys. You're on watch now - Two posting rounds from now (another two posts from me in order) the bomb will explode.

Feeling the tension in the air, Rohana made a move to act. Time was waning and so was her patience. They had lost the element of surprise; now, there was likely to be fierce opposition, maybe even a trap - Rohana expected nothing less, especially from pirate scum.

"Time for action, gentleman. Talking is getting us nowhere." She then advanced, without further consulting either of the two as to her plans. The pirates were likely in the cargo hold, it was the largest part of the ship and therefore the largest ground to occupy. There would their battleground.

Activating her saber, Rohana stabbed the blue blade straight through the locked the large locked containment doors. Her movements were rough and jagged, precision wasn't needed the carve out a sizable hole. But rather Rohana didn't charge, not yet at least - using the force, she instead gave the door a mighty shove and sent it flying through the air, hoping into the pirates' ranks.

With that, she made a dash for cover, moving on the defensive, fast and fierce - she just hoped her companions would move just a swift.

Rohana was right, the time came for action. Jayscreec tailed her with his CZ MSBR held high ready until they reached the last area. While the Jedi shoved her lightsaber into the door, Jayscreec prepared the two concussion grenades he had. "I am throwing two bangers," Jayscreec said. "Storm inside once they went off." As Rohana removed the door Jayscreec threw both grenades into the room, as promised.

Jayscreec had cleared about five interiors with hostages during his service. He knew it was impossible to always save everyone. Many things he saw on the Mining Vessel came unexpected.

During tactical breaches Jayscreec's senses sharpened. From whatever direction Rohana entered the room, Jayscreec instinctively took the opposite direction. With the Jedi they had each-other's back. He realized the hostages had been executed immediately, and acted according to that. Everyone was their target, he would shoot anyone whose hands weren't in the air. He aimed at Karla Sang's Mark II Automatic Conqueror Slaughteroid's chest. As he exhaled he pulled the trigger, firing a two-shot burst.

Karla had to say one thing and one thing only - bringing a Jedi into a battle was just not fair. Already they were breaking through the door and her men were already most of the way to her ship when the door was broke open. She swore as two of her men were crushed by the door even as she drew her second pistol.

She wasn't about to just lay down out of pity like she was the canandian girlfriend of one of these weaklings. She was going to make sure they worked for this!

She spun around to hide behind the droid, using it as cover to avoid the effects of the grenade and keep her safe from the blaster shots. The shots slammed into the droid and damaged it's chest area quite badly but it wasn't out yet. The droid opened fire with it's inbuilt weapons, firing three shots at Jayscreec as Karla leaned out around the side of the droid to fire four shots at him from her dual wielded quickdraw pistols.

The way Karla felt and cursed didn't touch Jayscreec. She had chosen to go down this way. It looked like she left no miners to save. The only bargaining tool she had was lost. This was no longer a rescue mission. Jayscreec was going to kill her, no matter what the Jedi or anyone else says.

His first shot burned through the droid's plating at it's chest. With a metallic screech the second shot pitched up as that damaged the inner systems. Yet the Slaughterdroid stood. Jayscreec assumed it would mean less trouble now, until they both fired at him at the same time.

Jayscreec clenched his teeth, hoping his teammates could finish the others, while he took care of the main enemies. Quickly he dashed to his side and hit the ground, while his suit soaked the shots that didn't miss. His flesh was burning, but he didn't feel it due the adrenaline. Now, he realized that the droid and Karla were lined up neatly. She revealed herself. Explicitly for the CZ MSBR, he fired again and again two bursts of two blaster bolts.

"DIE ALREADY!"

Karla swore as the Imperial dived out of the way to come at her from the side. There wasn't much she could do to take him out from that angle but there was still one thing she could do to avoid being blasted into pieces. Rather that staying where she was, she instead moved around the side of her droid again, using the big machine as cover.

Of course that meant the droid took the four shots meant for her but really, what did she care? The thing was a droid she had managed to salvage from a junk trader - there was literally no reason for it to exist other than to soak up hits for her.

Using the smoke pouring off of the droid as a smokescreen to block Jay's view of her, Karla grinned as she made a break for her ship. Unlike Jay, she didn't need to kill him.

All she needed to do to win was get the hell out of there.

That scary-looking droid got what it was coming. As a pile of wreck it seemed friendlier. Jayscreec emptied his blaster rifle's power pack in the fight. Then, he lost time against Karla by securing the room, full of dead. When Jayscreec noticed she disappeared, he dashed outside to find her.

Running through the spaceship with his blaster drawn, Jayscreec fired into a lot of computers. Pretending it's still a chase, getting rid of their horrible results' evidence was still something worth thinking off. If only he knew about Karla's tool. He ran of ammo again, unfortunately when he stumbled into the pirate.

In the momentum Jayscreec threw his powered vibro-bayonet, aimed at Karla's center mass. Jayscreec didn't even care if she'd give up, she could even get so injured that she would die. In the Imperial Navy, such things didn't matter that much. In the United Protectorate, it would probably matter a great deal later.

At last the fight was over, but the pirate had made a break for it. He looks up to see the Imperial follow in pursuit. He had no ideas what his intention were having caught her, but at this point he knew the Alliance would rather have her alive than dead. She probably had information they would want, besides she had shown herself to be reckless and would no doubt meet her end at some point if she escaped. Perhaps she could even be disciplined and could even help the Alliance. No doubt she had valuable leadership and combat skills. She wouldn't be a captain otherwise. He considered beckoning Rohana to follow him but no doubt she would ignore him. So he follows the Imperial in pursuit of the pirate, blade still drawn. she was not going get off this ship.

Karla was so karking sick of these buggers.

They come in with their chests thrust out, chins held high and their guns on full auto to do a rescue mission, fail miserably, and now they were going to try and hunt her down for... what? To kill her? To hide their own shite handling of the situation?

She would honestly not be surprised if it were a mixture of the two.

Fortunately for her, her ship was still attached to the mining vessel by the cargo hold due to it's hull cutter. While Jay ran down some corridors shooting up PCs (why, she had no idea), Karla merely laughed as she made the straight line run to the docking tube attached to the cargo hold. No corridors necessary.

She stepped into the docking tube and sealed the door behind her with a solid hiss. Her ship would begin to fly off almost immediately, leaving the alliance and imperial soldiers to deal with the fact that there was now an empty hole in the hull of the ship.

@Ediwa @NotSarcastic

OOC - Dashing outside a room to find someone who's running to one wall of that room is a terrible way of chasing said person, meaning your attack would have no chance of being anywhere near her @Ediwa . Since you followed him, I'm afraid you're not in a better situation either @NotSarcastic - Karla is out of there and now you're on a ship leaking atmo so... best do something about that :P

Everybody felt Karla's ship pulling out. As soon as she took off the whole game changed. Jayscreec realized he lost the pirate. He could only hope his partners did their job right, - or got more luck, - until he looked over his shoulder. "Hey where--" Jayscreec shouted at Quolon, but the hull began to tilt. "Go! Go! Get off the vessel! We can't go back for her, too dangerous!" He sprinted towards his ship, even faster than before. This time Jayscreec raced for his life, not for taking someone's. A whole different way of seeing things.

If they didn't run the wrong way in the first place, they could be so far from their ships that they could likely die. The Eclipse won the fight, but not the war.

Jayscreec didn't know yet the mining ship would also blow up. He barely reached his ship and immediately took off. The pirate ship disappeared from the scanners. A few details remained, enough information to follow up with a bounty later.
