Aks-Ree was one of the nastiest sons of so-and-so in the region, and the price on his head was bloated enough that Vespasian Reed and his merry band of scum, had been well and truly lured in by the prospect of taking him down. Indeed, so seriously was V taking this particular hunt, that he had done away with his normally foppish garments, and instead opted for something, a little more practical.

Brutus Assault Armour, accompanied by a DH-7 Blaster Pistol and a Vorantikus rifle, a pair of vibro-blades across his back. Naturally, so as not to be undone by their quarries superior speed, he had also come with an 88-v Ranger in which he now sat, and had encouraged his group to do likewise.

There plan was a simple one, hiding out in the mountains on one of the Red Talons popular routes, overlooking the MagLev rail which ran through the mountains. When the Talons went for the MagLev, V and his team would go for the Talons. It was, plain and simply, going to be an ambush. "Right then," he clicked on his commlink "Everyone, check in." he instructed the group, doing a quick roll-call before the mission got underway.

Theres was a dangerous game, but - if things went to plan which they never did - the payout could be collosal.

Another day, another bounty, this wasn't the first hunt Sunverkh had taken part of but it looked like it was going to be one of the most impressive ones, you don't get to hunt someone that has given the Mandalorians enough trouble to post a bounty on them instead of personally track him down, then again, the Mandalorians weren't as good as they thought in his opinion.

Sunverkh was positioned on the passenger seat of Vespasian's vehicle, wearing his bounty hunter armor, his e-33.blaster carbine on his hands, his blaster pistol on his hip, set to stun, and his vibroblade ready in case things got a little bit too personal, he carried two concussion grenades and two power packs as well, in case they were needed.

"Remember that our reward will be greater if we don't kill him, try not to put too many holesss in hisss vital organsss" Sunverkh said through his communication device, his helmet scrambling his words so no one outside of the group could hear what he was saying "But other than that, feel free to cripple him asss much asss you want ssso he cant get away" The Trandoshan bounty hunter added, a smile forming under his helmet "Letsss give 'em hell"

H5PAD was recruited for a bounty on a crime lord in the Mandalore Sector. While the assassin droid knew the risk of destruction was great, it calculated that the pay out was worth the risk after weighing the various probabilities of becoming inoperable. Brought in for his unique skillset, H5PAD never went into a contract without meticulous research on his target. When attempting to collect a bounty, pain-staking efforts to collect information was a necessity. The more information that H5PAD collected, the more the probability of success went up. Once he collected enough information and the success probability went high enough, H5PAD would accept the contract.

Using his scomp-link and computer spike extensively before he arrived, H5PAD acquired as much known information on the mark and his gang as he could. Information that was researched by the assassin droid included:

- Geographical Maps of Gargon
- Maglev routes and stops on Gargon
- Applicable weather reports
- Studies on the effects of weather on speeders/swoops and maglevs
- Historical raids conducted by the Red Skulls
- Dossier on Aks-Ree
- Armament and armor used by the Red Skulls and Aks-Ree when on vehicles
- Training received for the Red Skulls and Aks-Ree, including Mandalorian training
- Tactics employed by the Red Skulls and Aks-Ree
- Vehicles used by the Red Skulls
- Vulnerabilities and weaknesses of the vehicles used by the Red Skulls
- Extent of Red Skull criminal activities
- Extent of influence of Red Skulls on Gargon
- Allies to the Red Skulls
- Possible reinforcements that could aide the Red Skulls when attacked
- Psychological Profile on Aks-Ree
- Comprehensive examination of the Gran species, including known combat styles, known abilities, etc.
- Other species make-up within the Red Skulls
- Droid support within the Red Skulls

The list continued, but these were the highlights of his research.

Far away, hidden along the route was his ship, the Amalgama manned by his astrogation droid. The sole purpose of his ship hidden along the route was to use the ship’s passive sensors to possibly get an early detection of the band as it made its way along the maglev’s route. The astrogation droid would burst encrypted information that would give the vitals if it detected the gang. The transmission would be blended into the static of other channels, but to H5PAD and his processor, it would make sense of the message within the static. But if it did not detect them, it was acceptable to H5PAD. The primary objective for the ship was to not be discovered. Preparations were made ahead of time by having the ship painted to match the terrain from images. Its location was nestled at a high point in the mountains, but with plenty of cover to hide its presence. In H5PAD's estimation, the plan was hasty, risky and full of holes...however, those operations had a curious probability of being successful, albeit the percentage was low. But Hale processed that he could not take this bounty by himself, so the assassin droid endured the risk and tried to mitigate the risk where he could.

Vx7EpWR.png

H5PAD knelt down next to his 88-V Ranger at the most optimal point to be able to shift his position, visibility and engagement sightlines.

"Right then. Everyone, check in."

In his mechanical voice, H5PAD responded quietly, ”Hale, present and ready.”

PERSONALITY STATUS: ANALYTICAL

DIRECTIVES
PRIMARY – Detect the Red Skulls approach, complete with numbers and armament
SECONDARY – Avoid detection
TERTIARY – Contact “Vespasian” for next directive

Another member of their team checked in, based on the voice pattern, it was the trandoshan...

"Remember that our reward will be greater if we don't kill him, try not to put too many holesss in hisss vital organsss. But other than that, feel free to cripple him asss much asss you want ssso he cant get away. Letsss give 'em hell".

H5PAD didn't respond. He knew the stipulations and mused to himself that organics needed reminding on data. Rerunning the probability of success with the current team, H5PAD was not pleased at the current data. The assassin droid processed that he would have to step up in order for the group to reach a more favorable probability for success...

Aks-Ree was one of the most wanted sentient creatures in the Galaxy and he knew it.

Hence why when he was checking on his shipments, he made sure not to come alone and he made sure that the transport he was using wasn't defenceless. Indeed, the train he was riding in had two dual light blaster cannon turrets with men ready to fight off any opposition from the sides and behind. At the front was a larger cluster of two dual medium blaster cannon turrets as well. The train itself was heavily armoured and travelling quickly.

What helped him now, above all else, was simply this - he was criminal, he was a crime LORD. People didn't get to his level by being stupid and not being aware of the best ambush spots along his travel route was, in his opinion, rather stupid.

"I want the turrets ready and alert for speeders." he reported to his men in the turrets (two on top and one at the front) along with the two drivers, "You've all got a Strill each anyway so if anyone boards, you kill them. You all know the drill - we've run similar jobs ourselves and we will not be caught off guard."

He was stood in the most heavily armoured section of the train - the driver's carriage at the front - with one of his best men ( @Faded Truth ) beside him. Aks-Ree drew his own blaster pistols.

"Maybe someone will be brave enough to try the ambush today?" he spoke aloud, "Maybe today is a good day to murder some fools."

And if the fools had brought enough men to be an issue? Aks-Ree had his own 88V Ranger hidden away in the back carriage on the bottom level, for a good getaway.

Medium Beskargam armour with jump boots, scout HUD and whipcord thrower on left arm.
One vibrosword at the waist
One Strill Blaster Pistol - with one extra ammo pack
One Renegade Heavy Blaster Pistol - with one extra ammo pack
Two frag grenades attached to the back of the armour's belt

The Red Skull Gangs were a notorious criminal syndicate, and those intending to bring them down would have to be undeniably prepared for the intense risk at stake. The Pantoran enforcer was one of Aks-Ree best soldiers, he had been with the leader since the former purchased him from Zygerria as a teenager. Brutal and calculative, he too was prepared to make sure they didn't get caught off guard. Markus nodded towards his boss as commands were given, he too seated in the most armored section of the train: Driver's carriage at the front.

The Pantoran was dressed in his personalized Beskar'gam, Shriek-Hawk blaster in his arms while his strill pistol was stowed at his side. Two fragmentation grenades and standard vibroknife on his belt. His fingers twitching slightly, a sinister chuckle coming to his face, "Yeah, we haven't murdered any fools in a while, I'm starting to get those withdrawal symptoms.."

With com-link active next to them and through the transport vessel, he reinforced Aks-Ree's instructions. "You all heard what the Boss said, let's get to it..." Senses on alert as he leaned back in the chair, mentally preparing for any surprises that may be thrown their way.

Any sentient is thirsting for only three things in the world: food, sex, and danger. And while Lex was able to afford the first two, the last one seems to be a challenge during his last years as the mercenary. Most of his were business was delivering illegal goods and working as a bodyguard of non-human species he liked. He was lazy, too arrogant and irresponsible which sometimes cost him a contract, but once he met Jhess - it becomes his main goal now to get the respect of that fabulous Trandoshan. Lex knew, that these reptiles weren't too kind, but since Ringo worked with humans for almost whole his life, he hasn't seen anything bad at working on the Trandoshan gang. And besides - those reptiles were way pretty. Considering Jhess's height, he was... the cutest thing Lex has ever seen.

"Lex is steady and ready". Replied the human via comlink and simply followed by Vespasian Reed on his own 88-v. The vehicle wasn't difficult to operate, so Lex has almost no issues with it. Almost, because it was second or third time when he was riding it. Ringo wasn't too experienced at robbery or whatever this mission type was, however, he won't lose his chance to become a reliable partner of Sunverkh gang and thus wanted to show that he is ready for anything. He even doesn't care the fact the company has had the droid. But it seems like Jhess gang going to be the interesting thing in the Lex life.

"Hold on." V instructed his Trandoshan companion (@Versok) seated behind him, as the train came into view, moving past his viewing point. As its front carriage went beneath him, he kicked the speeder off the side with a small push of the engine, and angled the nose downward. When they where the other side of the train, nose down, he cut the engines - and the Speeder fell into a freefall as the train continued moving forward.

Hammering down the length of the mountain, engines off, V counted the seconds, and then, as the speeder passed the topward facing side of the second-from-last carriage, he thumbed the controls, the engine roaring into life. Much better. Underneath the last carriage of the train, he tapped the brakes, hoping the trains own engine sound would mask their approach, and gently maneuvered to the underside and rear of the train, where the top rear mounted turret could not target them. Signalling for his companion to board, V clenching his fist, and then jabbed it forward to signal the move.

AD67, his astrogation droid, sent a message to H5PAD revealing the coordinates and velocity of the maglev. Fortunately, AD67 relayed this information well before the maglev reached the “ambush point”. Quickly calculating time/velocity/distance, the assassin droid came to his feet and mounted his 88-V Ranger, all of his weaponry secured about his metal frame. Punching the throttle on the speeder bike, he maneuvered himself far around the mountain range to where he could approach the maglev from below and from the port side of the train. From the data he had from the geography, he already knew his approach vector which put him far beneath the train, approaching from a slender valley perpendicular to the moving maglev, out of line of sight to any of the mounted turrets.

PERSONALITY STATUS: ANALYTICAL

DIRECTIVES
PRIMARY – Approach rear of the train from the underbelly on its port side undetected
SECONDARY – Board the maglev undetected
TERTIARY – Gain access inside the train undetected

Calculating that he was 2.76543 seconds behind schedule, H5PAD slammed down the accelerator, streaking through the relatively straight valley that crossed underneath the maglev path moments away from the train. Seeing the train approaching the valley far above him, H5PAD hit the accelerator, going straight up in the air. It was a straight shot, but the stabilizers were rattling trying to keep the speeder bike stable during its ascent. As it approached the underbelly, the assassin droid corkscrewed the 88-V and took the acceleration to match the calculated speed of the maglev. While upside down, parallel to the maglev, H5PAD stepped on to the maglev on the rear car, triggering his gription feet, putting one foot down, kicking the brake on the speeder bike with the other, then placing the next metallic foot down. The 88-V Ranger jerked to a stop, but then it fell like a brick, into the valley far below. By the time the speeder bike hit the ground, the maglev would be out of sight of the 88-V, that was sure to explode once it slammed into the bottom of the valley. But H5PAD assessed the 88-V as an acceptable loss to ensure non-detection…

8sod3iW.png

With mechanical precision, the assassin droid walked upside down on the bottom of the maglev towards the back, a few paces from the rear of the train with his hand rested on the pommel of his blaster pistol.

Sunverkh would do what he was ordered and hold on, waiting until they were positioned to actually do anything, the Trandoshan still had his rifle at hand, and it was for a good reason, while they could position themselves without being seen, it could be possible that there were one or two guards near their position, if they spotted them, he would shoot at them if possible, two shots in the chest would do the job to anyone that he encountered, the moment someone saw them there was no way they wouldn't alert the rest so he might as well clear the way.

Regardless if he had to shoot or not, Sun would put his hands on the carriage and open it, while this would reveal the escape vehicle, Sunverkh just needed a way to get in, so he checked first if there was anyone inside (shooting at them if that was the case) and then got in, guarding the place and waiting for Vespisian to enter, blaster carbine in hand and aiming at the carriage's door to shoot anyone that would be dumb enough to try and open that door.

Everyone on the train was aware that an ambush by speeders was a possibility at this stage of the journey and the turret gunners in particular were ready and waiting. So when one speeder (@Nor'baal @Versok) dropped off from a cliff, with it's engines turned off, and started falling within clear view of the turret at the front of the train (which fired backwards), it was about as obvious as a Chiss trying to pass for a Sith Pureblood.

The turret gunner would pull the trigger twice, resulting in four blaster bolts that were calculated to account for the stable speed of the speeder in freefall. As the driver of the speeder had made the decision to turn off the engine, there was no way to move the speeder from it's fixed movement of straight down and without the ability to dodge, it was incredibly unlikely that the pilot and passenger would survive the four blaster bolts from the turret.

The guard in the rear turret, who would see both the falling speeder and the other turret firing, tapped his com link.

"We've got company!"

A second speeder (@Real Russian) attempted the same move as the first but as the only turret with eyes on it was busy blasting at the first speeder, it would be reported but there was little else that could be done.

The speeder that had taken the stealthy approach (@Mithias) was entirely missed by anyone on the train and so the droid pilot would be able to access the train without issue.

Aks-Ree himself nodded to Markus ( @Faded Truth ) and took cover to the left side of the door to the front carriage, ready to receive a charge if one came or move up if one didn't.

"We're on, Markus."

Markus heard the status change through comm-link, notifying he and the others inside the front cabin in regards to attempted intruders. He did not know how many enemies were planning to board or their armaments but it mattered little to him. Some action after a few dull weeks would be mildly amusing, after all, that Criminal life was all about the thrills: Money and pleasure, sometimes even both mixed together.

The Pantoran grabbed his T visored Helm as well as readied the Shriek-Hawk; he nodded towards Aks-Ree and took cover to the right side of the door on the front carriage. His line of sight would overlook the cabins in the rear from where the getaway speeder was located in case threats came from that direction. "Got it, Boss. Let's light em up!"

Lex suspected that the mission won't run smooth. Cutting off someone head rarely goes well and Sunverkh's henchman has known it. Before he met the Trandoshan, he tried to do some jobs as a bounty hunter, but quickly figured that doing it alone was a suicide considering his modest amount of skills needed to be an effective assassin because he wasn't a killer at all. Lex was trying to submit to himself that the bounty hunting is the only true way to get real money and meet cool guys. Therefore he in the Jhess gang now. But die quickly wasn't his option too because there were so many people to fell in love with. Like Jhess. Obviously, being dead he won't achieve the goal. And flying laser bolts above his head had just accelerated the process several times. Actually, he thought he would be already dead, albeit the Lady Fortune seems to be mercy on him. This wasn't bad after all.

While Jhess and V were trying to get inside the train, Lex decided to take down the guy who was operating the turret. But even if he eliminates the rear turret, Lex need somehow deal with the distant one and he probably will have one or two seconds before it bolts will reach his position. The distance was the only benefit between the front top turret and Ringo's speeder, so he has to maneuver and do it well. Really well. Surely, the speeder wasn't the ship, but Lex has to deal since the piloting was the only good thing he could do because it was third years since he piloting. And piloting the speeder sharing the same requirements to drive good as a ship. Delivering very fragile cargos and powerful people in the Outer Rim has sought him to think critically when it comes to fighting. And so he started, checking his luck once again.

Popped up from the opposite side to V and Jhess, Ringo has harshly raised his speeder appearing from the right side of the turret, but the momentum was quickly enough so the turret gunner wouldn't react fast. Using the occurred small time frame and the fact the turret operator was busy with firing on Lex' partners, the mercenary focused the speeder blaster aim on the gunner, then pointed his vehicle to the bottom again and produced several blaster shots in him in an attempt to kill while dropping the height with the lifted v-88 nose using the entire speeder as a cover. Such a trick should grant some chance to survive the counterattack of the two top turrets and in case of success, Lex would continue on destroying yet another turret.

Now, while Sunverkh wanted to stay in the speeder and do his part of the plan, the moment he saw they were jumping just in the line of the turret made it clear for him that staying wouldn't do any good, and while he didn't want to ditch Vespasian, it was safer to take action now that risking getting blown up. So the Trandoshan aimed his grapple gun from his armor so it would stick to the second to last carriage, which was the one that was the closest to him at the moment, and bailed out of the vehicle, grabbing his carbine with his right hand while doing so.

But, while this would save him from the turret aiming at the speeder, there were still soldiers that could take shots at him, hanging on the grapple line and manually closing the distance would take too much time and basically get him killed, so he activated his jumping boots, using the boost they produced to carefully propel himself towards the train, specifically to land on the spot between the last carriage and the next, holding to the carriage with his other hand to gain balance and position himself before detaching the grapple line, it would be difficult for anyone to get a shot at him while doing so in such a secluded spot but knowing that there could be enemies coming, he would open the door to the last carriage with his e-33 at hand and shoot at any hostile that there would be inside of it while taking cover. Once done clearing that place (If there was even someone in there) he would get inside without closing the door and take cover again for a moment, waiting for his partners to report the situation, hoping Vespasian was okay.

From where he was standing, V could see that things where not going to plan. At all. As he saw the blaster shots heading toward him, and his Trandoshan compatriot making ready to grapple, V decided to facilitate his comrades actions, and gently pumped on the engines, bringing the speeder in a narrow arc under the trains rear carriage and making the Trandoshans jump a little easier. Catching one, and then two shots however as he did so, V was jolted off course just as the Trandoshan jumped, meaning that Vs already risky move, was made even more dangerous.

Hoping he had made tehe Trandoshans leap a little easier, V made quick his own escape. Throwing himself out of the speeder, in a desperate attempt to grab onto the side of the train himself, he ignored his speeder bike spiralling off belching smoke beneath him, and offered a small prayer, reaching out with his arms outstretched, and desperatly hoping that, somehow, he would be able to make it to the train.

OOC - God have mercy upon me. I'll post my fall and sad demise in the next round, depening on others actions.

Inferior methodologies. Associates in this contract have a 23.245% chance of sustainability. H5PAD must reassess tactical action.

H5PAD watched from underneath the train as both of the other Rangers came under fire from the turrets. The droid quickly ran calculations in reference to the time it would take to reach the rear car and the percentage chance of attracting attention while doing so. During this process, H5PAD analyzed the benefit of proceeding to the rear car and ran a scenario model, exercising its heuristic processor. All of the variables for proceeding to the back car, as originally planned, came up with the continued course of action computing as a lower bounty completion rate.

Without wasting another step, H5PAD redirected his steps and continued underneath the maglev, proceeding towards the front. When it came to the next maglev car, it walked to the edge, ensuring a strong surface connection, and stretched across to the next car. The assassin droid was in a near split when the extended foot was granted purchase on the next car. If it had been a human or a humanoid of a similar anatomy, H5PAD assessed that muscles might tear or pull making that transition from car to car, but this was not a concern of the droid. Its concerns were along the lines of ensuring sure-footing before releasing its back foot. A slight boost from the jetboot ensured the wind and momentum would not stunt progress getting the rear foot forward. All the while, the assassin droid had its blaster pistol pointed to the top of the cars during this transition. While the chance of noticing the assassin droid was a percentage far too low to concern itself with, it would take no chances. H5PAD knew that the enemy organics would have to leap to make that transition topside and the last thing they would be concerned with was what was occurring underneath the connector of two cars.

When he was not transitioning from car to car, the assassin droid made as much progress as he could traversing the surface of each car, alert for unforeseen eventualities…

With no real method of avoiding the blaster bolts from the turret at the front of the train, V and his speeder would take at least two of the hits and the speeder would begin to break up, pulling the bottom out from under the human and sending him falling down. None of his teammates were in any position to grab him right now and the train was thundering on far too quickly to be easily jumped onto.

Jhess would be able to board the train easily enough as the turrets were no longer paying any attention to him. Indeed, the turret at the real of the train took a pounding from Lex's speeder cannon until the man behind the turret took a shot, exploding into pieces. The turret at the head of the train fired off another volley, as it had done before, of two volleys of two shots each at the speeder.

Once again, both Aks-Ree and Markus would have no way of seeing H5PAD making it's way along the bottom of the train ever closer but eventually the droid was going to have to move into the train if it wanted to try and take the bounty.

Having heard the explosion of V's speeder, Aks-Ree nodded to Markus.

"Sounds like good news but I don't think we're clear just yet." he advised his subordinate, "Prep."

He drew his Renegade blaster pistol in his left hand and his vibrosword in his right but remained in cover to the side of the door for the forward-most carriage.

Markus nodded at his boss' orders, securing his T visor helmet and loading a powerpack into the Shriek-Hawk. Blaster rifle was cocked and ready to unleash hell upon any intruders that dared enter into their line of sight. A free hand slipped downwards and made sure the grenades were secured to his belt before placing it back underneath the barrel of the rifle. Scope was placed close to the eye sockets of his helm, glancing through the 1x modified zoom into the posterior cabins. Markus' armored form was remained in cover to the right side of the door of the forward carriage, next to Aks-Ree. Line of sight clearly visible into the other cabins should the intruders make their way into the train.

Even though Lex got his first success on the mission, it was his last. Lex couldn't handle two volleys of fire into him and got a shot in his speeder which has damaged its engine. Because the turret bolt had hit the hardest part of the hull (as the mercenary intended to use his bike as a cover), the speeder hasn't exploded and Ringo could manage to land safely on the ground of the nearest mountain, but now he couldn't chase the maglev anymore. The velocity of his bike dropped dramatically and the only thing he could do is to return back on his ship. Perhaps he paid too much attention to Jhess and V work and being distracted, got his speeder damaged. Well, it was fully his fault and he won't refuse to admit it. Seems like responsibility feeling was still a thing which has to be improved until one day it wouldn't cost Lex's life.

Ringo will know if Jhess was successful or not via HoloNet news or through the rumors in the smelled planetarian bars. Maybe bounty hunting was too complex for him right now and he should return to his life as business analytics earning mostly via goods price difference. Reconsider his sense of life. Lex simply was out of necessary skills right now to claim himself as a bounty hunter, so he probably will looking for more safely jobs. And ways to maintain good relationships with Jhess if he and that droid would survive the fight with Ask-Ree and his guards. For now, Lex's part here is done.

As the developments occurred, H5PAD continued to run ongoing scenario models. Syncing his comlink to just Jhess, he rattled over his analysis:

“Calculations correct. Organics ill-prepared for bounty. Sunverkh remaining organic. Probability of success lower—but not at a critical outcome. Egress plans completed. Proceeding to forward turret to neutralize gunner.”

H5PAD made steady progress from car to car, unphased by recent developments as it traversed with precision all the way to the forward car. With the twin cannon ball turret in the front unable to see anything behind it, H5PAD turned his direction and began to proceed up the starboard side of the forward car. Although his gription feet were adhering to the side of the maglev, the assassin droid was not worried about the sound. It was on the engine car, where the real noise of the maglev originated from. Regardless, the assassin droid was methodical with its footfalls, not only for adhesion, but also to prevent any sudden “clanging” that might occur from his footfalls on the main car. Calculations presented a high probability that his target was in the car he was traversing outside of, so meticulous attention to detail was the order for the droid. After transitioning from the bottom portion of the forward car to the top portion of the forward car, it paused as it recalculated the positioning of the turret and its gunner topside. H5PAD was certain that the angle he emerged behind the turret gunner was out of his periphery vision. Seeing that the dual cannons were not hanging over his side of the maglev, there was a high probability that the gunner was not looking in his direction either. Even if the turret gunner was, it would not be able to turn the turret in time before the droid made his move.

Emerging from the side of the train with his blaster pistol leveled, H5PAD walked up the side with his blaster pistol now leveled at the back of the head of the turret gunner. H5PAD walked toward the back of the gunner and when it had a clear shot at the exposed portions of the gunner, three shots rang out from his DH-7 Blaster Pistol. Two shots were aimed at the unarmored portion of his target’s neck. The third shot was aimed at his spinal column, in the lower back where the armor did not cover his back. If there was the slightest flinch that the gunner was aware of the droid’s presence, H5PAD would fire immediately. However, there was no reason at all for the turret gunner to be aware of this kind of attack, so H5PAD’s scenario calculations ran significantly on the high end for success probability. Regardless, the assassin droid was ready to evade and counter attack in the highly unlikely scenario that the turret gunner was waiting on him…
