HoloNet News

Just as the galaxy's denizens were beginning to think the insanity of the day had ended, the HoloNet News broadcast broke through their regular program with another stunning consequence of the ongoing feud between the Sith Empire and the Consortium.

"Good evening, loyal viewers," the Twi'lek news anchor said, his tone significantly graver than his earlier broadcast. "I wish I had better news for you. Unfortunately, the day's events have had economic consequences. Earlier today, Blackwell Tech released a statement in solidarity with the Independent Systems Consortium's recent actions against the Sith Empire. The Corporate Sector promptly followed suit, with a slew of businesses declaring an end to operations in Sith Space."

The screen shifted to a graphic of the galactic stock market. The information it contained was grim. Stocks were down across the corporate sector, signaling an impending stock market crash.

"Blackwell's announcement, along with the other announcements from the ISC, was promptly followed by a shut down in Imperial communications with the outside galaxy, as well as a closing of its borders. Merchant and civilian ships are now only allowed in and out of Sith Space with the proper clearance," the anchor continued. "This prompt blockade of hyperspace lanes through Sith territory has also blocked the critical Hydian Way super-hyperlane, the critical route through which most of the boycotting companies from the Corporate Sector conduct their trade. The results were instantaneous, prompting stock value in Blackwell and its fellow boycotting companies to plummet."

The graph went away and the anchor's grim face returned. "It is uncertain whether this latest bout of strain on the galactic economy is temporary or will have more long lasting consequences, but with no statement from the Sith Empress or her ministers, and the ISC showing no signs of backing down, we may be in for the long haul, folks. Stay tuned as we bring you more news on this ongoing and increasingly nasty conflict between the galaxy's two superpowers."
