Validus paced around the room nervously. The room was large and open, made of stone and meant to seat many people as they listened to lectures and attempted to learn the ways of the Jedi. It was one of many such classrooms on Tython. Today, however, the floor was cleared for saber and force power training. Validus was extremely grateful to have this opportunity. He wanted to train under a master and to craft his own unique lightsaber. He understood that this master would most likely be demanding in regard to his expectations, but Validus was always a hard worker and had faith in his quick wit and learning abilities.
Wanting to be prepared when the master arrived, Validus took a seat and began to meditate. He focused on the force. This always had an extreme calming effect on him. His nervousness disappeared. All that was left was focus and the desire to become more powerful in the force. He sat and visualized himself performing lightsaber drills and focused hard on the correct techniques, thrust, parry, return to position, repeat. He leaped to his feet, whirled around, drew his lightsaber and began to perform the drills. His quickness and skill with the blade were evident. He hoped to impress his master with them, and to learn more about saber combat.
After a few minutes of warming up, he settled into his normal practice routine. He planned to keep on practicing until the master arrived. He wondered what he would be like, would his training be hard, would he allow him to craft his own lightsaber right away or would he have to wait for the master to decide that he was ready. Questions raced through his head, but the fear was gone now. Any outcome would be fine with Validus. So long as he was learning and improving he would be perfectly happy to do whatever the master desired. The master would arrive shortly and end his waiting and expecting.
