Being born to a rich family in one of the Houses of the Elders, Calamar Sol Driekas-Rathios III (or, by his own preference, Cala Sol Rathios) was always different to the other kids. From a young age, the freckled boy with the wild orange hair was obsessed with Dejarik and HoloChess, and excelled in competitive Dejarik tournaments. He managed to squeeze these games in around an incredibly tight schedule, taking advanced placement classes in one of the most prestiguous private education systems on Esseles: the Imperial Academy of Calamar. But, in less than a year, Dejarik bored him almost as intensely as it had once thrilled him. Nonetheless, after his successes in Dejarik and his remarkable educational honours, the teenage boy was practically wading through university invitations both on and off world. And yet, he was not convinced. While the offers were at least mildly appealing, he was too young to yet have the applications from the more prestigious universities he was desperate to attend.

Despite his best efforts, Cala's parents went ahead and accepted an application on his behalf, certain that their son would excel if given the opportunity to start university far earlier than most students. While Cala already had a shaky relationship with his parents, this was the straw that broke the bantha's back. He ran away with his savings, spending nigh-all he had earned to take the trip to the paradise world of Shella, the home of his cousins, of the little-known House Driekas.

At fifteen, whilst on Shella, he discovered his second great obsession: language. Not only did he mull over whatever poetry he could get his hands on (especially the ancient stuff)—he could never have enough of it. Because of this, and because of the vast amount of literature he could not read in it's natural form, he also took to fervently learning as many languages as possible. Countless days were spent memorizing words and grammar, late nights (and early mornings) attempting to simulate the workings of complex alien vocal tracts. Thanks to his obsessiveness, in less than a year, he became fluent in Twi'leki, Huttese, Abdenedo, and pretty good at Rodian, too. (He couldn't shake his human accent despite intense effort and hours of study.) And while he would continue dabbling in language for the rest of his life, the obsession, too, faded.

It was then, sometime around seventeen years of age, that he spouted an obsession with politics. An obsession that, unlike all the others, would never fade. He quickly earned his Bachelor's in Political Science with the University of Shella, and given his speed of completion and summa cum laude honours, he was made an offer he could not refuse: the rare opportunity to move to Coruscant, and attend the prestigious University of Coruscant. He pounced on it.

Ten years of intense study in the Imperial capital later, and Cala felt ready to be the political figure he had hoped to be for all those years. He turned up to the Esselesian political debates as a complete unknown, and—with help from his near-photographic memory—systematically dismantled each and every of his political opponents in a consice manner, leaving as the shock-frontrunning candidate for the Senate of the United Protectorate. Thanks to this exposure, this success in several further debates, and depite an underfunded campaign, Cala won the election in a landslide. He had now the right to represent his world on perhaps the grandest stage: the Senate of the newly-formed United Protectorate.

Cala Sol Rathios: the voice of the Peoples of Esseles.

Members of House Rathios were known to be cold and unforgiving, but this was never true of Cala. In general, he presents as kind-hearted, nd confident (although on the inside he is rarely ever as confident as he appears). He is generally a very likeable character, proving brilliant in diplomacy and peace-talks. Furthermore, he truly wishes to be a force for good in the galaxy, impacting the Senate in such a way that the Protectorate is better off with him present. As for less positive traits: when he believes in something, Cala can be frighteningly stubborn. He can also be prone to missing social cues, perhaps a side effect of his savant-like intelligence. Cala also, for all intents and purposes, lacks a sense of humour, and suffers from mild obsessive compulsions, which he suppresses in fear of appearing crazy.

Nonetheless, what the young senator lacks in age and wisdom, he makes up for in genius and charisma, able to charm his way into many a deal.

A few issues here. Esseles is a Sith affiliated world, so can't have a Mando senator. And being in line for the throne is a no, that's way too much influence for a level 1 character to start off with. Same for the first in galactic history to rank that high and all, needs to be toned down. And the position is senator, is Grand Senator supposed to be something different?

I meant to put him so far out of being in line for the throne that it wouldn't practically happen in his lifetime: eight highly-protected, incredibly rich people would conviniently have to die, and for him to stay alive despite their deaths. Honestly, it was just an excuse for him to be a well-known figure. If you'd rather, I could push it back even further just to make it clear that he won't ever actually get near the throne. Or I could just scrap the notion completely and simply have him born to a rich family.

As for his Dejarik rank being far too high, I thoroughly agree there—my writing got rushed because I wanted him to become the Senator for Esseles before it was taken by another user. I'll fix that asap. Same with the Sith affiliation. In my research regarding Esseles, apparently I misunderstood and thought that it had it's own individual "Empire of Esseles", outside of the rule of the Sith. Thus, I imagined any political affiliation would be comprehesible. Could you please share with me where you got that from for my own research purposes (I don't doubt it's validity, just figured that the source may be of use).

And finally, no, I was suggesting he had experience as Grand Senator in the Senate of the Empire of Esseles itself, and not the United Protectorate Senate. Will fix that too.

There is an Atlas section in the boards, has a pretty detailed map with affiliations marked out. As for the affiliation to the throne, getting rid of it would be best. Make it a normal rich family, not too over the top rich.

Done. My apologies for the terrible original write up, and thank you for the tips.
Is there anything else?

I'd remove mentions of the Esselian Empire and just have it be a normal planet. The Empire is a legends thing and I don't really think it exists in our setting. The Sith Empire ruled all the core worlds, so a smaller empire existing within their territory is not possible.
