But then again.. you have a point there.. You go from the late Permian/early Triassic and be pretymuch unchanged... thats a good sign your species has pretty much hit the level of " perfection" it needs.

Dogs. I've wanted a pack of wolves for pets since...as long as I can remember. Of course the closest things to wolves I'd ever get is a husky.

I've had both and a good cat is an angel and greater than any dog, however in general a dog will be superior to your cat. Cat's for me tend to be bitches.

It depends on what's being factored. Dogs are more social and loving but at the same time annoying and hyper. Most dogs bark (I can't say all since one of my neighbor's dogs seemed as if it was yoddling rather than barking) and won't shut up. Cat are less social and generally lazy. Minus for cats that don't use the litter boxes correctly, they generally don't make a mess (minus for fur, which accounts for both dogs and cats).
Personally, I'm not sure what I'd pick.

I remember reading something about this, a long time ago.

Even if you raise both animals with love and devotion, they are still different. It was said that if you died unexpectedly, a cat would start eating you (since you provided food) and move on once it lost interest. A dog, however, will remain by your side and die with you.

A cat sees living with you as a mutual benefit; you feed it and protect it, it brings you dead animals and warns others away.

A dog sees you as a master. You belong to it, as much as it belongs to you. It's duty is to see you alive and well.

I don't know about y'all, but I want a samurai retainer dog.

Cats do hilarious things, require less effort to take care of then dogs, and their bodies are FLOPPY.
I have a himalayan siamese cross; his nick-name is Floopy Noodle Cat because if you pick him up he's goes limp. Most affectionate cat ever. He drools errywhere though.

This.

Cats are cute and all, but that is their main redeeming quality.

Dogs are such better companions.

My sister has a Siamese-Oriental cross named Pablo, and he's super-affectionate as well, but SO. NEEDY. If there's not someone paying attention to Pablo at all times, he will just mew endlessly. I like my cat for being more independent, while still hanging out with me and/or 'ambushing' me from time to time... her only flaw is her massive obesity. >_>
