Ask Nar Shaddaa City to City

Katherine wandered down the streets of Nar Shaddaa, absently rubbing her nose. This place smelled! There were so many conflicting scents wafting from so many different directions, combining so that they all made her want to sneeze. Not to mention the people! Kat had thought that Tatooine had every alien in the galaxy, but the things she saw as she lurched around belied reasonable explanation. And Katherine prided herself on being sensible.

Honestly, it was a strange quirk of fate that found her here. She took a nap in a lovely little crate and ended up stuck in some stale cargo hold. A few hours later found her in this strange neon city. She already had to fight one mugger and deftly dodge two more, so she was starting to think that whoever ran this place could use a few more enforcers. Still, the idiot who tried to mug her was wearing a rather lovely orange jacket, which she had suspiciously acquired an exact copy of. The blood on the front might have been from a broken nose, and it might have not; If it did, it wasn't from her.

She still couldn't read any of the signs on the establishments that littered seemingly every street. The harsh lights against the dimness of the streets irritated her sensitive eyes, so during a particularly flashy segment of a holo-sign, it wasn't much of a surprise when Kat stumbled into another person. Her body lurched back, and her hands snapped away from rubbing her eyes. She put on her best narrow-eyed glare at whoever had the gall to walk into her and drew her shoulders back.

"Are you going to fight me?" She asked with an undercurrent of excitement.

Lore raised an eyebrow at the girl in front of her. "Why would I fight you?" she asked. She had just arrived on Nar Shaddaa after her run-in with the strange nautolan. She was not in a particularly good mood and if provoked would likely fight. Although, looking at the girl in front of her, she could hold her own.

Lore picked at her skin-tight black suit, wishing she had changed before leaving her ship. She was getting way too many unpleasant looks that made her skin crawl. It was one thing when she was expecting it, hoping for it even. She hated to admit she was distracted.

Katherine looked down at the shorter woman inscrutably for a few seconds. Finally, she sighed and crossed her arms, affecting what she would forever deny as being a pout. "Fine, be disappointing," she muttered ruefully. She could do with a good scrap. Her eyes returned to the other woman, this time studying her.

"Hey, buy me a drink!" Kat stated, somewhere between an order and a request. A big smile broke out on her face in an emotional about-face, disappointment forgotten. She uncrossed her arms and put her hands on her hips, elbowing some jerk who got a little too close. Her curiosity about the woman in front of her did quite a lot to dull any ill feelings she had. Her eyes raked up and down her figure, studying the weird black suit she wore with curiosity, totally unaware of what her almost leering gaze might imply.

Really, she just wanted to ask questions!

A smile twitched at the corner of Lore's mouth. "A drink? You look like you have already had a couple of those," she said, reciprocating as best she could the girl's energetic happy-go-lucky attitude.

Nonetheless, she walked with the taller girl towards a nearby bar. Lore was curious- the girl she walked with was obviously still just a girl, but she was massive- nearly half a foot taller than Lore, and Lore was not petite. "If anything, you should buy me a drink- you were the one who ran into me,"

Kat beamed and followed alongside the other girl. "I haven't even been able to find a bar. Everything here is too bright or in something I can't read," she explained with a bit of embarrassment. Then she smirked. "And I think it should be you buying the drinks; I'll have you know I was rubbing my eyes and couldn't see, which would make that little stumble your fault."

Besides, Kat didn't even have any money. She didn't even know what money here looked like; did they use the same stuff as they did on Tatooine? The aliens were different, so why would the money be the same?

They entered the bar, Kat looking around in wonder. It wasn't necessarily any different from other bars, but there was always something else to see! She returned her attention to her new companion, absently poking at her black suit. "What's this?" She asked because she didn't know.

Lore jumped when Katherine poked her in the ribs, right under her breast. "It's a fighting suit," she replied vaguely as she sat down at the bar. She ordered two drinks and then turned back to the girl. "And a costume, in a way," she said. She crossed her arms over her chest. This girl was quite curious and bold, almost like a child. "What are you doing on Nar Shadaa? You cant have been here if you are stumbling around covering your eyes and fighting people at random," she commented, glancing at the orange jacket she wore that had a suspicious blood-stain on it.

Kat looked much more interested now when the other girl said the magic words. 'Fighting suit!' She had to get one. "I took a nap in some alleged space-port and wound up here. Is Nar Shaddaa what this place is called?" She questioned. She would have said more, but the bartender - a Weequay - dropped off their drinks. She took a long look at the swirling concoction in the glass, marveling at it.

She lifted it up to her mouth, then sneezed into her arm. The smell was powerful, and she was unprepared. She sipped it, hummed happily, and returned her attention to the other woman. "And besides! Some people need a good punching, and I'm always willing to oblige!" She stated proudly, pulling at her jacket twice to emphasize her words. "I'm Katherine, by the way," she paused, then asked, "What's this called?" tapping her finger against the drink.

Lore raised an eyebrow. "This is Trandoshan Ale," she said, taking a sip of her own drink. The strong alcohol dulled her swirling gut. "And yes, I have to agree with you- some people do need a good beating," she replied, thinking of Krinn. "Im Lore," she continued, raising her glass. "You look like you could do with a guide," she said, looking at the girl.

"What's a Trandoshan?" Spilled from Kat's mouth, and an absent "Hi Lore," followed later. Kat bristled at the idea of needing a guide, she was perfectly able to make her way alone. However, maybe it wouldn't be so bad to have some company. Having someone able to read the signs in the city would be nice at least.

"I don't need a guide!" She said a little mulishly. "But... if you wanna follow me around that would be fine." Kat didn't quite hang her head, but her body stooped unconsciously, drawing in on herself in some misplaced shame. She perked up, "Hey! Where are you from? What was it like?"

"A Trandoshan is an alien," Lore replied, not in the mood to give the girl a science lecture. She took a long swig from her drink."If I am going to follow you, I need to change," she said. The world tipped a little and Lore placed a hand on the counter. She probably shouldn't have had another drink after all the drinks she had had on Sleheyron.

"I am from Roxuli, which is an extremely boring planet in the Expansion Region," she answered.

Kat made an expectant noise in her throat, she wanted to know more about Trandoshan's! She was disappointed then when Lore moved on, though she smiled when the other girl kept talking. "Lead on!" Kat said, saluting sloppily. There were always more things to see, so Kat thought, and wherever Lore was staying is probably pretty nice!

Before they left, Kat slammed the rest of her drink and placed it back down on the bar. This time it tasted significantly worse, but it was still something new! So Kat wasn't going to complain. "Where's the expansion region? Why is Roxuli boring? Why..." Kat continued to babble questions as they left the bar.
