CNSDF
Ever Faithful, Ever Vigilant

The Crytek Naval Self Defense Force was created during the span of peace between the first and second Hutt Wars. A navy was considered by Director Ishikawa to be absolutely vital in the defense of CARD and its allies and in the execution of the corporation's goals, and so the Legates, following his lead, organized and formed the Naval Self Defense Force - better known as the CNSDF.

An elite military force drawn off of ex-Navy personnel and especially gifted civilian pilots and mercenaries, the CNSDF is a highly trained, high-tech force that makes the best of the advanced technology at its disposal. While it is always outnumbered, it is never outgunned - from revolutionary Ion Array Cannons to withering batteries of hypervelocity railguns to rapid-fire turbolasers and quick-firing flak cannons, CNSDF warships are the ultimate in naval firepower and are a force to be reckoned with on the battlefield.

In addition to its fleet of capital ships, the CNSDF maintains two secondary branches; the CASDF and the CNSDF Marine Corps.

The CASDF, or Crytek Aerial Self Defense Force, is composed entirely of fighters and gunships. Several hundred fighters strong, CASDF reports directly to the Navy and so is integrated into its command structure. From advanced stealth fighters to rugged and reliable fighter-bombers and heavy gunships, the CASDF is just like the navy: A high-tech, high-power military force that makes up for its small numbers with devastating firepower and indomitable determination.

The Marine Corps is the last and smallest branch of the CNSDF, and were created by dissolving the Crytek Security Bureau and absorbing its forces into the Marines. Since then, the Marines have become very selective in their recruiting and will only accept highly trained and skilled soldiers with a good head on their shoulders - as such, CARD's Marines have very quickly earned a reputation as being a fast, vicious, and professional fighting force that gets the job done without inflicting collateral damage. They defend CARD's terrestrial and orbital facilities, serve aboard warships, and operate the weapons systems on many of the CNSDF's capital ships and dropships.

It is worth noting that many Marines are ex-Republic, leading to the formation and spread of pro-Republic and pro-Jedi sentiments, which has in turn lead to the force's desire to become more active in the war. It is, therefore, very likely that the CNSDF will see action in the near future.

Other Branches

Where the Crytek Marine Corps is the corporate Broadsword, the Special Operations Legion is the company’s scalpel. A small and highly trained fighting force armed with the best weapons available in the galaxy and driven by strong bonds between soldiers and corporate loyalty, the S.O.L. lives up to its reputation as a top-notch fighting force capable of going absolutely anywhere and accomplishing any objective, regardless of the odds against them.

A slightly informal force, the Legion allows a tremendous degree of variety and flexibility within its ranks. From former pirates to bounty hunters to ex-SOLAG operators, many a warrior have found their place within the ranks of the Special Operations Legion. Some are drawn by the pay, others are drawn by the tight social bonds that knit the Legion together, and still others are drawn to the Legion in the hopes that, by serving the corporation and its goals of achieving galactic stability, they’ll be able to do the galaxy some good without any red tape getting in their way.

The Legion is typically deployed to guard sensitive installations and projects, to hunt down traitors and corporate enemies, to open negotiations with potential business partners, to conduct snatch-and-grab operations on enemy soil, to handle hunter-killer operations, and to otherwise tackle any problem that cannot be quickly, quietly, and violently handled by the Marines. A true jack-of-all trades force, the rugged and informal Legionnaires are equally at home as spies and diplomats as they are on the battlefield - this ability to effectively multitask has made them an invaluable asset to CARD, and as such no expense is spared when it comes to arming and equipping them.

Chimera Team was founded four years ago by Ulysses Ishikawa and Sonam Winters. Recognizing the need for an advanced attack and reconnaissance force capable of performing above and beyond the capabilities of the Marines and the Legion, Ishikawa ordered Winters to organize and found a team of commandos unlike anything the galaxy had ever seen.

Winters succeeded.

Created from over one hundred Force-Sensitive Commandos, drawn from the ranks of Rogue Jedi and Force-sensitive soldiers, these troops have been rigorously drilled in the military applications of the Force and the use of conventional weapons. Chimera Team has swiftly earned a reputation for being the best of the best; rigorously trained, highly motivated, and equipped with the absolute best that CARD has to offer, the Team is a fast and heavily armed strike force that knows no equal. While the team’s focus on core force powers with practical military applications and the use of small arms and bladed weapons tends to put them at a disadvantage in terms of their overall skill with the Force, their ability to put an overwhelming amount of firepower on a single target in a very small period of time tends to outweigh any inherent weaknesses they have with the Force.

Capable of moving faster, hitting harder, reacting quicker, and pulling off superhuman feats regular soldiers are incapable of matching, these men create a powerful and versatile fighting force that has been successfully deployed to multiple theaters of battle all across the Galaxy. While costly to maintain, Chimera Team’s tactical value to CARD is immeasurable and is considered to be well worth its cost of operation.

Details of the Fleet

-XF 'Lion' Class Frigate
The XF ‘Lion’ Heavy Gunship toes the line between strike craft and Frigate. Too big to be classified as a gunship but too small to be branded a true Frigate, this ‘mini-frigate’ packs a nasty punch into a pint-sized package. Modeled after aging Sviet-class gunship, this heavy duty vessel boasts four spinal weapon mounts, two light turrets, and four weapon mounts around the cockpit. Fast and nimble for a ship of its size, Lions rely heavily on their speed and agility to escape trouble. Able to sprint out of the way of heavy anti-aircraft artillery while still boasting enough armor and shielding to shrug off hits from light weaponry, the XF class Frigate is a high-powered and economical solution to CARD’s need for a small capital craft.

Length: 90M
Crew: 30
Passengers: 200 and/or armored vehicles/freight in cargo bay.
Armament:
-2x 80MM hypervelocity anti-shipping railguns [ROF: 10 RPM]
-2x Heavy Proton Torpedo Launchers
-4x Heavy Laser Cannons [Per-Barrel ROF: 1,500 RPM]
-2x Twin-linked 30MM gatling mass driver turrets [Per-barrel ROF: 2,000 RPM]

NOTE: The ship bears a striking resemblance to the popular Sviet-class gunship, which is in wide use as a light freighter and escort ship. As such, XF class ships are left brightly painted, usually with the colors of a particular freight company, in order to disguise them as simple freighters. Also note that the gatling mass drivers are covered with a rectangular shroud, protecting the barrels from damage.

-CV 'Gallant' Class Heavy Corvette
The CV ‘Gallant’ heavy corvette is another design created entirely within CARD. Her primary armament is a Heavy Beam Cannon, almost identical in operation to the secondary beam cannons of the CNSDF Athens. This spinal-mounted weapon has a ninety degree firing arc in front of the ship which, combined with its shockingly high speed, allow Gallant class corvettes to make fighter-like strafing runs on hostile capital ships. While they’re hard-pressed to deliver a killing blow in a single hit, a clever captain can usually overwhelm a target’s shields with a mix of the cannon and the Gallant’s secondary weapons, which’ll allow him to make surgical strikes on his target’s primary systems using the Corvette’s beam cannon.

Unfortunately, while considerable speed and plenty of firepower are in this ship’s favor, it’s armor and shielding are unimpressive, forcing CV class ships to remain mobile or to seek shelter behind more heavily defended allies.

-DX 'Guardian' Advanced Destroyer
The DX Advanced Destroyer was designed as the counterpart to the DCX Advanced Cruiser. Built to take full advantage of CARD's proprietary Advanced Ion Beam Cannon technology, the ship was designed around a pair of Ion Cannon Batteries that run the length of the vessel. With a hull made of advanced composite armor and an extremely rugged honeycombed deck design with hydraulic reinforcing struts and thick structural beams, this ship packs an incredible amount of tonnage into a very small vessel.

Her systems are powered by three heavily armored fusion generators, all of which are laser-cooled for maximum efficiency. While slow due to her great weight, she is very agile and can turn very quickly to engage a threat, allowing her to quickly bring her main gun batteries to bear. Her systems are not as advanced as those on the DCX, but they are still respectably modern and generally outclass that which is available to the Republic or Hutts.

As is typical of CARD designs, crew survivability is a primary concern and so the ship boasts dozens of redundant systems and backups; from spare lifeboats to auto-sealing blast doors to emergency generators and oxygen supplies, a DX 'Guardian' is a very, very tough ship to outright kill and is a force to be reckoned with on any battlefield despite its diminutive size.

-PD302 ‘Archer’ Class Destroyer
Built off Malice-class hulls purchased from the Hutt Empire, these ships are no longer recognizable as Malice Gunships. With sweeping design changes made to the ship’s exterior and interior superstructure, the ship now serves as a powerful picket ship instead of a mobile gun and missile platform. The backbone of any CARD patrol group, Archers are often found accompanied by a wing of fighters, and can always be found defending their larger sister ships. While barely able to keep up with the Cruisers of the Naval Self Defense Force, they more than make up for their lack of speed and agility with powerful shields and incredibly rugged hulls, allowing them to soak up just as much firepower as they can dish out.

Length: 300M
Crew: 200 + 50 Marines
Passengers: N/A
Armament:
-2x Forward Triple Beam Cannon Turrets [10 seconds of cool down for every 5 seconds firing]
-6x Heavy Railgun Turrets [ROF: 30RPM]

-CCX 'Liberty' Carrier
The Liberty class Carrier, designed by CARD, built by Costa Industries, crewed by veterans of the Republic Navy, and captained by a twenty-year veteran of the Republic Navy and a veteran of the Alsakan Crisis, is the second largest warship in the CNSDF and is arguably the most capable. While not the most heavily armed or the most heavily armored of CARD's warships, her cavernous hangar bays, automated production lines, extensive refit facilities, and unique Bulwark Shield Generator - which extends the ship's shields a full kilometer around her in every direction - serve to make her an invaluable support ship.

Her only disadvantage is her lack of mobility. The slowest ship in the entire fleet, she's often found limping along behind her faster and more capable escorts, and so is usually restricted to defensive actions. Currently, she serves CARD as a mobile base and thus is not found on the front lines.

Length: 735 Meters
Crew: 1,500 + 300 Marines
Passengers: 6,000
Armament:
-2x Spinal Railguns [ROF: 10RPM]
-50x Dual Heavy Laser Cannons [ROF: 2,400 RPM]
-30x Dual Heavy Flak Cannons [ROF: 140 RPM]
Ship Complement:
-120x Fighters
-20x Gunships
-10x Assault Dropships
-10x Armored Shuttles
-14x Stealth Shuttles

Ships in this class:
-CNSDF Spirit of Fire, CCX 001

-CX ‘Pelican’ Pocket Carrier
The Pocket Carrier is a destroyer converted by CARD to serve as a light carrier and raiding ship. Small, fast, and armed with heavy missiles and point-defense guns, the CX Class is able to get in and get out in a hurry, all while laying the hurt on anyone that tries to harm it or its charges. What it lacks in armor and firepower it makes up for with speed and shield strength, and, with its extensive repair facilities and internal manufacturing yard, it is capable of repairing and rearming both its own fighters and other ships in the fleet, making the Pelican an invaluable tactical asset.

Length: 320M
Crew: 400 + 200 Marines
Passengers: 500
Armament:
-16x Heavy Missile Tubes
-20x 20MM Hypervelocity Railguns [ROF: 3,500RPM]

-30x Starfighers
-4x Gunships/Dropships
-1x Assault Dropship

Ships in this class:
-CNSDF Olympus, CX001

-DCX ‘Spirit of Athens’ Class Advanced Cruiser
The DCX ‘Spirit of Athens’ Class Advanced Cruiser was built entirely in-house by CARD. From her engines to her targeting systems to her weapons, a Spirit of Athens is a technological marvel. Making use of advanced directed energy weapons, powerful shielding, and a highly experimental antimatter reactor, the Athens is easily a generation ahead of its time.

Eschewing the heavy turret-mounted railguns and turbolasers of similar ships, the Athens opts instead for a single ‘Ion Array Cannon.’ A long-range artillery weapon, the IAC gun combines the firepower of three separate ion beam cannons into a single devastating beam, or into as many as six smaller beams for use against multiple targets or for anti-subsystem work. Accelerated down the length of the ship’s hull into an emitter array wrapping around the middle of the bow, the Athens has a 180 degree horizontal and 90 degree vertical firing arc for its main gun, giving it the firepower of a spinally mounted weapon but none of the strict limitations to the firing arc.

Her secondary weapons are similar in design, consisting of a host of advanced Beam Cannons. While tiny in size, they boast pinpoint accuracy and incredible firepower; in battle, the automated cannons are used like scalpels to gut strike craft and to disable the turrets and systems of unshielded capital ships that wander too close. The downside is their low refire rate and high heat buildup, requiring that a cannon cools down for at least one second for every second it is fired.

Many of the ship’s systems are controlled by an advanced onboard AI housed within a series of quantum computers. The targeting and fire control systems, along with engineering and navigation, are all controlled by three separate AI’s; together, the master AI and three subordinate AI’s work together to aid the ship’s crew in rapidly and efficiently dealing with a situation.

Lastly, her hull is made of heavily reinforced alloys, ablative plating, and honeycombed ceramics, affording the ship considerable armor and toughness in spite of her relatively light tonnage. However, her armor is still weak for a ship of her size, forcing the Athens to rely on her powerful ray and particle shields for defense against incoming attacks.

Length: 450 Meters
Crew: 400 + 200 Marines
Passengers: 300
Armament:
-1x Ion Array Cannon [ROF: 20 seconds of cool down for every 5 seconds of firing.]

-DDX ‘Reconciliation’ Class Republic Assault Cruiser
The DDX class formed the backbone of the Republic Fleet during the first Hutt War. Built around a crude Ion Beam Cannon, the Reconciliation served as the ‘poor bloody infantry’ of the Republic Fleet, charging into tight quarters with Hutt ships so that it could use its powerful but short-ranged Cannon to literally gut enemy vessels while punching hundreds of holes in them with its rapid-fire turbolasers and flak guns. Since coming into possession of several examples of this ship class, CARD has made some important modifications; they have redesigned it entirely for assault by lightening its armor and shedding unimportant weapons systems, redesigning the power systems, and most importantly, giving it modernized engine systems.

Now a true assault cruiser, it boasts powerful shields and engines but weak armor; capable of closing fast and hitting hard, a Reconciliation is best used in high-speed strafing runs against enemy capital ships, so that it can bring all of its firepower to bear in a single run and then accelerate away while firing with its rear-facing weapons, only to loop around and do it all again, all while minimizing its exposure to return fire from hostile vessels.

Length: 500 Meters
Crew: 350 + 100 Marines
Passengers: N/A
Armament:
-1x Heavy Ion Beam Cannon [6 second cool down for every second fired.]
-2x Quad Rapid Fire Turbolasers [ROF: 160 RPM]
-6x Twin Rapid Fire Turbolasers [ROF: 80 RPM]
-8x Quad Heavy Laser Cannons [ROF: 320 RPM]
-14x Twin-Barreled Flak Cannons [ROF: 120 RPM]

Ships in this class:
-CNSDF Taris, DDX 002
-CNSDF Coronet, DDX 003

-BCX 'Summit' Class Dreadnought
The BC series of Dreadnoughts, better known the Summit Class, is a line of kilometer-long super capital ships that saw service primarily during the Alsakan Crisis. Mounting two 650 meter long Magnetic Accelerator Cannons and a host of close-in weaponry and missiles with which to ward off attacks, the Summit represents the ultimate in naval artillery. While slow and outdated, it boasts the biggest guns and thickest armor of any warship in the galaxy. A unique honeycombed hull design, the placement of the bridge within the ship’s core, incredible tonnage, reinforcement struts and integrity fields, and multiple layers of redundant systems all ensure that a Summit can take a thrashing in a fight and still remain combat-capable.

The Summit that CARD came into possession of has been extensively modified, leading to its designation to be changed to ‘BCX’. Its five fusion generators have upgraded to take advantage of the latest in laser cooling technology, while its fire control systems and engines have been replaced with top-of-the-line components, bringing the ship out of the Alsakan Crisis and into the Hutt Wars. Her primary and secondary mass drivers have been replaced with modern railguns, giving her vastly improved firepower over the original design. While her shields are still primitive, being scarcely fifty percent as powerful as any other ship in her weight class, her incredibly thick armor more than makes up for this shortcoming since she has the raw tonnage to soak up salvo after salvo.

CARD has also modified the point defense systems, replacing the old mass drivers and railguns with quad laser cannons and flak cannons. A fighter launch bay has been incorporated into the vessel’s stern, allowing the BCX to carry 20 heavy fighters, 4 gunships, 2 assault dropships, and several prefabricated defensive structures and scientific facilities. With these modifications and others, the CNSDF Thermopylae serves as the bulwark of any offensive made by CARD forces.

Length: 1,015 Meters
Crew: 2,300 + 500 Marines
Passengers: 4,000
Armament:
-2x Spinal Railguns [ROF: 6 RPM per barrel]
-12x Triple-Barrel Railgun Turrets [ROF: 60RPM Per Barrel]
-80x Quad Laser Cannons [ROF: 2500RPM]
-40x Twin Barreled Flak Cannons [ROF: 60RPM Per Barrel]
-48x Heavy Ship-to-Ship Missile Tubes
Ship Complement:
-20x Fighters
-4x Gunships
-2x Assault Dropships
-4x Armored Shuttlecraft

NOTES: This ship’s point defense systems - the Quad Laser Cannons and Flak Guns - have two critical dead spots: Directly behind the ship, between the engine banks, and directly atop the ship, above the observation deck. Their coverage is greatest along the ship’s flanks. The nose is unprotected, but the turreted railguns and main guns cover that field of approach. The observation deck can be jettisoned and can function as an emergency hyperspace-capable escape pod. Also, the ship’s comms arrays are not tied into the computer systems; remotely hacking the ship is impossible.
