The "Galactic Evolution"

Quickly she entered room 101 on deck 101, designed officially for briefings. It was a shiny room all in all. When one entered trough one of the two doors all to the left and right, one immediately oversaw some descending rows of compfy chaurs and connected rows of tables, much like a colliseum. Down at the centre, a pedestrial with a holoprojector took place, usually used for three dimensional briefings but right now fed with a slightly rewritten program.

Once again she was asked to, and agreed, to teach passing through and newly staying Jedi Padawans the essentials: The Jedi code.

But this time, she was there even before the ship wide message started, callung in all volunteers.

[Thread rules: Responses within 4 Days or getting skipped; Open to all Padawans until the Lesson starts; no death]

Matt stood up as he heard the message, stretching a bit. "This should be fun," he murmured and began walking to the class.

He'd thought about learning more on the Jedi Code, and this class was perfect.

As he walked in, Matt marveled at how much the class room looked like an arena. He looked around and sat down near the teacher.

"
Hello there. I'm Matt."

Leah had attended the first of the classes, she'd be damned if she was going the miss the second, and so hurriedly as she heard the message she made her way through the decks towards the room- having memorised the quickest route to room 101 deck 101, she was there fairly swiftly. Not long after Matt in fact, and as the door slid shut behind him, she emerged in its doorframe- nearly losing her nose to it.
Startled she stepped back in a huff, and with a grumble she activated the door and entered, offering a polite nod and smile to Taruna, and a curt nod to Matt. She sat a seat or so away from him and crossed her legs leaning back a little as she awaited the others to arrive, as no doubt they would. The Chiss teacher could certainly hold a room, and in truth, Leah was eager to hear part two of the class. "Think i might be early this time..." she muttered, though it was audible for all in present company to hear.

Taruna, the relatively young Padawan once again stood in the centre of the classroom, right next to the holo projector and looked at Matt with a friendly smile. "Hello Matt. Nice to meet you. Thanks for joining this.." she then noticed the other Padawan entering the room and was a little bit distracted when she finished the sentence with the word "...class"

Looking at Leah with a slightly surprised look on her face "Welcome back Leah. Did you forgot something?" and then smiled a little mischievous "Or are you really going to have the very same amazing lesson twice at the same day?"

A small smile would creep across Leah's face, somehow pleased with herself for managing to surprise Taruna. With a simply and honest shrug, she brought her datapad into view and readjusted just a little on her seat.

"No, i didnt forget anything. got my datapad right here" she waved it a little to re-affirm her point, a soft smile still present on her face as she leaned forward a touch "You give a good lesson, i just wanted to come by again, make sure i got everything for sure. If its one thing i am, it's Thorough"

Leah leaned back and drummed her fingers upon her lap, looking back and forth briefly between Taruna and Matt before settling on the former. "Im a keen learner"

Matt watched the exchange silently. He didn't know who the other student was, although he supposed that didn't really matter.

What slightly intrigued him was the fact that he didn't own a datapad.
Where does one buy a datapad? he thought. He rested his head on the top of his seat and waited for the lesson to begin.

"
I take it you were a student in another of her classes?"

"She indeed was." the Chiss answered and returned to her starting position, to get the remoted she used earlier today "Before I forget it again.. Does anyone need a pad?" would Matt answer to that, she would hand the young blonde padawan one while speaking "Since this class is a little smaller, I will do the lesson a little bit different. I will start with the Jedi Code, followed by the pillars and then we can use the spare time to clear some questions you may have.." she pointed at matt and ended with pointing at Leah "And any open questions you may have transferred from the first class today."

Waiting for the answer, she started the presentation, and the words

<Jedi Code>

Appeared behind her in the middle of the room, combined with the reducing of the general brightness to get more attention to the holo.

Leah looked across to Matt and flashed him a small but humble smile, and as Taruna answered his question she nodded along in affirmation of the fact "She's a good teacher, too" giving him a playful wink before returning her attention back to the Chiss, though Matt lingered in her thoughts for a moment as she considered his age.. he did look awfully young, but hey, if he was willing to learn, then good on him.

She nodded when Taruna pointed at her and opened the datapad, bringing up a new page as the lesson began. This lesson for her was to fill in the blanks, and she intended to do just that... and when the projection activated, her eyes were keenly fixed upon it.

He smiled back at Leah. As the Chiss asked if anyone needed a pad, Matt raised his hand and accepted the datapad with a grateful nod. He stayed silent, as he didn't have any questions.

Glad to have found a good teacher, he stretched a little and fixed his sight on the holopad.

Since both Students appeared to be quite attentive, the Chiss lady nodded very subtle and pointed at the words floating behind her. Her voice was calm, but again underlined with the enthusiasm of someone who needs to love the topic to talk about like she does "We begin with the easy part. The Jedi Code and it's five lines. Since I know the Jedi Code and the Pillars well, but do have my first day as teacher, I may not have the best teaching method, but I will try my best to make up for it with deep knowledge of the theme. While we are at it, what do you two make out of this?" she pressed the remote, and the words morphed into the first line of the Jedi Code:

<Jedi are the guardians of peace and justice throughout the galaxy.>

Leah smiled in recognition of the slide and glanced across the Matt, he unlike her hadnt attended the class before. Hopefully he'd find it as enlightening as she did. Crossing her legs Leah leaned back in her seat with her Datapad and quickly scanned through her notes from the previous lecture, and happy in the knowledge she had copied the slide word for word, returned to her fresh page and watched the slides.

A reason why Leah enjoyed the lesson was because of the passion that Taruna held for it. Her Force Sense was improving steadily, and despite her novice nature even without it she could tell that the Chiss had a love for either the topic or the teaching. It made learned from the Midnight Blue Woman very easy indeed.

Matt read the slide, remembering how many times he'd heard that phrase. He smirked a little. Everyone he'd met and was aware he was a Jedi had told him this at least once, and it's been burned in his head. "It's pretty much the basic founding principle of the Jedi, isn't it?" he speculated out loud, hoping for a response.

He turned on the datapad and typed down the sentence, for the sake of accuracy if he wants to go over it later. Matt could also see a glint in Taruna's eyes, one that showed him how enthusiastic she was about this topic.

"That's probably more correct than you wanted to say it" the woman smiled and looked at the female student, noticing the fact that she compared this with her prior lesson. No two classes where the same, even if the students would not change. Simply because there was too much to say and too little time to "They are the basic principles, with emphasis on the word basic. What everyone sees in them and wants them to be may vary greatly, but all opinions start there. Also, notice the choice of words. We're guardians, not enforcers. I will elaborate a little more when we get all five lines together" another subtle press on the remote, and a second sentence added itself, growing out of the shadow of the first line and connecting to it by means of some pink light rays

<Jedi are the guardians of peace and justice throughout the galaxy.
Jedi use the Force only for the pursuit of knowledge, to defend, and to protect.>

"Now, read them both. Do you see that they are complementing each other? How their meanings build up on each other like a Penrose triangle. They are interwoven. Do the meaning of the first sentence change when added the second for you?"

With a soft chuckle Leah leaned forward and began to type away on her datapad, remembering the slight commotion that first part of the slide made before the second part joined to compliment its meaning. It had even thrown her, as Taruna would no doubt recall from the young Padawan's question about the 'Right to Kill', but now having had time to reflect, she felt more at ease with it... even more so with the presentation of the second slide.

"It certainly clarifies it, yes." she flashed a knowing smile to the Chiss and returned her gaze to her datapad, finishing her input before returning her attention to the projections.

"Hmm, does that mean Jedi have to dedicate themselves to help others? Can't we sometimes do things because we want to, rather than because we're trying to help someone?"

Matt had pondered this before. It's why people felt the need to remind him of the Jedi code.

The Chiss shook her head carefully "The Code is not something you are punished for if you are not following it to the letter. But on the other hand.. We are all humanoids, not robots. We can not be awake all the time, going for all injustice that is roaming about and all evildoers lurking in the shadows. But we are the ones who can do what most others can not. A Jedi is not respected by his connection to the force, his Lightsaber prowess or their shiny robes. We are respected because we stand up when others do not dare, speak up when all are too afraid to do so, aid those in need without expecting a reward. We are role models for freedom and justice, but that does not mean we are also without fail, weaknesses and doubts." she coughed slightly, reminding herself not to let her own enthusiasm get the better of her and clicked the next part or the holo

<Jedi are the guardians of peace and justice throughout the galaxy.
Jedi use the Force only for the pursuit of knowledge, to defend, and to protect.
Jedi respect all life in the galaxy, in any form it may take.>

"Another addition," She spoke softly now "Is this line. It's for me one of the most important. We can be mighty. We can face entire imperial squads and mow them down before they shot a single shot. We can face beasts that are usually hunted by a dozen seasoned hunters with great losses. But strength, speed and Lightsabers do not make you a great Jedi." she pointed at her head "What's up there, your ideals, your self control, your will to do better and your eagerness to find a peaceful solution is what will make you a great Jedi."

Matt nodded. He was taking notes from every slide, and absorbing the information. He was disagreeing with some things, but decided against stating it, merely because no one cared.

"What would a Jedi do if he or she encountered a Sith Pureblood? It's a life form, but also a potential danger to the general peace?" he asked.

Taruna had to smile. It was always interesting to see someone taking the Code, putting it apart and see if there are holes. Like seeking holes in a net. It sounds strange, but nets can have holes. This was one of the ways to process things, and one of the more entertaining ones.

So she leaned her behind on the holo device and smiled at him. If he would expect some philosophical explanation of right and wrong, she intended to surprise him.

"You are here, sitting in a class about the Jedi Code. I accept the challenge of the hypothetical game, but I already know my answer. So to not have yours biased... When a pureblood Sith would come in here through that door over there," she pointed at the entrance door to her right "What would you do? Here and now?" she then crossed her arms before her, usually a gesture of impatience, but on her, connected with the attentive face, she more looked like someone waiting for something interesting to hear.

A smile slowly curled up his lips. There was a glint in Matt's eyes, the glint you would see on any youngster's face. The desire to explore, learn, and analyze.

"If a Sith Pureblood would come through here, I'd ask if he were a Jedi. If the answer would be yes, I might strike up conversation with him. If not, I'd whip my pistol out and shoot him or her. I'd probably die trying, however, considering the fact that a Sith Pureblood would probably be able to beat me in a battle of strength."

He shrugged, happy that someone had actually stopped and given him a plausible answer, even though it was a question.

Taruna nodded at that. "You do have a interesting Idea there, but in case he would be less friendly.. I would try to run. We are to respect all life in the galaxy. That includes your own too. Same would go for the Sith pureblood, if he's not on a killing spree." she bounced from the holoprojector to stand straight again "If he would enter this door, and prove hostile I would fight him. But only as long as it would need for you to escape and then run myself. Not because I want to feel, and probably die, like a 'hero'. But because You are the Jedi Masters of the next generation. No one knows how the things develop later, but I am certain we are responsible for making sure there still is a galaxy for you to change as you think it should be right."
