As the Jedi Knights prepare a more aggressive campaign against the Sith, there remains a collection of preliminary problems that continue to complicate their efforts. One of these issues is regarding the supplies being transferred from Tython to Lothal, and the journey they must make to arrive safely.

Reports of pirates have been received along the Rimman Trade Route in the Outer Rim. It is becoming an issue for merchant vessels in the area, and now for the Jedi. An important shipment of equipment needs to be delivered to the Tython temple in preparation for the insurgency against the Sith, but manpower restraints prevent the Jedi from providing a full escort. Several incidents have happened in sector M-18, where the Rimman Trade Route and the Hydian Way intersect—to take another route would add a tremendous amount of time to the journey. Furthermore, this presents an opportunity to show the traders of the Outer Rim that the Jedi are allies, not just another militant force.

Who’s up for some boarding action?

Hi, guys! I need two Jedi to RP with, because this ship isn't going to obliterate itself. Besides, have you ever met a mentally unstable Jedi? I bet you haven't. C'mon, it'll be a hoot.

Post below with your character's profile link. I know there's only two spots, so if this gets attention and we have more people clamoring for this stuff, I'll crap out more of it for the others. Let's go poke a hole in this bad boy and see what we can see!

BOARDING ACTION
OBJECTIVE: Travel to Sector M-18 and conduct a search for these pirates. A holopic of the alleged pirate craft is included in this docket. Find the criminals and dissuade or eliminate them, allowing free trade through the sector once again. An infiltration kit, which includes a magnetic pressure suit for each participant and a man-portable hull-cutting laser, will be provided. Knight Dol-Haddon will take command of this mission.

NEEDED: 3 Jedi Knights

ROSTER:General Sihkar Tarei (Elijah Brockway), Knight Joffoc Dol-Haddon (Tribunal Power), Knight Coryn Del (prariedog), Padawan Shasa Myn (Pete)

Yeah, I'm down. I'd imagine Coryn's Padawan would tag along, too; since she's just started training, I don't know if you'd want to consider her a fully fledged member of the operation or not.

All checked in!
In regards to the paddie, not sure it would make sense for a 14 year old padawan that fresh to be on this particular mission. If that changes your decision, let me know.

I expected a more observatory role out of her, not specific engagement. If that doesn't work, that's fine; they were very recently put together, so it could in theory take place in the time before Del takes on Shasa as her Padawan - though I'd like to bring her along if possible.

EDIT: Just for the record, from the JK rank thread: "Despite their young age and incomplete training, Padawans are capable combatants, thoroughly trained in the ways of the Force to a considerable degree. They are a deadly force in their own right as they seek to bring justice to the galaxy, and they are not to be underestimated."

It is a time of war, after all - or very much on the cusp of one. Makes sense to me that a Padawan would be allowed to participate in this assignment.

I of course did not mean to sell padawans short; it's just hard to imagine Jedi leadership sending a 14 year old on a combat mission. Still, I'm totally willing to include her (though you can expect some guff from Joffoc about it :P ) once Pete makes a post here.

@Pete, are you in?

Is it okay if I say General Sihkar's link is in my signature?

Because I'd like to jump in on this.

Besides, it could totally help provide a reason for the Padawan being there. Somehow.

We'll figure it out.

Glad to have you! I'll update shortly and begin preparing the opening post. Still need to see Pete check in before we start, but hopefully we can get it off the ground tonight!

Do we want to establish a general posting order based on who replies when?

After the first round of posts, we'll stick with that posting order.

Since you just posted, it would make sense for Pete to post next and finish with EB, but however it happens is fine for the first round.

So are we good to start moving this along on our own, or?

Sorry, guys! Work has been very demanding the past week and I haven't had time for much else. I am back to normal though and will have a post down tonight. I appreciate your patience!

As an aside, heightening vision - even infrared - isn't the same as x-ray vision. You can definitely hide from a trandoshan.

At best, having infrared sight would be helpful in, like, a dense jungle, or in low-light settings.

I'm talking about the low light, specifically. Unless you're hidden relatively well, they've got a good chance of seeing you - for example, if you're just hiding next to one object, under an overhang of it, in the darkness specifically, like I garnered from Tribunal's post. =P

That, and if whatever you're around doesn't radiate heat to hide what is coming off of you, then there's that to consider, as well - you'd probably have to actually be in something or otherwise have the Trandoshans' sight be completely obstructed to avoid them noticing that, if they were actually paying attention.

I'd say the number one rule of stealth would be avoiding direct line-of-sight with the person you're hiding from, yeah? The heat isn't going to radiate through an object of any considerable thickness, unless you're just burning up. We also just came in from the cold mistress that is space, so there's that.

Protected with pressurized suits, that provided a good deal of insulation to protect us either from the extreme cold or the extreme heat should any major light source come upon us. =P

But yeah, my thought is basically that - so long as you're avoiding direct line of sight with whoever is looking for you, that'll work fine and dandy for-sure with low visible light conditions; but if there's any space where your body heat can radiate that could be visible around what you're hiding in (like, say, if there are gaps in what you're hiding in that somebody could see you through with visible light if they got close), then they could possibly (probably) see you a lot better with infrared vision than they might with visible light.
