Dantooine, Jedi Enclave, Council Chambers
Mid-Day
THIS THREAD IS DEATH DISABLED

The quiet world of Dantooine hummed with the ever-present flow of the force. The light was here, shining as it always did. The Jedi Council was in session and the masters of the order all had taken their seats. Most conversation was light and almost jovial, despite the looming threat of the Sith, the planning of the Jedi Order had moved on to less grim topics-at least for the moment-and there were even some smiles to be had. Jedi Master Kalela Abaas, a Mirialan, brought her hands together with a pleasant smile.

"I have heard that several of he padawans from Mygeeto have almost finished their trials. We should prepare a welc-" She was cut off, however, by a creening sound from the center of the room. The massive holoprojector erected in the center of the Jedi Council chambers flickered to life with an emergency broadcast. Packaged as a SOS with the highest level of priority the message played immediately. A female miralukan appeared on her knees, covered in what are obviously mortal wounds.

"Masters of the Council, this is Jedi Knight Nimarra Skai... I..." She coughed, blood dripping from the corners of her lips. "I am sending this final message from the world Phateem, the coordinates are attached." She tensed, reaching for her lightsaber with a hand covered in scars. "I have found in this temple records of ancient force techniques that may hold the key to defeating the Dark Lord and his Emperor. I..." She turned and ignited her lightsaber, she raised her voice to be heard over the roar of some manner of beast. "...I do not think I will return alive! I am sorry! Phateem may be our last chance to prevent another Tython! I just ask... that you find my body too."

The Jedi Knight whirled and strikes back against some unseen horror, and the signal goes dark.

There is a presence on the other side, an urgent feeling around the young force user.

A Disturbance in the force, Jedi Knight Nimarra Skai has died on Phateem. The ripple of her life being extinguished washes over the council. In the distance, the looming shadow of the Sith lays in wait.

The aged Master Abaas appears sullen, despite her serene exterior. The Jedi has seen many people she thought well of die, most notable being her sister, Ibini Abaas, who was slain by her own Padawan many years ago.

The tension between the Jedi and the remnants of the republic remains thick in the air. With the republic defunct, the Jedi have been tasked with taking charge-and many Jedi have refused the calling, as it breaches their views of the Jedi Code.

General Valen Pelora sat in a high-backed chair on a small raised dais. He looked out at the seats arrayed before him, the Masters of the Order slowly taking their positions in the room. The Council had called a meeting of the Jedi Masters on Dantooine. Annileen, Logan, and Lanna had been meeting frequently the past few months. Weekly their holographic forms adorned the Councilor chairs stationed high above Jedha. The four of them had been pouring their hearts, minds, bodies, and souls, into running the Order. It had been a long and trying five years. Rarely, did they call on all the Masters to join their meetings.

They found meeting as Council was more effective than involving all the Jedi Masters. This occasion was different. The galaxy was darkening and they had felt compelled to involve all the Masters. The Council Members sat at the front of the large room, the beautiful natural light of Dantooine streaming behind them. As always, Annileen was to his left, and Lanna to his right. The room bubbled with idle chatter. The Lightside washing over them all. He could sense the Master’s anxiety as they waited for the Council to begin the meeting. Valen cocked his head to the side as he heard an unfamiliar word ring in his ears. Master Abaas was old, and insisted on calling the Initiates, Padawans, despite Valen’s many efforts to correct the elderly Jedi. It was personal battle of his.

Suddenly, the large Holoprojector spun to life. They were not expecting any communications. It could only be accessed by outside communications in dire circumstances. Valen watched an unfamiliar figure grow large on the screen. The scene went from bad to worse. He could feel the stoic Jedi Masters fighting to keep their calm as Jedi Skai delivered her message. He breathed in the powerful river of the Light running through Dantooine. He kept his face neutral as the message ended. His breathing was even. Jedi Skai had died to bring them that knowledge. It could not go to waste. A murmur was quickly growing in the chamber.

“Masters, please.” He raised a hand to silence the gathered Jedi. He did not know what to think. He did not fear Lord Cain or his dark magic. Tython was gone but the weapon had not been used again. The Dark Lord was a Sith like any other. Still, he had been secluded for many years. The Jedi had been given few chances to strike at the heart of the Empire. This could be that chance. @Zenya @Wit @Relent @Vinny

Annileen was contemplative as the message ended, feeling the ripples in the Force that let her know that what they had just seen had been someone's dying message. Closing her eyes for a few moments, all the respect she could pay to the fallen Jedi, before turning her thoughts to the here and now.

Annileen had yet to meet this new Dark Lord, she had locked blades with the Emperor, but this Cain was still nothing but a series of dossiers to her. It seemed he was becoming as much of a nuisance as those that had come before him. The time, it seemed, was coming when the Jedi would have to take more direct actions to stop him.

Phanteem? Not a world I have heard off.

General Valen's request for calm was quickly heeded by his fellow masters. Those present fell into an introspective silence. Master Abaas let out a weary sigh, glancing over at Annileen as the woman posed her question. She frowned, considering it for a moment before drawing up her own datapad. The various worlds that they had dispatched Jedi to in order to track down forgotten conclaves had in many cases been dead ends. So it was something of a surprise that anything at all had been found on the remote world.

"We know very little, Master Draav. Honestly, we have not had time to review the transmissions Knight Skai had sent prior to this emergency dispatch." The elderly jedi said. She rubbed her chin and ran her finger over the screen. There were small data dumps that had been sent back by Nimarra previously, but even that bore very little fruit. That was until one of the very last entries. The jedi master paused and looked up at those gathered.

"According to what she found, several of the archives there dated back nearly ten thousand years." Another murmur among those gathered. She turned her gaze toward Master Valen. "We must send a team to follow up on her discoveries." She insisted.

Another master present; Master Gorin Batal, a Nemoidian of Dantooinian birth, frowned deeply.

"And stretch ourselves further? I do mourn the passing of a promising Knight, but we must concern ourselves with what is now. The people of the fallen Republic here on this world are poised at the edge of chaos. We must focus on Dantooine."
