DESCRIPTION
The Broadside-class shared a common keel design with the Gladiator-class Star Destroyer. The design was stripped of passenger compartments, the hangar bays were turned into torpedo bays and the vessel lost some of its armor. Due to the lack of self-sufficiency, the Broadside-class was re-designated as a "cruiser" instead of a "Star Destroyer".Designed for long-range engagements, ships of this class had light armor and unimpressive acceleration and maneuverability. The cruiser, despite its poor maneuverability, was useful at firing long range missiles under enemy radar. Often positioned outside of typical range to bombard enemy shields from a distance before a main attack, the Broadside-class showed itself useful during the Galactic Civil War.
Since the end of the war and the decline of the Empire, the Broadside-Class Cruiser was seen in the hands of Imperial warlords across the Galaxy and, often, found itself into the hands of pirates and planetary defense fleets alike. These days the ships are showing their age but their armament mean they can still be a threat even to more modern ships.
LEGALITY
Restricted. Broadside-Class Cruisers are classified as capital ships under Galactic law, and possess heavy weapons. As such, civilian owners will require extra licensing to operate one legally, and will receive increased scrutiny by authorities.INTENT
To bring a canon ship to the site that has fills a niche called "all the missiles".RESTRICTIONS
Yes. Broadside-Class Cruisers are large capital ships, therefore these that cannot be owned or operated by individual characters. A faction would be required to obtain and crew a ship of this size.
