The Jedi Order

Intent:
To create another vehicle for the Jedi Order that would add a bit more variety other than "lumbering murder dog" by acting more as a scout or mobile heavy weapon in hit and runs that would be synonymous with the Jedi's underdog status in the war. It is my hope this lighter quicker vehicle will add more chances for strategy and roleplaying on the battlefield whilst still being heavy enough to realistically compete with other units.

Model/Name:
JO-3 Crippler Assault Tank

Type:
Vehicle - Light Tank

Weapons::

  • (8) Light Laser Cannons (Front Turrets)
  • (1) Ion Cannon (Top Turret)
  • (1) Anti-Personal Missile Rack (6 missiles) (Top Turret)
Equipment:

  • Military Grade Sensor Suite
  • Military Grade Targeting and Fire Control Systems
  • Encrypted Communications Suite
  • Military Grade Navigational System
  • Life Support Systems N-C-B
  • Repulsorlift Drive
  • Side, Rear, Back, and Front Thrusters
  • Basic Med and Survival Kit
  • Primary Power Packs
  • Secondary Power Packs

Crew:
Pilots: 1
Gunner: 1-2

Size:
The JO-3 is approximately 6 meters long, 4 meters tall, and 3 meters wide.

Composition:
Durasteel, duraplast and titanium are what composes most of the JO-3. Overall however, it is spread rather thinly, enough only to provide protection against small and medium arms fire. The thickest layers are around the pilot and gunner areas, hoping to provide a decent chance of survival in case of any unlucky heavy hits.

JO-3 Crippler Tank

Description: The less militaristic Jedi Order has been at a distinct disadvantage when compared against the full powerhouses of the Sith and Mandalorians. Thus they have learned the importance of quick hit and run attacks rather than actually trying to duke it out with their more militarily established opponents. This is the primary purpose behind the development of the JO-3 Assault Tank, which was hurriedly constructed after the fall of the Republic and Jedi were forced to take an even more active role than before in the war. The JO-3 is the third model, and is currently the one used by the Order. The first, and original, creation was originally only a souped up speeder with a turret welded on, made by an innovative inventor with a worry for defending himself and his home. Seeing moderate successes in the field, other civilians carried suite and eventually a more sophisticated version was noticed by a Jedi. Somewhat impressed, the Jedi created their own models, leading to the current tank in use today.

The JO-3'a primary weaponry consists of the numerous turreted blaster cannons (8) affixed to its front. These light cannons can pivot a full 180 degrees to cover both sides and the front of the tank and can even be pointed up slightly to fire on higher targets. When fired on mass, these weapons are absolutely devastating to any infantry and light vehicles in range, the sheer volume of fire is more than enough to dismantle entire squads. It is also normally equipped with an Ion cannon on its top, to give it options when facing heavier vehicles and to provide another means of disabling enemy units and structures. On top of that turret is a smaller revolving rack of missiles, placed to give the tank a way to cover its rear and provide extra firepower should it be needed. Obviously, the JO-3 is designed primarily with the focus of eliminating infantry and light vehicles, and would be hard pressed to destroy a heavier tank or walker. It can present a certifiable threat to enemy ships under the right conditions. eg a grounded ship, or one low enough to get caught in the JO-3's hail of blasterfire, but otherwise isn't particularly well suited towards fighting them either.

Made to be a compact and light attack vehicle, its crew is similarly compact, needing only a minimum of two people to drive and fire it. The pilot controls the tanks main movements from the front of the tank, while a gunner sits behind with a live feed from cameras on the tanks outside, specifically its guns. From there the gunner can operate all the turrets, both en mass or individually, including the big gun and missile rack if need be. A second gunner is preferred though, both to help keep direct the turrets and provide another set of hands for specific targeting in the case of a sudden unexpected threat. It should be noted however, that the pilot has no control of the guns whatsoever, his focus supposed to be only the tank's movements as the JO-3's comparatively fragile exterior is unforgiving of screw ups.

With being so heavily focused towards the lighter side of battle, one of the JO-3's more important qualities is its speed of movement, 120 km/hr, which allows it to engage and disengage at its leisure. Also equipped with side thrusters all around its body, the Crippler is not just fast, its agile, able to quickly rotate and dart in any direction at its pilots command. Its repulsorlift drive was specifically chosen to facilitate these quick movements, and to allay any fears of "getting stuck in the mud at bad moments." Be warned however, all this speed, agility, and rapid firepower comes with a severe drawback. Besides being lightly armored, the tank is exceedingly quick to eat its energy reserves, and is not meant for prolonged battle. It is highly recommended that operators set up support posts where they can recharge after a few attacks, somewhere close and convenient, as losing the ability to cover ground in this tank is paramount too suicide.
