The Undercity Cantina was empty and silent, until the pair walked in. Tables and chairs collected dust, and the booths lining the walls of the wide and spacious establishment- a converted warehouse from the looks of it- seemed lonely and dilapidated. In the center, starkly contrasting to the dimly lit space around it, was a well lit bar, fully stocked with expensive liquor. Liquor, to die for.

Draxa Lutani was not a woman who was interested in much other than garnering credits for herself and the prospects of attaining power. She only ever so often indulged in such pleasures of alcohol. However, when she saw that there was but a simple bar filled to the brim and with no bartender governing it? She knew that it would be prime to take the alcohol for her pirate crew. That was right, she had no care for the law or authority of anyone other than her own. Yet, it seemed awfully suspicious. The female was flexible, but yet rigid in form as she wore her K-6 Light armor, prepared for combat at any time, but yet didn’t look so conspicuous as to draw the law immediately. On her back, rested her Vibroblade, around three feet long, the length of a normal katana, and on her right side in a holster rested her 4-C blaster pistol, a common firearm that was approved throughout most of the galaxy.

Something didn’t feel right, it seemed too suspicious for such treasures to be present without any form of protection. Drawing the vibroblade, wielding it with her left hand, she pressed forward, a stoic expression on her face. She had experience with fighting, and she was just waiting for a hero to come along and stop her from taking what she wanted. Leaning over the counter, she took a simple bottle of blue milk, looking it up and down. “Not bad...not bad at all. Well, now I suppose I should call the boys down here to get taking.” The female stood at 5’6”, her hair shoulder length in a braid. Her senses were sharp, listening carefully in this empty bar for any signs of movement and or sound. However, of course the world wasn’t going to give this pirate a break. There just HAD to be a second interloper.

"Well Saarlac's Tentacles. Looks like someone's gonna die today." Her right hand lowered to her blaster pistol, quickly drawing it out, and always ready to fire. Now...who the hell was it that was going to be competing with her over this alcohol? This could sell for a bunch of credits, or at the very least make her and her crew go through a buzzing pleasure for about a week and a half. Waiting, waiting, she was about ready to kill.

Vulcan strutted into the bar, checking his right side for his holstered 4-C Blaster pistol. Then checking his left, for a sheathed standard vibroblade. His armor was light allowing for more mobility than it's bulkier counterparts. As he made his way into the openly layed out establishment he would spot the bar that was highlighted by light much brighter than the rest of the place. A treasure trove of liquor adorned it's shelves and he eyed them with interest.

Assumingly alone, but nevertheless prepare he would un-holster his pistol and step cautiously in the direction of the bar in the center of the cantina. As of now he would be only twenty yards away from it as he kept his head on a swivel for any sign of intrusion. Stopping abruptly as he noticed a woman similarly armed woman grabbing a bottle of blue milk. Examining her as she made a comment to herself she would then take notice of Vulcan.

"Yeah, sure seems that way."
He replied coldly as he pushed a nearby table on it's side creating cover for himself as he ducked behind it. Poking his head out from the top of his cover and aiming the blaster at the woman. Now awaiting her next move before he would calculate his next move, his cover gave him some extra protection from his shoulders down in his current position.

As soon as her opponent drew his blaster and knocked over a table, she quickly did a roll, pushing her left arm forward and knocking over a table in tandem. She actually took the bottle with her. She would have ducked behind the counter, but then there was a chance that precious alcohol was going to get shot. No, she didn’t like the sound of that one bit. So, she ended up poking her head from the side for just a moment to see him with his blaster ready, to get a general idea of where he was. Ducking quickly behind her cover to avoid any possible blaster fire, her right hand lifted above the table, bottle in her other hand, shooting one shot, then paused before firing two more at his general direction. Afterwards, she quickly dashed from her cover, knocking another table over that was closer, closing the distance between them to about ten yards. A battle between blaster fire was slow, but yet a dangerous game all the same.

One might wonder why in the world she kept the bottle with her. Well, assuming he was still within cover, she tossed the bottle straight at his table, causing shards of glass and a splash of flammable liquid all over his general area. She, while still in cover, fired a single shot, attempting to ignite the booze and make it a little bit less comfortable to be behind. Afterwards, she’d simply wait, occasionally looking out for the man, trying to figure the best course of action. The dimly lit bar had a now temporary light, an illumination which should allow both of them to see a bit better. What was next? Her Vibroblade was clenched in her left hand, waiting for a good time to strike if there was one. Mentally she counted how many shots were left in her gun before she’d need to reload. There was 11 shots left before she’d need a new powercell. Now...what was this man going to do now?

Seeing him draw his weapon caused her to react swiftly by rolling and knocking over a nearby table in the same fashion as he had. strangely she had taken the bottle with her. He kept his sights on her, preemptively preparing for her to make a fatal mistake. As she poked her head up he would fire three shots in quick succession at her face. Keeping his aim still on her in case the shots didn't hit their mark.

Both now in cover Vulcan's adversary would blindly fire from behind cover with blaster bolts failing to hit her intended mark instead dotting the nearby tables and chairs. As she began to run from her cover attempting to close the gap, Vulcan would unload another three round burst towards her midsection as he had no time to adjust back to her head when she had left cover.

This is a pretty good first round.

If you suspect PvP is imminent, its important to detail the surroundings as soon as possible- specifically distances between combatants. When you do that, be sure to use the metric system, since that's what weapon ranges are measured in.

Be sure to use very clear directions for each movement. If cardinal directions are known, use those, but if not "his/her right/left" or "his/her opponents right/left" is an important detail that needs to be included. And if you close or increase distance, make sure you describe the specific distance left between opponents.

Be careful not to take too many actions in a post. By the rules you can take as many as you like, HOWEVER the more actions you take the more opportunity your opponent has to interrupt you. Interrupts on actions that your character is committed to are much harder to recover from and defend against. I recommend making one or two moves (attacks or actual spatial movement) per round, and a "contingency move" to prepare you against whatever you think your opponents most likely counter attack is.

Good stuff! Keep it up!

At the very moment that the man had fired upon the woman, she had already poked her head back into cover, three of his shots being wasted. From the sound the blaster gave off, she determined it was the exact same gun she was using. Besides, she did see him pull it out earlier. However, it was the next moment she peeked out of cover that he shot at her again, but this time her midsection. Transitioning into a dive, her body lowered, the blaster shots sailing past her and colliding into the bar counter and one into a table behind her. Immediately she twisted onto the side of her body, shooting twice for the man's midsection once, and then the head for the second shot. Seeing she had closed SOME distance, she was about fifteen yards away now. Rolling while on the ground, she went two feet backwards, shoving the closest table over to guard her body from any other possible incoming shots.

She'd quickly sit up and enter a crouching position, peeking her head carefully, ready to pop back down at any time she saw the fellow. If he was smart, he wouldn't waste any more ammunition. This wasn't going to get anywhere if they were just going to be shooting at each other from across the room, especially from fifteen yards. It was then that she had a bit of a better idea. She was closer to the bar, and therefore, she had the better light. Lowering her head, she looked to the hanging lights in his general area, she shot at the lights above her, making it darker, making it harder to see her. Three shots was what she expended, making that six blaster shots left in her weapon. She better use them well. Of course he'd be able to tell that she was still behind that table, but that was it. In her little corner, it was harder to get a clear target of course...if the lights were indeed shot out. The table was around four feet tall, so it wasn't so hard for her to keep low.

Vulcan's shots missed her head as she ducked behind the table. As his adversary moved out from her cover she would dive to avoid the volley he had sent her way. Still behind his cover, providing all but his exposed arms and head extra coverage. Still aimed in on her as she was finished her dive he would follow through with two more precise shots aimed for her torso and midsection. Ducking after these shots in case he were to miss and to avoid any return fire from behind his cover.

If she didn't take the hits then two bolts fly back in his direction. One striking his cover as it was aimed for his midsection and another would sail over him as he had ducked behind the table cover once more. They were fifeteen meters apart after her dive and his subsequent firing on her. Now he would stay behind cover and wait for his opponent to either take his blaster fire or return their own.

Considering the distance between the two fighters was around...fifteen meters, perhaps a firefight wasn’t the way to go, for when he fired upon her, she was able to react quickly while in her dive. She rolled while on the ground towards him, two feet, the blaster shots hitting her previous location two feet behind her. She quickly recovered, and got under cover by pushing over the table she originally planned on going to, thus, she was a bit closer, but still too far away to do much good. Clenching the bottle tightly in her left arm, it was about time she did another move. This time, she decided that maybe getting out of cover wasn’t a good idea. She had a round table for her shield after all. Having been in a crouch formation, she decided, screw it. This pirate was going to have to make a move, and taking cover was going to do no one justice. It was time to do what she could. Leaping over her table in a fluid hop, she began to dash at him moving, shooting at his table rapidly in order to put him under suppressive fire. With eleven shots in her chamber, she aimed recklessly, pinning him down most likely as she shot. She ran at around six meters per second.

Assuming that she had him pinned, right as she approached his table, she’d kick it with full force with her right leg, attempting to slam it against him, knock him down, and leave him vulnerable, perhaps even knocking his gun out of his hands. The battle was a bit premature, and it was a bit of a bolder move to be doing this, but she was willing to take a risk rather than spend fifteen minutes running and shooting at each other all day. Besides, she was far more advanced when it came to the close range combat department. Dropping her blaster, she took the bottle in the right hand, vibroblade on the left. Seeing her gun was empty, it was quickly lowered into her holster and secured. She was going to kill this guy alright, just because of the fact he was being a pain in the ass. For that, she was going to gut him like a fish.

Vulcan was shocked when she emrged from new cover after avoiding his aimed shots. Now she was running towards him and firing recklessly at his cover. Staying behind it as to not be hit he would time the blaster shots as she came closer, as each shot took less time to reach its target he knew it would be a matter of time before she breached his cover. Quickly holstering his blaster and unsheathing his vibroblade he would wait out the inevitable.

As she reared up to kick the table Vulcan would roll out from the right, and slash downward at her leg extended now kicking the table he was previously taking cover behind. If this strike missed he would follow through to her exposed midsection with a horizontal slash. Jumping back two meters after his attack he would assume a defensive posistion.

This looks pretty good.

@Dandead10. I would make a little bit more convincing with dodges- it seems like those well aimed shots would be harder to avoid than just saying "they missed". Closing the distance was a good choice though. Ranged combat can be drawn out and difficult- the longer range you go the more dawn out it gets. Successful ranged combat involves a lot of maneuvering, suppression, or distractions to get the upper hand. It's a lot more of a chess game than close combat in many cases.

@Vulcan. If this were a real PvP, those aimed shots that missed might be something to talk over with your opponent. A simple "Hey, I don't think those shots would have missed so easily, because..." and give your reasons. Remember that by posting without disputing or reporting a post, it locks in your opponents move and you can't go back to dispute it later. In this case though, Dan's move might work in your favor. Your move is a perfect example of a good interrupt.

Now, when this happens, there's a few things to look at. It seem like Dan committed to a few actions after the kick, which makes defending against Vulcans attack very difficult. You have to be careful not to overextend yourself without a defense prepared. Kicks can be especially dangerous to the kicker. Realistically, Dan, you'd probably lose your leg here. Best case scenario in your next post, you might be able to take Vulcan with you. Why? Because Vulcan took too many extra actions after his attack, which you could interrupt in turn. You'd lose your leg (and still might die), but if you've got any ammo left in that blaster you could shoot from almost point blank, and because Vulcan committed to an additional attack it would be hard to avoid.

Overall for both of you, 1) I recommend being a little more conservative with your actions. Do one or two things per post, instead of three of four, and try to keep a balance between attacks and defensive contingencies, because the more you try to do the more openings you give your opponent for an interrupt. 2) Be just a tad more clear. The more simple and concise you can describe a move, the less room there is for interpretation. Things like left and right should also be in reference to your right/left, or your opponents right/left, so there's no confusion.

When she aimed her kick outward for the table, she succeeded in knocking it away, and in that frame, her enemy performed a roll, and then entered a stand, swinging down upon her leg. However, there was a thing to consider. A Vibroblade was very much that, a blade, and with her K6 light armor, even though it was mobile, it still did provide protection, particularly the shin guard. So, there was a thunk, and then a chipping of the defense as she took a hit, assumably the man swinging down with only one arm wielding the blade. Yes, her leg bled, and while plastoid was punchable through by a vibroblade, it should feasibly be enough so that her leg would not be sliced through and taken off in a single strike like a lightsaber would. Grunting in pain, he would have to lift his blade, and in that moment, she acted. As her leg bled from the now hole in her leg armor, she leaned inward on her injured leg, and whilst he was preparing for his swing to her midsection, she thrusted for the throat.

A thrust was faster than a swing and would be difficult to block with a blade, and seeing he was already in mid swing, there was an improbable chance of dodging. However, assuming he were to be attempting a block, that too would be difficult considering he was aiming for her mid section while her thrust was aimed for his throat. However, in the case that he somehow did block and or evade the attack, she as mentioned before was leaning inward on her leg, and would be prepared to transition into a roll if the need so be. Yet, the chances of evading a thrust at such close distance was unlikely, and unscathed even more so. Had she finished him off?

Lifting his blade from her slightly protected but still damaged leg. With his half successful attempt at delimbing his opponent had not gone as planned. His opponent would lean in on the injured leg, obviously causing great pain from it bearing weight on cut into muscle tissue.

Now thrusting for his throat as he prepared his midsection swing, noticing her action he would duck swiftly hoping to miss the thrust. Meanwhile he would sloppily adjust his swing mid action in an awkward angle for his opponents bicep. Assuming that his ducking maneuver would work, and his subsequent counter though at an awkward and unclean angle would land. He would then step back into a defensive position if this did not end his opponent.

This is another point that would be pretty contentious in a real PvP I think. @Dandead10 has a legit defense with the blade hitting his shin armor, but only because @Vulcan didn't specify what he was aiming for. If the post had read "He swung at his enemies leg, just above the knee", there would have been nothing Dan could have done. That's why it's important to be precise, even if its in as simple and as clear a way as possible. Just be careful that when you use defenses like that that you're not going out of your way to exploit vagueness- if there's any ambiguity about a post where you know one option is probably what your opponent is doing and the other option obviously gives you a strong advantage instead, it's good form to ask clarifying questions before you post.

For Vulcan's post, this is an example of too many actions coming back to haunt you. Because you committed to the second attack and a jump after your ineffective strike, you can't retroactively squeeze a dodge in there. The best you could do is try to roll with the blow or otherwise try to mitigate it, but you'd definitely take the hit- interrupts in between two attacks are the hardest to deal with typically. You could also just commit to that extra attack and try to take Dan with you, like almost happened in reverse after that last round.
