A statue of two Zeltron's locked in an embrace sat on the right corner of her desk, and Charon's gaze was locked upon it now. Too much had happened in such a small amount of time. She had lost her husband, the man who had put her here in the first place, and now she had nothing to hold onto but his memory. "Your drinks ma'am." Two glasses filled with stiff whiskey, as well as a bottle, was placed on the desk before her. Charon offered her assistant a faint nod, letting the awkward silence between the two be a dismissal in itself.
Senator Krass would be visiting her today, in lieu of the BHG motion's approval. The added stipulation that he would be the one to appoint a Liason was rather unprecedented, but Charon herself considered it a small reprieve from the sheer weight of the duties hoisted upon her. They would surely find someone to vet, and then approach him to keep tabs on the Bounty Hunters Guild. It was a smart decision, considering the fact that the Republic was dealing with Bounty Hunters in the first place. They would keep the Republic's peace, which is something Charon appreciated considering the trouble that the Border Alliance had recently stirred on the northern border.
"Senator Krass is here to see you ma'am." A senate guardsman, one of the hand picked men chosen to guard her after her husbands assassination, poked his head through her office's previously closed door. For the first time in an hour, the Zeltron removed her gaze from the statue and turned it toward the guard at the door. Another simple nod was all it took for the guard to moved out of the way and let the Senator in. There wasn't a need for such strict security as far as she was concerned. The only way Krass could harm her was politically, and no one could defend her from that.
"Welcome Senator." A small smile crept onto her lips. She had chosen him specifically for multiple hearings. Not only was he a ranking member of the Senate, he also had a command over situations that few others could grasp so effectively. They disagreed politically over multiple issues, however, Charon could not deny that she trusted his judgment when it came to appointing a Liason. "Thank you for meeting with me today. I am sure we have a lot to discuss." A hologram projector built into her desk burst to life, loading files surrounding the hearing itself, the votes, and potential lists of personnel to be vetted. Though she appreciated the man, she had a hard time keeping her smile steady. He had been there when her husband had died, and she appreciated the gravity of that more than anything. Krass had seen her at her weakest point, her breaking point, and she wasn't exactly sure how she would handle it.
