DESCRIPTION​

Cyclobeamer weapons are a direct development of archaic beam tube technology, scaled up to artillery size and using a specialized recursive amplification mechanism to boost their output. In terms of power, cyclobeamers are roughly equivalent to conventional turbo lasers.

Descended from simpler, far less efficient weapons of similar power which were mounted on the warships which protected the original Tionese settlers, cyclobeamers fire a split second continuous beam of magnetically confined plasma, energized and launched at exponentially higher velocity than a standard beam tube or beamer weapon. This results in a great deal of damage potential against even heavily armored targets, roughly double that of an equivalent turbolaser cannon of similar scale, although the effective range of a cyclobeamer is about half that of a comparable turbolaser. Cyclobeamers come in light, medium and heavy varieties.

Cyclobeamers are typically mounted on warships of corvette scale or larger, however they are sometimes used as ground-based artillery as well. Ground-based cyclobeamers are often placed on tall towers to ensure good range and angles of fire.

Cyclobeamer weapons originated in the Satrapy, and have subsequently been copied and adopted by a number of other parties in the Stygian Reaches. Cyclobeamers allowed for much higher rates of fire and better accuracy at (relatively) longer ranges, and gave Satrapese warships a brief period of dominance, during which the Satrapy greatly expanded its borders. The tides turned after other powers in the region copied the technology.

Restricted. Cyclobeamer weapons are considered heavy artillery, and are generally only permitted for military use.

To create an equivalent to turbolaser weapons to be used in the Stygian Reaches.

RESTRICTIONS​

Cyclobeamer weapons are only manufactured within the Stygian Reaches, and are not generally used or available in the old Galaxy unless specially imported.
