- Name: Concordian Boar, or Concord Hog, along with other colloquial names. Females are also referred to as 'Sows'.
- Biology: Usually covered in short, brown fur, the Concordian Boar is capable of growing to great sizes. The largest recorded wild boar stood 4 meters tall, and seven meters long with an abdomen 2 meters in circumference. The males typically sport four tusks, two primary tusks, measuring sometimes, up to half the length of the creature, but curve into a crescent-shaped tusk angled about 40 degrees to the left and right sides of their snouts, and curve like a hook to a fine point. Wild Concordian Boars have been known to sharpen their tusks against rocks and trees, before and after fighting over territory. They walk on four thick muscular legs, with heavy two-toed hooves, and can sprint short distances at a top speed of 48 kilometers per hour, and can gore a man-sized target through light armor with it's primary tusks. Males also exhibit no inclination to run from a threat, charging at the sight of an unfamiliar creature, or human handler, however a sow's first instinct is protect their young, whether that means standing their ground, with the young at her back, or and though the females have less in the way of defensive tusks, they are often depicted as one of nature's greatest protectors, while the males are a local symbol of strength, and are often portrayed in art defending their young from Mandalorian hunters and poachers, as well as one of bravery and fertility. The largest recorded boar was a domesticated Boar Sow the weighed 680kg, this was considered grossly obese for a Boar.
Sows (females) are typically smaller than the males, and almost physically identical to males, although typically more lean, and sport shorter, more blunted tusks, as well as a denser skull, meant to be used as a ram, though, they can also charge roughly 12 kilometers per hour more than their male counterparts, and can bludgeon armor beyond repair if their young are threatened. Boar piglets are born roughly half a meter in size, and depend entirely on their mother and father for protection.
- Breeding: Concordian Boars reproduce sexually, with mammalian genitalia. They have been bred with standard porcine livestock, breeding a smaller, but stockier hybrid hog, but some still traditionally trap and domesticate the young of the Boar they had killed during the hunt, raising them often to breed for livestock.
- Strengths: Concordian Boars are hardy animals, with a very high tolerance for pain. A fully grown boar can easily shrug off shots from light blasters and slugthrowers, while charging. They can reproduce at as young as one year old, and give birth to sometimes six piglets at a time, making them ideal livestock, but are considered pests if not domesticated, as they can over run a small area quickly. Healthy Boars can also live for up to one hundred years.
In terms of combat, a fully grown boar can charge and topple over a landspeeder with ease, and have tusks capable of either bludgeoning or piercing most armors. Their tusks are also very heavy, and made of dense ivory, making them effective bludgeoning devices as well.
- Weaknesses: Dependent entirely on the size of the Boar, they have difficulty redirecting a charge, and often require something to stop them, or enough room to stop them, making them susceptible to flanking tactics used by Mandalorian hunters. However, in static melee, they are formidable.
- Diet: Boars typically eat tree-top fruits and vegetables, but have also been seen killing and eating Fanned Rawl when attacked by them.
- Behavior/Temperament: Naturally territorial and protective, they do not typically allow other animals, near them, keeping group numbers low, and usually confined to a Male Boar, his sow, and their piglets. In captivity, they are less prone to charging humans, if trained well, and are easily trained to be comfortable around humans.
- Communication: Boars vocalize with breeing, snorting, grunting, and growling. However, they communicate more through body language.
- Culture: While not sentient enough to have a proper culture, their significance to the inhabitants of Concord Dawn and by extension the localized Mandalorian culture, influencing everything from local cuisine, to the local pantheon of Mandalorian religion. Also, iconically, the figure head of the Concordian Boar is seen on many flagships and beskar'gam of the local farmers and raiders from the planet, and is often considered a symbol of strength.
- History: Concordian Boar have been here long before the first human settler, and lived abundantly alongside them, as livestock and sport, working their way into a position of respect by the first hunter-warriors, and carrying that tradition onward to the first Mandalorian settlers. While they are hunted on a widespread scale, throughout the planet, they are regulated by the local governments, and over-hunting is punished severely. In the early days, when hunter ggatheres began to fight for land, the biggest and most powerful boars were ridden as battlemounts, in the days before blasters were prevalent.
