Dani Leone
Reporter for the Galactic Report
Essential information
Daniella "Dani" Leone is a 24-year-old Firrereo woman and a citizen of the ISC. She is 5'6", weighs 120 lbs, and is not force-sensitive.
Though a former customer service representative for an IT company, she now works as a reporter and journalist for the independent news agency the Galactic Report.
Biography
Dani was born on Firrero and grew up in a middle-class home. Her two older brothers, Angelo and Gabriele, were very protective of her, and as a result, she seldom faced trouble at school. Her Ma worked at the high school she attended, which helped her reputation with the teachers, and her Mom worked at a data science company.
Growing up, Dani was a quiet girl who liked to spend a lot of her time either reading, writing, or playing outside with her brothers. She didn't make a lot of friends until she got to high school, where she was finally adopted into a friend group by your typical, friendly and outgoing extrovert. Her grades were good but not outstanding, except for her foreign language classes in which she excelled. Daniella's parents were both polyglots, and they passed on their shared languages to their three children. It was this trilingual upbringing that inspired Dani's love for languages. By the time she graduated high school, she'd picked up two more, and began working on a third.
Tragedy struck the Leone's happy family just months after her nineteenth birthday. The Sith glassed her planet, rendering much of the once vibrant continents uninhabitable. Dani's home was not located near any major cities or historical sites, and this is what saved her from the wrath of the Sith. Not all of her family was so lucky, though. Her brother Angelo had gone off to join the military when he turned eighteen a few years back, and he was killed trying to defend their planet. Her Mom was off on a business trip to Firrerre's capital and was caught in the attack on the city. When help finally came and Dani was able to be rescued from the carnage, she had only her brother, her Ma, and her small group of friends left to grieve with.
After going through the ISCRA screening process, Dani and the remainder of her family were relocated to Thyferra. Her Ma got a job working as a teacher once again, and rather than continue his schooling, Gabriele went right into the workforce as an apprentice mechanic. After being convinced by her Ma, Dani decided to pursue an associate's degree at a local community college while working at an IT company to help pay the bills.
Two years (more or less) later, with an associate degree and a new ISC citizenship under her belt, Dani set out on her own, just wanting to find her way in life whether that be through work, traveling, or something else. She ran a political blog in her free time called the Glance Over, and after one particular, politically-charged post when viral, she garnered the attention of an independent news agency. They reached out to her and offered her a job, provided she take another two years of college and get her bachelor's.
Two years later, Dani finished her bachelor's, quit her job as an IT representative, and began working for the Galactic Report. A year later, she was firmly settled into her job and began writing and reporting for the new agency, working on making new connections and reporting on everything from political happenings to mega-celebrity news.
Skills & hobbies
Multilingual. Dani grew up peaking Firrereo, Basic, and Durese. She studied Twi'leki and Huttese in high school, and can write and speak in both fluently. Though she can't speak it, she can understand spoken and written Vratix from her time on Thyferra. Currently, she is studying Bothese/Botha.
Journalism & communication. Her bachelor's degree was in journalism and communication. Additionally, Dani also ran a now-discontinued blog called the Glance Over.
