Now THIS was a mission that was right up Omnis' alley. It was smart of Czerka to have a communications array hidden away like this, though now that it had been found out it had to be destroyed. Luckily, The Magnum was just the starfighter needed to take out such an installation, and he wasn't going to be coming in alone. However, he DID have a feeling that it wouldn't be as simple as just waltzing in and blowing the place to the darkest crack of the Emperor's ass, there would probably be some defenders around to care for the array. If they were lucky, there wouldn't be more than a token force, as this place probably was never expected to be found by enemies in the first place.

Jumping into the system, Omnis flew to the staging coordinates to wait for his companion. He checked through his systems, making sure that his proton bombs were ready and his laser cannons were prepared. Shields were up, Identify Friend Foe signal was working properly, and engines were running just fine. Some may have thought all the checks were the work of an anxious mind, though for Omnis it was important to be sure everything was in place before an operation. Anything less could cause a comrade or an innocent to be hurt, or killed, and that was unacceptable to him. His checks complete, he waited for his companion to arrive. Then it would be time to rid this moon of Czerka's tainted presence.

It was an exciting time to be part of the Alliance. New squadron, new base, new starfighter. Ner’Giza’s Malla-class starfighter, Blue Angel, was performing brilliantly. She hardly knew what to do with herself. For starters the speed capped out at 20 MGLT more than The Tempest Hunter and the way that it handled? Well just suffice it to say she had toyed around buzzing the base with some low elevation fly by’s that would have raised the hairs on her arms if she had some. She couldn’t have been more pleased, the thing practically flew itself.

Nine-nine, however, was more disgruntled than ever. The fighter didn’t come with a droid socket and he had flatly refused to upload his navigation database to the ‘Blue Harlot’ claiming no knowledge of such files. If life was ever going to be bearable again she would have to see about modifying a socket to the starfighter. Fortunately until such a time, the charts already programmed were more than sufficient for her current needs. Punching in the coordinates, she headed out to the staging area to rendezvous with her partner for this mission. Tech wasn’t the only new thing; so many new faces. It was getting rather hard to keep up with them all.

Fortunately the starfighters were equipped to recognize each other and as she drew into range a ship was detected and readily identified as one of the squadron. Hitting the comm she greeted one Omnis Waszylla, ”Star 10, this is Star 7. You ready to head out?”. Although this would be their first time working together she was not worried about his skill. She had yet to work with anyone who was not an asset to the Alliance. That was one thing you could say for them, they might be a rag taggle bunch from all over the Galaxy, but they got things done.

"Star 7, this is Star 10. Weapons are primed and shields are up. Let's take out this Comm Array and get some beers back at base." He gave his companion a bright smile, even though she couldn't see it. It was still something he was going to do, as it was just a habit at this point, even if the intended recipient never knew about it. His console started beeping in warning as his radar turned up for new signals, their IFF reading them as Czerka protection in the form of generic starfighters. Of course there would be protection, yet he had expected something...more. Oh well, it was time to show this heinous company the Hammer of Justice! "Looks like we have four bogeys on our way. I'll handle the left two, you can get the right. If you get overwhelmed try to get behind my bomber, the shields should help you for a bit. Okay, Star Ten, engaging the enemy!"

The Magnum moved well, which was probably because he'd been practicing with it whenever he could. As for the Czerka fighters, they perhaps expected a craft like his to be like flying a bathtub through space. A couple expert shots from Omnis' lasers later, one of the ships was just so much debris in space from the explosion. As the other ship jerked to the side to dodge the explosion he caught Omnis' second attack literally right in the face, that attack being a fired Proton Torpedo. Omnis watched the ship and pilot literally phase out of solid existence and turn into so much particles. He kept moving towards the Communications Array, now that his path was clear, and hoped to hear soon that Star Seven had succeeded in her own attacks. Things were going well, so far.

”Sure thing, Star 10. Last one back buys first round!”, she quipped in reply. It was hard not to be in such high spirits the way things were panning out these days. And today she wouldn’t have to worry about equipment failures. Gazing at the scanners she picked out a few location she would hide along their route were she charged with watching over the communications array.

Her systems alerted her to the four fighters even as Omnis laid out his plan. ”Sounds good. Star Seven, engaging the enemy.” Even as she veered off to do just that, the inane thought ran through her head how he sounded quite skilled, like a real pilot. The military sound of it all, well whenever she tried to mimic ‘appropriate radio protocols’ as sketched out in the numerous files Twobee had provided Ner’Giza was certain she just came off sounding like an idiot. Basically she hated using the comm.

With Omnis having a bit of a lead, she veered off drawing the fighters along in pursuit. Flying with an overall direction toward the array, the three fighters danced through the air weaving around vying for the advantage. Ner’Giza found it first, and fired off two bursts from her lazer canons. The Czerka pilots were good, the first one narrowly escaping a hit to his underbelly as he spun away out of range.

The second one was not quite as quick, her blast taking out one of his engine sent him crashing to the ground in flames. However the first craft had finished his circling arc blasting the area forcing her to take cover to the rear of Omnis and the safety of his shields. ”I missed one Omnis!”, she said into the comm, sheer frustration making her drop the military protocol.

Omnis wasn't upset at Ner, these things happened. It had been luck that his opponents hadn't been as skilled, so he wouldn't hold it against her. He had learned how to fly during his time as an actor, his unorthodox moves catching trained pilots off guard. That was exactly what happened when he cut his drive entirely, surfing on the solar winds as the fight sped past him during it's first volleys. The second he was behind the fighter he peeled forward with full throttle. He fired a second proton torpedo right up the guy's ass, flying through the explosion as it bounced harmlessly off his shields. "Don't worry, I got them. Why don't you take the first run at the Comms Array? We'll see who destroys the most of it."

”Roger that, Star 10”, she said cringing inside as she went back on protocol. Grateful that Omnis had been able to pull up her slack, she angled back out along the cut heading back on course to the array. Although she had done her system’s check, she glanced to the display verifying once more her missiles were indeed in the magazine. Part nerves and 3 parts paranoia, she fully expected one day for 99 to sabotage the Blue Angel from sheer spite from being left at base.

Reassured that his droid-rage hadn’t escalated into the realm of homicide, she set up her run and shot ahead of her partner. In the icy terrain it was a bit hard to pick up visually until the horizon behind the structure dropped enough to skyline her target. Flicking to her visual readout, she locked onto the base of the structure hoping to set off its power generator, she launched the missile with a press of her thumb upon the switch.

She just knew it would hit and once the warhead was speeding on its way, she pulled round toward the left to keep clear of the resultant explosion. Hitting true, the flamed rolled upward into the sky illuminating the night and casting it glow upon the icy slopes. Scanning for and other fighters that might be drawn to the sounds of the explosion. Amazingly enough the area was very clear. Could it be that simple?

Her breath came out in a rush with a bit of a laugh, like she was almost afraid to bring bad luck down on them for daring to think this had been a piece of cake. ”Look at it go!”, she spoke over the comm unable to quell her excitement. ”I’m not picking up any Czerka fighters. How about you?”

"I'm not either. Let me make a final bombing run to make sure it's fully out of commission, then we can get out of here." Omnis grinned as he went in for the bombing run, though as he got close some kind of signal from the malfunctioning station that threw his systems awry. He missed his bombing run, though just barely, and the detonations seemed to summon the rest of Czerka's defense forces. Four more fighters shot out to attack the two, Omnis cursing under his breath at the sudden reinforcements. "Damn, that one's my bad. Let's mop these guys up, I think the station is well enough down."

That seemed like a good idea to her for it would be a complete waste of time to come this far and leave the job half done. ”Copy that Star 10. Light it up!”, she responded over the comm. Angling her craft around, her eye alternating between the sensor readings and the sky before her, she drew back from the array to give him plenty of room and guard back.

She could see the damage done by the previous strike and though Omnis’ planned strike didn’t pan out as he’d intended, she knew the array would be out of commission. The addition damage to the grounds surrounding the tower would only make returning the communications station to functionality that much more of an impossibility. Time was on their side for soon enough the other teams would complete their missions and the stranglehold the Czerka had upon Endor would be ended. Frakken Slavers anyway. It was high time they learned there was a new force in the Galaxy that gave a shit. It was never gonna be business as usual again.

One world at a time…

Her small bout of Rebel zeal was interrupted by the blips on the screen of the four fighters converging upon their location. Even as Omnis’ called to her over the comm, she was cutting through the air attempting lineup her target. The Blue Angel handled like a dream as she took out after the nearest craft in the approaching Czerka squad.

Coming in from the side as she was, Ner’Giza figured she could fire off shot at two of the ships on her current trajectory. Once the targeting systems locked in, she pressed the trigger on her guns and fired into the formation. Once the laser blasts were away she veered off her run to circle back upon her former position to the flank.

Both craft were blown to smithereens. That is when she saw on the sensor readout that one of the other two fighters was pulling away. ”Woo. Look at him run Omnis!", she called into the comm. It was tempting to rush off after him but she was staying in support while Star Ten made his attacks. There would be time to track that deserter once this last fighter was downed.

The communication array was down and there was already a plan in place for any Czerka survivors to be dealt with. Their objective was done, even if Omnis' pride had taken a hit. He didn't take it seriously, of course, as such things got people killed. Instead he sent the hyperspace coordinates to Ner so that they could return and report that they had successfully completed their mission. With every victory the Galactic Alliance grew closer to victory, to freedom for the Galaxy. Right at the moment, though, he just really wanted a beer. Maybe two. Maybe Mig would like to come along for some shenanigans.
