You are cordially invited to the Cloud City Investors Conference.... the invite went on further, explaining dress codes and side events before finally 'suggesting' a donation amount. Jedan laughed slightly at the audacity of suggesting such a high number, stowing the invite away inside his jacket as he stepped into his Executive Shuttle. Since the collapse of the business sponsoring the main expansion of Cloud City last week - due to the CNN report and investigation into misconduct at the board level - the business world had been in uproar, their indignation secretly hiding their interest in replacing the donor themselves.

Cloud City, like the other levitating settlements on Bespins, was set to be a gold mine of opportunity. Real Estate, Tibanna Gas and Manufacturing here in the Rim; safe and secure (or so it seemed) from the woes of the wider Galaxy. In many ways, the one who control Cloud City, controlled the Sector. However, Jedans interest was not in power from the more conventional sense, indeed such power often came at far to high a risk anyway.

No, his interest was in 'soft power' a phrase chucked around by Political Pundits and commentators, most of whom had little to no understanding of what it actually meant. Effectively, Jedan wanted to control strategic assets which would enable him to push for political control indirectly - finance, media, energy and transport, the four pillars of control that would enable domination.

Currently he controlled the Media, and courtesy of the recently collapsed business conglomerate, he also occupied a controlling interest in the financial sector. Through a shell company, he was hoping to secure an interest in energy today. This conference, far more than canapès and odd speeches to an already converted audience, went far deeper. He intended to use this conference as an elaborate facade to hide his own plans, and those of the Republics - the large crowds and tense security easily allowing him to slip away, under the auspices of 'business' and forge the deals he required to leverage out the latest stage of his endeavor.

Stepping out of his newly arrived shuttle, he cut a brisk figure, a simple black jacket - a Pseudo-Naval design - with a headset linked through to his Pack Class Computer (courtesy of the CNN group), he showed his invite to the security. Issued by the same company that now secured the event - the invitation came in the form of a data tube, encrypted passwords, with a biometric scanner activated by thumb-print. The company, which provided most of the local policing on this outpost, patrolled their uniformed guards around with side arms and batons - adequate security when accompanied with the space port style scanners everyone had to walk through.

Passing through without incident, Jedan rolled his eyes as his security man, Sullivan (a surly fellow with arms the size of tree trunks) tried to inform the security he didn't need to show his pass. Resolving the issue by presenting Sullivan's security pass to the irate looking Guard, Jedan walked into the conference hall proper. It was a large venue, with numerous side rooms and cafes to cater for smaller break off events - a main auditorium dominated the central area.

Walking over to the designated meeting place, Jedan watched as Sullivan kept a wary hand on his stun gun (the only weapon he had been allowed to carry into the premises) and tried to spy his associates.

OOC - This is OPEN to those with a valid reason to be here. Please note the security, so keep your weapons to a minimum/don't bring any if you don't want to cause a ruckus :) @Breeso and @Jinan B if you want to join, here's a tag! @Cameron Foster as well!
