The Living Thicket, Anzat
1700 Local Time
A slight mist had gathered around the floor of the Living Thicket, Anzat's most treacherous forest. Within, all sorts of beasts awaited, most of them deadly. Two Exiles had been dispatched to slay a herculean creature that the Anzati tribes had spent decades gossiping about. It was a fearsome monster, a mixture between a massive arachnid and an insect, and it preyed solely on meat. Its carnivorous diet was generally sated by feral Anzati and the other creatures of the forest, but this apex predator was known for also killing anyone that came close to its territory.

The two Exiles, Malthazar Dreadheart and Nasuag, had been tasked with slaying this beast and bringing its head to the villagers, which would mark the success of this trial. The animal was not their only enemy, however, as feral Anzati were known to prowl these forests, Anzati that had become disconnected from society and were ruled by one thing only: hunger.

Mindful of the dangers, the Exiles were now standing at the entrance of the forest, having just been dropped off by their transport, who promised to come back in 3 hours...should they still be alive.

@Foxfire

24 hour posting rule, otherwise any hits become auto-hits. Taking serious hits will result in corresponding damage (i.e. being hit by a blaster shot will hurt/kill), so be on your toes.

Malthazar stepped off the transport and onto the dry grass as soon as the doors opened, not wanting to waste any time. He was wearing his usual outfit, his large trench coat resting on his shoulders, his arms outside of the sleeves. His lightsaber and blaster were both on his belt, and his black armor was equipped. He was not sure what animals they would run into, but it was better to be safe than sorry, especially when wandering knee-deep into the unknown as they were right now.

In front of them, the entrance to the forest beckoned, trees twisting against each other eerily. Unnaturally, the forest was almost completely silent, something not normal for the great outdoors. There were normally birds chirping or animals rustling about, but the Living Thicket was mute, as though it was devoid of any life. The Exile knew better though.

Stepping forward, Malthazar took the hilt of his lightsaber, keeping it switched off, but gripping it just in case something sprung out as they walked through the forest. "Shall we?" he asked the Exile next to him.

Nasuag had been hunched over and trying to rest in such a confined space that when they were planet side he was hungry for space and fresh air. Easing himself down the ramp he kept his head low from smashing it into the bulk head and the underside of the ship. Coming up beside the partner that was chosen for this mission, Nasuag stretched his muscles and his body to his full height of 7 foot.

Sniffing the jungle air Nasuag caught many different scents. Adjusting some make shift armor plating for himself he looked down to Malthazar.

Yes let us get on this hunt. Hopefully the prey will not go quietly.

Taking out again a data sheet of the mission he looked over the information. Reading the description and then looking at he jungle ahead of them Nasuag stepped away a bit from the other exile to get his bearings. Sniffing the air to get location of the ship in his head via the scents around the ship. Gently Nasuag probed the nearby jungle to feel out what life was around them. Moving back to Malthazar he saw that he had his saber out and ready.

Which direction would you like to search out first?

She Who Hungers could smell them. Delicious meat. Two individuals crept nearby, dark harbingers invading the moor of her children. She Who Hungers was pleased. They Who Hunger would feast tonight with the delicious meat she would bring. The delicious meat crept too close to the webbed trap. Carelessness led to the first delicious meat becoming ensnared. Before the other delicious meat could react, She Who Hungers leapt upon the other man and twisted the fleshy nape off her prey.

The delicious meat were dead. Delicious, but repetitive. The feral Anzati were always invading her territory, threatening They Who Hunger. She Who Hungers would protect her children. A feast of delicious meat was a nice byproduct. But exotic meat would be welcomed to the beast. A sound piqued the creature's attention. A roar in the sky, another of the wingless avians, who honk atrociously. It sounded close, but not enough to entice her nostrils with the wingless avian's droppings' scents. However, soon she would sense them.

Soon she would taste them.
