Brash and cunning, Dahar Kern is a survivor of both de facto slavery and forced service. Pragmatic and forceful, Dahar has a tendency to push the buttons of those around him at times. A darkly humorous extrovert, Dahar enjoys a strong drink, and likes to see his enemies suffer before capitulation. While occasionally he has bouts of nihilistic thoughts due to the state of the galaxy. When roused however Dahar is determined and ruthless when pursuing prey.
BIOGRAPHY:
Born on Dantooine into a high family enthralled to the Sith/Imperial remnant, it was nearly impossible for a Kern's prospects to be any higher. His family for three generations had been fodder for the Empire. Dahar's dreams from an early age were dark and unpleasant, so much so that he was told to keep them to himself, rather than frighten his younger sibling Mira. Baron Lira Xin Kern, his father, arranged for an escape, but was killed for resisting an imperial decree. An officer sympathetic to his family's plight offered to smuggle Dahar to what he claimed would be safety, for a sizable fee.
Sadly, the plot was a ruse and Dahar ended up in the hands of a forced labor unit. His title stripped, his royal line purged, and utterly betrayed, Dahar was brutally alone to face death in the mines...
After serving in the mineral mines on a sweltering jungle planet far from the galactic core, Dahar came to the attention of an Imperial officer named Krieg. He noticed Dahar’s uncanny luck, and ability to survive the vicious creatures who made short work of the other slaves. Dahar saved the officer’s life during an uprising, and in exchange, he became the man’s attache and servant. Hoping to cultivate the young man’s abilities, Krieg had him trained in daily hand to hand combat, and eventually had him tutored by experienced soldiers in combat tactics. Told he was a gutter rat, and worthless, Dahar followed Krieg as a cruel but present father. With no memory of who or what he was, Dahar obeyed Krieg with a loyal fervor that was obsessive.
During the intervening years, Dahar learned of the greater universe, of the great injustices and conflicts that continued to tear the galaxy asunder. Eventually, he discovered that it was Krieg who had betrayed his family, who in truth were landed gentry on Correllia. He grew enraged at his 'benefactors' lies, and plotted to kill him. Fate intervened and Dahar ended Krieg in a brutal battle that cost him an unsightly scar across his neck and face. Using the chance to escape, Dahar looked for a master to train him in the ways of the force so that he might one day see revenge on a galaxy that robbed him and so many others, and for the power to bend it to his will.
With no luck finding the vaunted sith, Dahar took a job working with a trader as a bodyguard fighting off double crosses, and various dangers from the black market. He kept his own code however killing ruthlessly anyone who stood in his way.
Eventually he was discovered by a jedi master on the run from Sith agents, and Dahar begin training in earnest lying to the master and keeping his true intentions secret. Despite his galactic weariness, and rough and somewhat nihilistic manner, his master was impressed by his natural abilities with the force and effortless bravery. As soon as he was able, he constructed a lightsaber, but before his trials could begin his master discovered his treachery and disappeared suddenly. With no true master, Dahar continued on, seeking out the knowledge of the sith and training for the day he would use the force to reshape the galaxy as he felt it should be.
