This report is in response to the Political Disruptions, The Lady Jolene and I Feel The Weight threads.
Once again this is open to everyone from anywhere in the galaxy as it is a galaxy wide holonet broadcast. This is the first of two threads.
"Good Evening. I am Nastia Vant and this is the Holo News Network News at 11."
Nastia's familiar face once again filled vidscreens and holodisplays the galaxy over. Tonight her grim face was even more dour, if that was possible. For a woman who wore professionalism like armor, even the slight hint of emotion was alarming.
"Tonight we bring you grave news from two planets in the Imperial Republica. Onderon has seen an unforgivable act of terrorism and Kuat has seen the near-complete destruction of the famed Kuat Drive Yards.
She stared into the camera for a solemn moment before continuing.
"On both worlds this was no act of domestic terrorism or a demonstration of open rebellion," she was speaking quickly and clearly with the odd cadence of practiced news casters. "Both worlds were attacked by Mandalorian Marauders working in organized teams to deal critical blows to the Empire.
"On Onderon they detonated a series of timed explosives that destroyed a primary communications hub in the middle of Iziz. While that alone would have been a grave offense against the Empire, they went further still and maimed civilians. At the time of the attack the noble houses of Onderon were in attendance at a rally held by the Governor to raise funds for his re-election campaign. The event was a peaceful and joyous affair that was simply a matter of day-to-day life for the citizens of Onderon as a whole.
"However the Mandalorian forces apparently saw this as a threat. Eye witnesses report that one threw a fragmentation grenade at a crowd of noble Lords who were in attendance. Their deaths by the callous hands of the Mandalorians weigh heavy on the people of the Imperial Republica. We feel the loss of so many citizens and their families and offer our condolences.
The involvement of Mandalorians raises a concerning problem that the Imperial Republica must address. For many years now the Mandalorians have been contained to their sector, happy to live out their days in relative obsolescence and accepting the odd mercenary contract for peoples of questionable allegiance. Why have they suddenly sprung to action against the Empire now?
"Is it because the newly crowned Elix the Fifth is unprepared to lead our people? So far he has offered only a token response to the attack.
"We will return after the break with an investigative report from Jacob Tagger on the devastating attack on the Kuat Drive Yards."
