PERSONALITY & APPEARANCE

Standing just at 1.78m tall and weighing 170lbs, Byrec keeps himself extremely conditioned with a religious routine of various exercises. Not muscled to the point of being a hulking mass, but sinewy and compact. Byrec’s brown hair is to cut to a medium-reg, and he’s clean-shaven. He’s pretty meticulous about grooming if he can help it, the last thing he needs is a stickler going after him on grooming standard.

Raised with tales of high-adventure from his career Stormtrooper father, there’s little doubt as to what Byrec was going to be when he reached adulthood. Since then he’s seen action on various worlds from the years in the fall of the Galactic Alliance to the campaigns in the expansion period after the Fall of Coruscant and beyond. A seasoned veteran, and ever the consummate professional, Byrec is very good at what he does. He takes no particular joy in his work, but recognizes the necessity of his talents in an unforgiving galaxy. Still, he can’t help but allow a sense of pride with his skills, particularly marksmanship. Steadfast and conscientious in his duties, Byrec nonetheless isn’t averse to the occasional disillusionment with the Imperial military. Nothing is always smooth-sailing and despite the victories, there’s always something to complain about in the Army.

Byrec is pretty low-key, and generally keeps away from the rambunctious tendencies of his more erratic peers. But regardless of however he might personally dislike someone, in most cases Byrec will give a hand to a brother in need. He’s highly disciplined and motivated sure, but doesn’t carry himself like a giant tool. Soft-spoken, well-mannered and affable, he’s not a hard person to talk to. On the job however, he’s a dead-eyed killer, and feels only the recoil of his rifle after taking a life. By no means does he play himself off as a droid, his emotions are still there like they always are, but he’s just that good at playing it off. As far as Byrec is concerned, enemies of the Empire must have deserved the fate they are sentenced, or otherwise he wouldn’t be carrying it out.

He’s believer of an orderly society, and the Empire is the right institution to enlighten the rest of the galaxy… by force if necessary. In regards to the Sith, Byrec pretty ambivalent towards them, but he’s smart enough know crossing them is bad juju. Unfortunately, his only mistake in what must be decades cost him his rank and cozy duty posting. The latter of which he frankly didn't mind doing without. Still, he was somewhat embittered by the experience, more at fate than anything.

Years of fighting the Alliance, and whatever remains of opposition to the Imperial war machine instilled something of a grudging respect for his opponents. After all, taking up arms against the Imperium is nothing short of suicide, and at least they’re brave, if not foolhardy, enough to do that.

In contrast to his cool demeanor, he's curiously a reckless driver on his swoop and has been known to accumulate tickets.

BIOGRAPHY

Born on Bastion in 987 ABY, Byrec was the son of Darren Solimar, a Stormtrooper NCO that served the Imperial Military for decades until his retirement. Growing up, the virtues of discipline, service, and hard work was instilled very early on. Enchanted by the tales and countless stories his father often regaled him of what was like to wear the uniform, the young man enlisted as soon as he was able to. In the years that followed he was selected and began training as a Stormtrooper recruit on his homeworld. As part of the generation that came after the Sith coup on Bastion, Byrec adjusted quickly to what he saw was normality. He was too young at the time to really tell the difference anyway, and he saw nothing wrong with their assumption of power, as the public widely approved of it. It hardly interfered with his duties later on.

Once he finished his training Byrec had high aspirations of an exciting, adventurous life off-world, as the recruitment holos fervently pitched. Of course, like all service members, those hopes were quickly dashed. Instead, for two years the young man toured a number of hazardous destinations all competing for the title of bung hole of the galaxy. He spent much of his time planetside, finding out for himself that the life he so long envisioned wasn’t all it was cracked up to be. However, he didn’t really have to wait for much longer.

At 1011 ABY when war erupted, Byrec’s unit was amongst the many sent out into the frontlines. Battle after battle, victory after victory, he saw for himself the might of the Imperial war machine. He fought across many ground engagements over the course of the war. The victory on Coruscant only served to affirm his beliefs that the Imperium’s way was just, and bolstered his pride on the Imperial Army as a whole. He was all-too glad to have played a part, as small as it was. He didn’t really think twice over the destruction of the galactic capital, it was a necessary means to an end, a show of power to hopefully put the end to the Galactic Alliance.

In the months prior to the debacle on Coruscant ‘Corporal’ Byrec had re-enlisted as a scout trooper at the behest of his superiors, who recognized his talents as a marksman over the course of his tours of duty. The fighting wasn’t over yet, and the newly-christened scout trooper had many chances to hone his new craft and skills following the Fall. He participated in several campaigns on worlds that remained resistant after the Imperium’s victory over Coruscant. Byrec was amongst the Stormtroopers selected to partake in the subjugation of the Wookies. Unlike his previous roles as a front-line trooper, he performed reconnaissance, and the elimination of various high value targets. He wasn’t accompanied by an infantry section either, instead veteran scout trooper Malliax Muro filled the role as his spotter and partner in crime. The antithesis to Byrec’s reserved personality, Muro was frenetic, loud, but otherwise a savant. Despite their differences, or perhaps because of it, the pair bonded quickly and were extremely efficient in their duties.

The scout trooper duo were next sent to Corellia, joining the fighting force that had beleaguered Duro. They were truly tested by the hardy Corellians, and for every death and every bomb, the Imperium had an answer. For several tours this continued, and dozens more fell from the smoking barrel of his sniper rifle. The stormtroopers engaged in unconventional warfare against the Corellians, where the scouts’ varied skill sets proved particularly useful. By the fifth year Corellia and its affiliated planets finally fell. Byrec made Sergeant at this point, and was gladly rotated out from the Core Worlds.

The following years was a frustrating one for the scout sergeant. He was stationed space-side on garrison duty, and busied himself conducting hours upon hours of performing weapons maintenance at the armory (after the unnervingly long lines which preceded such an act) and first echelon maintenance on grimy trash compactors. In addition, he saw for himself the complacency and outright laziness that plagued the Imperial Army following their constant successes. It was maddening to see something which would have been unheard of earlier in his career, and he desperately wished for a change of station.

Be careful of what you wish for.

There are rumors still about it now, how the seasoned scout trooper was simply at wrong place and time. Some say he had inadvertently witnessed some hush-hush business between several high-ranking Sith that was on station at the time. In hindsight, it was a rare case of a lack of tact from the Sergeant. He found himself promptly processed by the irate Sith, and busted down to a Private on a whim, finding himself nostalgically waxing the floors of the base alongside the many junior enlisted. Said Sith also gleefully flexed their pull over the Imperial Armed Forces, and consequently the scout trooper found himself reassigned to Aurek Company of the 501st in the front lines.

And frankly, he couldn't be happier.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Scout troopers put a lot of weight in marksmanship, and Byrec is no exception. He's an expert in the use of many small-arms employed by the Imperial Military, particularly the scoped DE7 Rogue Arms and the E-75A1 service rifle. Operating unseen is paramount to the effectiveness of a scout trooper, and he is well-versed in fieldcraft. He is capable of operating independently, with a two-man team (which is usually the case), or as part of an infantry section. As a scout he has a variety of skill sets such as unconventional warfare, special reconnaissance, taking out high value targets, and sabotage. In most cases he is providing long-range precision fire from a concealed position... which is bad juju if you're the opposing force. You can never tell if you're safe or not, because your head might be quickly displaced at the drop of a hat. If he has a shot, he will take it with extreme prejudice. Byrec takes a lot of pride on his sharpshooting, and consistently strives to improve his already formidable craft.

He has plenty of survival training and is capable of operating in various planetary conditions solo for extended periods of time. Byrec is proficient in basic hand to hand from training but can easily be bested with someone skilled and experienced enough. After all he has no reason to train to be the best martial arts expert if he can just vape them from afar. Byrec would rather rely on his expertise with firearms and shot placement. After all, there's a reason why blasters and slugthrowers were invented. The scout is also proficient at lock-picking, demolitions and basic slicing, in addition to armor and weapons maintenance. Byrec is capable of driving various repulsorlift vehicles, but is at his best with speeder bikes.

EQUIPMENT

Byrec is capable of wielding the various small arms afforded to him by the Imperial military, and selects them appropriately according to the mission at hand. In most cases his gear consists of a scoped ROGUE ARMS DE7 in a carry case on his back, and an E19 COMPACT Blaster. In certain situations where the DE7 is unfit, he carries the standard E75A1 service rifle and the High Capacity Repeater.

As a last resort, he keeps an IV-1 Vibroblade on hand. He wears the standard SAU8.v1 CENTURION armor, often fitted with camouflage depending on which terrain he's currently operating in. Otherwise, the semi-powered armor is relatively unchanged since it was issued to him, no reason to mess with something that's been working fine for decades.

In addition to the standard load-out built-in into the armor (via the utility belt pouches), he carries additional power packs for his weapons, macrobinoculars, thermal sights, assorted grenades (thermal detonator, stun, frag). He’s known to carry more supplies in a rucksack for extended missions.

STRENGTHS & WEAKNESSES

DEADEYE ♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦

Befitting of the reputation often attributed to scout troopers, Byrec is a crack shot with various firearms. His personal weapon of choice is the DE7 Rogue Arms, followed closely by the E-75A1 rifle. But really, give the guy a slingshot with some rocks and he'll make that work too.

NERVES OF STEEL ♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦

Years of experience in the field taught him the importance of patience and a clear head. He's unperturbed by distractions and the chaos that often perpetuates the battlefield. Despite what adverse conditions he may face, he'll get his shot off if that's what it takes. There's rarely anything that can faze him, let alone break his concentration. And if it there is, he'll be the first one to run.

LONE WOLF ♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦

Despite the early years in a larger infantry section as an assault trooper, Byrec has since adapted to the surprising degree of independence afforded to scouts since reenlisting as one. At least in a two-man team unless the mission necessitates a solo run, he's not unfamiliar to working with someone else, or even a team.

MASTER AT ARMS ♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦

While his shot is often times unparalleled, he's prominently uses small-arms and most prominently blaster weaponry. He's had experience with slugthrowers, especially given its natural advantages over blasters that prove to be useful in his line of work. Byrec has little experience with heavier weapons such as heavy repeaters, portable rocket launchers and weapons with a large splash area and potential for mass destruction. After all, his craft is silent, deadly, and preferably unnoticed. In addition, carrying such heavy gear would simply impede him and goes against his nature as a scout trooper. Don't even bring up the topic of vibroweapons, all he knows is to put steel on target.

EYE OF THE MIND ♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦

Byrec has a heightened capacity for observation, only refined by years of experience as a scout trooper on various reconnaissance missions. He's capable of calmly analyzing the situation under duress and can make quick decisions appropriately.

SURVIVALIST ♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦

One of the bread and butter skill sets of a scout trooper, Byrec is trained extensively in survival techniques. He's operated in various climates and hazardous conditions. Bolstered by the durable and versatile Centurion armor and the harsh training he was forced to endure, the stormtrooper can hold his own for some time in even the most obscure of worlds in the Outer Rim. In addition, he's proficient in operating stealthily in various environments using camouflage and other means.

FISTICUFFS? ♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦

His preferred 'martial art' is a comlink with an artillery battery on the other end. As a member of the Stormtrooper Corps and former Assault Trooper he's familiar with several martial arts forms, but he's had little the chance to use them given his particularly deadly craft. He's capable of holding his own, but can be easily bested by a more superior opponent. But then again, he usually doesn’t let them get that close to begin with. Accurate shot placement trumps any pair of fists.

BUSHWACKER ♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦

What defines 'unfair' anyway? Most people he's encountered are often reduced to their component particles before they can answer that question.

GEARHEAD ♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦

Aside from equipment maintenance (he's had a posting or two with -plenty- of weapons maintenance), and the occasional tinkering with the swoop he's capable of little else. He's not supposed to be your resident tech expert.

DEMOMAN ♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦

Demo card and P for plenty.
