Subterrel

Trael had been meaning to initiate his take over of Subterrel. Today was a great day to lay down the ground work, his company had a quarterly meeting. On top of that there was a summit later in the day for the various corporations on Subterrel to discuss taxes, various claim issues and other grievances. He planned on attending this meeting as the sole owner of the company that way he could sway things to his advantage and potentially orchestrate a take over or two.

He was being joined by an acolyte from the academy. From what he heard they were the apprentice of Karys now. Trael had on a simple suit inside his jacket he had a pair of vibroknives and a dozen throwing daggers. He knew a takeover of his company wouldn't be easy. His business partners had been beefing up their own security forces. From what he saw in his copy of the expenditure log there would be roughly a dozen guards or more.

As his ship made its way to the surface he switched over to the comms channel he had with Vossari. "You are my security if anyone asks. It will already be tense enough in there, they've been trying to buy me out since I gained my share. Don't forget your breath mask the atmosphere is slightly toxic from all the mining." He would make his way through his ship stopping at the armory area near the ramp. He grabbed his own breath mask and opened the ramp walking down it. "If you need a blaster or vibroblade I have some you could use."

He took in the planet he hoped to oversee sometime soon. It was a toxic heap of rock that was basically one massive mining network. They were on a landing platform connected to the companies HQ the sound of picks floating along the wind. He stood at the end of the platform where the path to the building started. He would wait for Vossari to join him before moving on, being a Sith didn't make him capable of taking on a dozen or so armed guards alone.

Vossari wasn't just some acolyte from the academy. He was a firecracker, passion made manifest, a gift to the Galaxy itself. Clad in their environmental suit, Vossari was safe as ever in the bubble boy outfit. He felt so frail in this suit, completely unable to show off the hair or the state of his taste in fashion. Still, on poisonous worlds like this, having a custom-tailored environmental suit came in handy.

Vossari looked up at the mountain of the man. "...You want me to be the bodyguard?" It was like a pebble guarding a boulder. Their size discrepancy was vast. At the mention of an offer of a blaster or knife, Vossari waved his hand, tut-tutting as he did so. He didn't need some cheap blaster or underhanded knife. He had his vibrosword and the full-blooded strength of yourh on his side.

They followed behind Trael across the landing platform as they slowly snaked their way into the building. "So, uh, what's the plan, chief?"

He looked down at Vossari giving them a quizzical look, "Is this your way of saying you aren't capable? Also I'm already involved in the company, how could I be the bodyguard?" Trael didn't doubt the acolytes abilities until his question. Why would an acolyte not feel capable of a simple security job. The acolyte denied the offer of a weapon getting a shrug from Trael.

As they made their way across the platform the acolyte asked a question Trael was sure they wouldn't like the answer to. "Well I don't exactly have a plan. It's hard to formulate one when you are unsure of how a situation will unfold. All I have is that I’m going to try and mentally manipulate the other owners into signing over full control to me." It didn't help Trael was always best when winging it. Plus he wasn’t sure what would transpire should he fail.

As they walked through the building everyone was greeting Trael and asking him questions about issues it would be apparent to Vossari that Trael was very hands on as he would stop and help out with a majority of the issues. They would eventually come to a door labeled Executive Conference Room.

Trael lead the way in holding the door open for Vossari. Inside was a simple wooden table with two men sitting down. Standing in between them was a hooded figure with 12 well armored and armed mercenaries behind him. Out of the 12 mercenaries two were more heavily armored than the others and had grenades across their chests. Trael would take a seat and telepathically contact Vossari, “I have a bad feeling about the one in the middle, watch him carefully.” As he got comfortable one of the men, a togruta, spoke up. “Good it seems we are all in attendance. I guess it’s time to begin the meeting. Who is the person with you Victor?”

Vossari stifled a chuckle at Trael's statement. No plan? They were just gonna wing it? Let the bullshittery begin. Twelve heavily-armored mercanaries, staring angrily at them. Then, within his head, he heard Trael speak. It was a new sensation - Vossari had not yet, nor had he ever, used telepathy outside of class. He reached out, like a hand in the dark, to connect with Trael's mind. I have a bad feeling about ALL OF THIS. Who brings an ARMY to a board meeting? The real difficulty was the focus telepathy took - he couldn't just let his mind wander while he was sharing his thoughts.

They raised their hand when the togruta spoke up. "Oh, me? I'm just the driver. Monsieur Choclatte, at your service." He put a hand on Trael's bulging shoulder, reconnecting with his mind through the Force. Good luck in here, buddy. I'm gonna make us a backup plan. The Togruta sighed after Vossari spoke, gesturing to the door.

"Well, I'm sorry, Mister Choclatte. Victor should have informed you - this meeting is for board members only." His bony fingers extended into a point, directly at the door. "If you wouldn't mind making your leave."

Vossari waved ta-ta to everyone and made his way outside. Instead of returning to the ship, though, they stalked through the halls of the board room, following mouse droids and security monitors towards the security room.. Every time a camera pointed in his direction, a small wave of the hand, and it turned away.

Eventually, Vossari found a small security room, with a
Network Security Droid seated at a terminal with many monitors. They showed Trael from many angles - each mercenary had their own body camera, pointed in at him, in addition to the vast security nexus that held them together. Perfect. Now for the money shot.

Vossari pointed his hands towards the droid and strained, trying desperately to influence its mind through technometry. It was a power they had practiced on the Academy, to influence the minds of droids and quickly read data. The Network Security Droid was far more advanced than any droid he had worked against, though, and it reacted instantly to the probe in its mind. A metallic blaster arm pointed up at Vossari. The acolyte broke concentration and instinctively drew his saber, igniting and cutting through the droid in one motion.

He pushed the droid out of its seat and tried again - without a droid mind keeping the network safe, it was much easier for him to influence the terminals. As he reached out with the Force, he felt each camera - each lens felt like his own eye. He could see everything. And when he felt totally in-sync with the multitude of cameras, his many many eyes, he closed them, all at once. The entire camera system shut down.

Step one, complete.

As Vossari left all he heard through the mental connection was a sigh. “Victor why did you bring them in here? This meeting was only for us.” Trael examined the mercenaries he could sense uneasiness amongst them. If only Vossari didn’t leave him alone with a dozen guards this would be much better. "You brought your friends why couldn't I bring mine? If it is a board member only meeting then they should leave." Motioning to the small army of men. The other two scoffed as he spoke. In unison they retorted back, "They're our security it's different than a chauffer. If you brought security with you they would've been allowed to stay."

After going over the various expenses and revenue streams plus other corporate mumbo jumbo. They had briefly gone over the plans for the summit later that day when the other owner, a heavy set Bothan, spoke up. "So, Victor are you still unwilling to sell your 32% of the company. We're not going to increase our offer eight million credits is plenty for it." Trael's gaze shifted to the man and narrowed. Ah so we're back to this. Guess this time there trying to intimidate me into it. "I've said multiple times before I'm not selling for less than sixteen million credits. It's roughly what I'd earn in my remaining lifetime at the current amount we earn."

He reached out with the force trying to influence both of their minds when he hit a wall in the force. His confusion was visible as the hooded man began speaking. "Their minds aren't yours to influence they are mine Sith. Now it's time to finally rid myself of you. Kill him." The armed guards began to raise their rifles at Trael. Using the force he flipped the table and shoved it into the group. He caught most of them the two he didn't he slammed into each other as he ran out the door.

He telepathically reached out to Voss as he tried to find a place to lay low. "There's another force user here. He blocked my attempt at manipulating my targets we need to meet up now." He eventually settled on a storage closet deeper inside the building. He was pacing inside as he began formulating a plan in his head to deal with the threats. Deciding to relax and meditate to immerse himself deeper into the force he would need every ounce of power to survive.

Vossari was hustling down the halls when Trael's invasive thoughts buzzed into his mind. Maybe you should've thought of a plan. He snickered under his breath. What Trael hadn't realized was, allowing Vossari to communicate telepathically meant that Voss could just insult him from anywhere without fear of immediate retribution. The power went to his head immediately. I've got a plan: I'll bail you out of this for a fair take of your business after this.

With the security system offline, Vossari had an easier way to escape. With all the mercenaries searching for TraelHe made his way back out to the landing pad, to the Rasmus Gun Ship that Trail had brought them here in. A single guard remained outside, guarding the pad with little more than a suit of armor and a blaster rifle. Wordlessly, Vossari coiled the force around the guard's leg and ripped it, flinging the soldier off the helipad, down to the mines below.

Hope he brought a parachute!

Vossari flung himself into Trael's gunship and started the boot up sequence as he took a chance to regain his breath. Both the technomancy and the ambush on the guard had drained him. He'd need to lay off the Force for a second to regain himself. Luckily, wrapped in his fingers were the controls to two heavy laser turrets, a light laser turret, and a battery of concussive missiles. It seemed like that could be a good negotiating tool. Would just have to avoid drawing too much attention, or they'd have the planetary navy on their ass.

Time for a show. Vossari booted up the gunship, and it hummed to life. Trael wound feel a fainter buzz from Vossari's mind, as the Acolyte huffed and puffed. Point me at 'em, chief. The ship lifted off, floating around the building like a spiral as Vossari searched the past the glass facade with the HUD of his visor. He was starting to love having an environmental suit to help him out in moments like this.

Trael had just finished pooling his power when Vossari made his comments. He didn't get a response back all he got was a window into Trael's superior sensing in the force and the emotions with it. Trael would walk out of the closet into the majority of the guards. The fear from the guards and unbridled anger from Trael went to Voss from the connection.

The guards were surprised to see him come out of the closet, literally. As Vossari rotated around the building he would see Trael on one side of the hallway and eight guards on the other. Trael used the force to shatter the glass launching the shards at the guards. He noticed the spearhead of their formation was the guard with the grenade sash. Using the force to press the button exploding it and the hallway with it.

Voss would see and feel the flames from the explosion engulf Trael. As it dissipated he would see Trael holding a barrier around him his suit jacket was almost completely burned away. He would watch as Trael got launched down the hallway and the hooded figure making his way towards him igniting an orange lightsaber.

He tried to slam a strike down on Trael when he threw a knife at him. The man successfully deflected the knife but left himself open. Trael pushed the man into the ceiling and using the humid toxic air to crystalize around his ankles and hold him up momentarily. He would call out to Voss telepathically, "Shoot that motherfucker."

Vossari thought about advocating for a diplomatic solution. Now that they had a gunship, the calculus for their engagement was totally changed. Maybe they could get him to relinquish his hold on the Board of Directors, get them to sell their shares? But then, the command from Trael came in, and Vossari was all too happy to oblige. Their HUD zoomed in on the trapped force The laser batteries screamed as red blaster fire rained through the glass windows of the board room. The Force User, whoever he was and whatever his mysteries, was drowned in a rain of burning laser.

Motherfucker = Shot. Vossari beamed beneath his helm, amber eyes trailing on the controls for the gunship. It was like a power fantasy brought to life. He felt invincible in this craft. They wanted to keep the guns spinning, firing, and burn down this whole fucking building. A modicum of restraint won out as Vossari telepathically messaged Trael back. Let's goooooooooooooooo. He whooped.

Emergency lights blared on the building, and durasteel shutters went down, cutting off Vossari's line of sight from Trael. Because this was a skyscraper built near a mining facility, safety was at the center of their architect's concerns. As flame raged, formed from the explosive din of the blasterfire on the toxic air. The flames were building, intensifying on the floor and ceilings. A white foam rained from the ceiling's automatic as a droid voice blared on the building's speakers. "ALERT ALERT - FIRE DETECTED ON LEVELS 103-112!" Red lines whirred as panicked civilians began to scramble about in fear. The gun battle had attracted some attention after all.

Oh shit. Get to the top. Get the board, and let's evac. Damn. The Planetary Defense Force was definitely on the way. Maybe they should have practiced more 'espionage' in this little game of 'corporate espionage.'

Trael had to use a force barrier to prevent himself being hit with the little debris Voss's attack made. As he cleared the rubble the windows had already shut. Trael noticed the man's saber on the floor quickly scooping it up and igniting it as he made his way to the stair well.

As he slammed open the door one of the mercs was making his way past. "What the fu.." Was all he could get out as the orange blade sliced through his midsection. Trael sprinted up the stairs till he got to the top floor. Stopping to catch his breath before he made his way in.

Force pushing the door open he impaled another guard on the wall with it. He could sense the fear coming from another room. Stepping through the door way another guard was waiting blaster aimed. He hesitated at the sight of the crimson glowing eyes, long enough for Trael to pull him into his blade impaling him and discarding the body.

As he approached the door it reeked of fear. It gave Trael power, desire, hunger. He kicked open the door throwing the lightsaber into the guard. His body slumping to the floor as the saber burned through the wall. He grabbed both men by the throat pulling them to him. "Are you ready to sign away everything to me now?" Surprisingly the two men did not waiver in their resolve neither backing down.

He made his way to the window tearing away the shutters with the force. His grip had loosened on the men just tight enough to remind them of what he could do. He would telepathically link to Voss. "Come up to the top floor and open the hatch. I'll get in from here."

Vossari navigated the gunship upwards, avoiding rubble and debris as he could. The flames started to expand, and the damage the explosions and heavy blaster fire had caused to the structure of the skyscraper were starting to become evident. A large chunk of rebar tumbled from a higher floor, striking the rearmost engine of the craft. Vossari hung on and stabilized the craft.

Vossari's emergency console began to blare red - without the second engine, the lift of the gunship was eviscerated. All Vossari could do is touch the gunship down, safely, some floors far beneath them. They would need another way to reconvene and trap the board.

Uhhhhhhhhhhh............bad news. Ship is grounded. Vossari careened the gunship lower, lower, towards the mines, before finding a safe place to land it. Eventually, by the entrance to the mines, Vossari found a place to land. Trael was now a hundred levels away. Their telepathic connection felt weaker.

We need to find a new way outta here.

Trael had been slowly choking the life from his victims and releasing to give them a sense of dread. He then slammed them to the ground with the force kneeling beside them. Placing the contract down in front of them "If you sign everything away I won't kill you and your entire bloodline." Both men looked up to him with shock in their face. They didn't sign the contracts giving him full control of the company.

He called the saber into his hand from the other room. As he clipped it on his belt Voss's message came in about the state of his ship. My ship is what now? The anger could be felt by the acolyte as he asked the question. Trael gathered the paper work before slicing through both of the men laying on the floor.

As he stood up and could sense the connection weakening the building shuttered. As Trael ran to the window and looked down he could see that it was oddly leaning and slowly moving along the lean. It was leaning to the side opposite where Voss had chosen to land. He quickly ran to the other side as the building began turning side wards. Launching himself outwards with the force and landing on the outside sliding down the building.

It wasn't long before he could walk along the building. He used the sprinted using the force trying to get past the breakage before it feel. He reached it just as the building fully split and began falling to the ground jumping to the other piece. He landed roughly on his left shoulder hearing a cracking sound and feeling pain.

After laying there, for what felt like forever, but was really a couple minutes he stood up. His shoulder was obviously injured but he couldn't tell to what extent. As he had made it down a few dozen floors the connection had regained some strength.
Well at least I'll be able to claim the insurance on the building. I'm making my way down to you. Where did you park the ship? As he was talking telepathically to Vossari he made his way down to the ground level.

The tower began to wobble and topple, debris spraying across the mining landscape. Mine workers pointed and exclaimed at the collapse of the tower above, scattering across the mine's entrance to brace for cover. Vossari scattered away from the building, steering the skiff towards a grassy knoll some space away from the massive skyscraper before the engine gave out. They zoomed in their hud to watch, from a distance, as the building collapsed. Vossari groaned.

With the collapse of the building, the other owners of the mine had died. Since Vossari had shut off the security of the buildings, there would be no account of who attacked the building. Could always be framed as an accident. Or a terrorist attack. Or a meteor strike. Who knows! That seemed like a champion-level problem to figure out.

What was acolyte-level was working on this ship. Vossari got a speeder from the cargo hold and zoomed towards Trael's location. Once intercepted, Vossari would explain the problem. "Okay, hear me out, we can still salvage this." If they salvaged the ship, at least. Which seemed likely. Vossari withdrew a tool kit to tinker with the engine, drawing on the experience of piloting a craft.

It was a minor problem that shut off the engine, fortunately. Debris was caught in one of the rotors. Once extracted, the engine ran smoothly. They could leave.

"But, uh, I'll leave the ideas to you next time."
