Caves of Ilum

Plot Outline Submission Template:

1. What is going to happen in your plot?
Vosrik, along with his brother Shalken and Ayy-Anni and will be traveling to Ilum. There, Vosrik will make a new lightsaber, discover what happened to his former mentor, and help Shalken learn more about Psychometry. Ayy-Anni is accompanying to begin some of her training and mentoring under Vosrik.

2. What other players will be a part of this?
Vosrik Tanari (@Vosrik), Shalken Tanari (@Shalken), and Ayy-Anni Daesha (@Esther Nyx).

3. Where are all the places (if more than one) that your plot will be taking place?
Ossus, Ilum.

4. Please provide a basic in-character timeline of what you expect to happen.
Thread One: Vosrik, Shalken, and Ayy-Anni gather in the Great Library on Ossus discuss their plans for helping rebuild the Order. Vosrik mentions that he wanted to know what happened to his mentor who presumably died on Ilum and also wants to craft a new lightsaber.
Thread Two: The three travel to Ilum and explore the ruined and abandoned temple. While there, Shalken's latent ability in Psychometry becomes apparent and he experiences visions and unintelligible images of what happened during the Tragedy.
Thread Three: The trio then go to the caves, and with some difficulty Vosrik finds a crystal.
Thread Four: The story ends with the three returning to Ossus and Vosrik crafting his lightsaber. They discuss what Psychometry is and how Shalken can better hone his skill in the future while keeping it a secret from the Council.

5. What do you or your character hope to achieve with this plot? What is the "end-game"?
Shalken discovers his latent Force abilities, Vosrik will acquire a new lightsaber, and Ayy-Anni will also become more disciplined in the Force.

6. Do you need any involvement of canon NPCs or faction leaders to be DMed by a staff member? If so, please detail who/what and for what purpose.
No NPCs necessary.

Hey, @Vosrik!

Can you clarify how many threads you plan to throw out in this plot?

Also, after speaking with another staff member on this subject, psychometry is more of a "gift" than a learned ability. In addition, while it could potentially be used as a Level 1 character, it would be extremely difficult to develop and control ("unintelligible images; hard to decipher"). Keeping that in mind, I would ask that Shalken not "improve" such a force ability, but rather have it "awaken," or manifest within him.

Because that would also solve another issue I have. Developing a new force ability and constructing a new lightsaber in one typical plot sounds like a lot to me, as the "getting lightsabers require plots" also apply to Jedi or Exiles. However, if Shalken instead discovers his potential in psychometry, rather than learn it (as it would require far more time and experience), then I'll be fine with the endgame rewards.

P.S. Per canon, the Jedi Order don't approve of an ability like that, given its potential exposure to the dark side. But, as long as you keep it on the down low... your secret's safe with me.
