DESCRIPTION
The D.A.N. is a dirt cheap translator/protocol droid made by Cybot Galactica. This is an entry level droid created for those who could not afford more expensive personal assistants. The manufacturing is solid, but the programing of these droids was rushed in early development resulting in a large batch of D.A.N. droids that have severe personality quirks, inquisitive minds, and less than stellar translating capabilities.The D.A.N. is a work horse droid that doesn't always do the work you asked. These droids are fairly popular among underworld types and lower income businesses who don't have the resources to dedicate to droid labor. As such they aren't a common sight unless you find yourself on the wrong end of the galaxy. After several rounds of testing and production modern D.A.N. droids are more effective at their original programing, but their reputation as lousy translators is already set in stone. They are often given to children as a plaything and not regarded as serious droids.
