Hello,

As some of you may know from my welcome thread, I have never been involved in a rp before and I am having some problems trying to create a character. I have looked in the character profile area and looked at the characters already approved and cant even begin to come up with something as creative as that yet.

I have the basic ideas for 3 different characters on my mind (name, race, and what they are) but then I seem to be unable to create anything beyond that such as a fitting back story, appearance or personal traits. I am not sure if it's just being to new to role playing or not but I could really use and appreciate any and all guidance in this matter.

You can give basic information...like how his family was, if they were rich/poor/etc. Maybe how he dealt with his peers. Profiles can be built upon as you role play your characters. Many of mine have expanded over time into things much better then what they where.

Sorry if this helps very little, but I couldn't think of much more off the top of my head.

Ok, good to know I could build on it. So would you suggest starting off with maybe a young type character who just became a padawan with very basic info that can be added to as needed?

edIT: Or maybe an apprentice instead of a padawan depending on age?

If that is all you can do for now, then yes. Profile 'fullness' shouldn't stop you from jumping in and role playing. As long as it has the minimum word requirements.

What is the minimum word requirement? (I haven't heard about that yet) And I can add in quite a few "extra" bits of info to the character so it isn't to empty but how much would be to much for a young Jedi character? (I am thinking 18 just to have something to be able to mold)

What is the minimum word requirement?

Source: Character Profile Templates

Please also be aware that you are required to have a certain amount of words in the profile in order for it to be considered legitimate. If you follow one of the templates, there must be at least fifty words in the personality and fifty words in the history. If you do not follow a template and write in prose, there must be at least one hundred words to the profile in terms of narrative. If you do not follow a template and write in poetry, there is a fifty word minimum to the poem. If you want a poem that is less than fifty words, for example, you must add a paragraph of one hundred words of description or story to the bottom of the profile.

I don't really understand that question. Too much what exactly? History? Write whatever you want, as long as it's not a ridiculous thing like he's 12 and traveled around the universe three times.

18 is fine to start off with, my ex-padawan(now Bogan) started in the Order at 18 and has a nice long history.

Yeah, I meant history. Thank you for the help. I will have this finished soon and you can let me know what you think and give me some pointers hopefully. Thanks again :D

No problem.

I'll stop in when I see it up.

Is it necessary to have character pictures or is there someone I can talk to and get some art done for me? If not I can take extra time to make a drawing.

Pictures are not necessary. :)

It still surprises me that people still reference that.
