DESCRIPTION
WIP
Known as the Exogorth, this mining vessel is often seen meandering through asteroid fields in the mid to outer rim, packed with low skills crew, desperately trying to eak a living out off of mining rocks. Without sufficient escape pods for the crew (only senior management get such luxury), working on one of these is very very dangerous. The Exogorth operates by using tractor beams to hold an asteroid in place, before sending workers to crawl over the asteroid in space suits, and mine it the old-fashioned way.

Such methods are deemed necessary to get the much-needed resources on board, and like all such practices, are basically all but ignored by the gentle worlds of the Core.

Usually travelling without an escort, the ships are badly armed, and prone to attacks by pirates. During such an event, pirates normally will try to board the ship and take the cargo, in which case the underpaid crew are normally told to fend them off, with whatever weapons the captain decides to let them have. The crew tend to live in hammocks in one large sleeping area, with the offices and bridge staff having their own, very small cabins.

The ship is designed as a workhorse with second rate engines and a low grade hyperdrive to boot. Much of the vessel is dominated by a vast storage 'tube' around which the rest of the vessel is contructed. The main cargo tube, which opens up into space at one end, is made of cheap metal, and lacks life support, with cargo being mag-locked to the walls and floor - crew must wear space suits to work there. The rest of the ship is bolted onto the crane-like struts around the outside of the main tube area, once again - cost is key.

The ships crew sections can be found underneath the main cargo area, and tend to be cramped, unhygenic and downright dangerous. At the rear of the ship can be found the engines and engineering areas, with the bridge found halfway down the top-side of the cargo area. Many crew are encouraged to stay in their flight suits at all times, in case of emergencies.

In effect, the ship is basically a mobile mining platform, with a small amount of crew sections and a large engine bolted onto the back. Accidents are common, but thanks to the ships low cost and small crew requirement, they are still deeply popular in the various mining outfits of the galaxy.

LEGALITY
Legal everywhere.

INTENT
To create a workhorse mining ship / manufacturing plant / and possibly small hanger for a fighter group. Created for @Trix and her required specifications.

ADVANCED TECH
Yes, due to its size.

You are not supposed to submit WIPs for review, this should have been posted in a workshop thread until you were ready to post it here. Be it tech, characters, lore, WIPs go in workshop.
