~There is always a darkness in the heart of every empire. It is from this darkness that the corruption grows that ultimately brings that nation down in the end. Try as they will the proponents of that nation will never find it, will never see it until it is far too late. Even on Coruscant, the World-City there is that darkness. N'veris now walks amidst it listening to the whispers of a thousand minds on the edge of darkness, about to take that first true step on the path from which there is no escape. She listens to their rationalizations, the lies they tell themselves as to why it must be done. It all brings a smile to her lips, each lie another step in the change that is about to grip them. Today it is one thing, a little thing, tomorrow it is another just a bit bigger, no harm to anyone, no one will know... Each inch, each lie, each heartbeat a clarion horn heralding the demise of yet another empire. It was all a delicious ambrosa to her. The frailty of mortal men, so strong when opposed yet flailing fools who can never master their own innate nature.~

*She walked along the lower sections of the city, the click of her heels on the metal just one more note in the cacaphony of the heartbeat of the City. Another face, another person unnoticed in this mire of second-hand life in the capital of the 'great republic.'*

In the shadows of this world, there are many beings. Most of these beings are low in the food chain, they all go about their lives without knowing of the workings of the universe. But there is one being of the shadows that was born of the universe. This one is named Reincarnation. As N'Veris passes a dark alleyway the shadows within start to bend and contort. From these shadows steps the tall form of Reincarnation, her wings folded behind her. As she steps out of the shadows her footfalls make no sound, if one had looked at her feet, they would notice the half inch gap between the soles of her shoes and the ground.

We certainly remember this one.

She said softly, her voice ringing with tones of both Cynn and Vynn. She held her staff in her right hand, at her side.

*She pauses, wreathed in the shadow cast by a stanchion holding up an upper walkway. Her hand caresses the bare shoulder of a young woman dressed scandalously. Though she did not remove her glove her hand is bare now as it rests on the woman's shoulder. There amidst the chaotic flow of people an eddy of stillness. What words are exchanged are lost in the noise but the effect on the young woman was evident enough to an observer. She shuddered as if in great physical and emotional pain, she turned to pull away from N'veris and the dark clad woman let her go, a smile on her lips once more. The young woman took two steps as if nothing had taken place. She never made the third. The stanchion's angled support gave way and struck her in the head, killing her even before she fell to the ground. Chaos reigned as N'veris walked on*

Reincarnation floated over to the now corpse and looked down. She placed the head of her staff on the woman's head and slowly the wound was healed. It had only been a few seconds since her death and Reincarnation could see her life force floating around her body. Just as the wound on her head healed, Reincarnation sent a jolt of power into the body. The heart started and eventually she came round, her life force having returned to her. Reincarnation fluttered her wings and a slight mist of glittering dust coated the area and the now living girl.

You shall forget Us.

She said touching the woman's forehead with her staff. A vacant look came over the woman's face as she walked away. Reincarnation walked on, her feet still not touching the ground as she walked. She was now within reach of N'Veris. She taped her on the shoulder lightly with her staff.

*She smiled, the tap bringing about a reaction perhaps unexpected, silence. The entire walk way suddenly goes silent. Whether it is a complex illusion or reality is unknown but the busy walkway is now devoid of people save N'veris and Rei. The dark clad woman turns around looking up at the winged one.*

"Naughty of you to interfere in the great scheme of things... Death was that woman's destiny today and now you've altered the pattern..."

Reincaration lowered her staff. She showed no reaction to the effect that N'Veris displayed on the environment. She turned her head slightly and looked down at her, her one visable eye shining blue.

That woman had time remaining. We mearly repaired an annomally caused by interference on your part.

Reincarnation spread her wings and they fluttered. The time/space fold that N'Veris had created foled in on itself and the people returned, though they did not seem to be able to see or go near either of them.

You once offered Us your companionship. Would you have done the same if We had been there?

*The smile stays on her lips as she exerts more effort forcing the people and their sound to vanish once more.*

"Most certainly. The more the merrier I always say."

*Her eyes glimmer as she continues to look up to the much taller woman. The desire to do something was readily apparent in her posture but as to what that 'something' was the possibilities were virtually endless.*

A slight breeze shifted the bandana over Reincarnation's face just enough for N'Veris to be able to see the other eye, it was flaming red and gleaming as dark as the blue eye shined. She finally lowered to the ground, her feet coming into contact with the metal walkway. There was a moment as all movement stopped, for a nano second there was absolute calm, then absolute chaos, then all became neutral.

You realise who We are.

This was indeed a statement and not a question. Reincarnation knew this woman and how she worked.

*she chuckles softly as she brushes stands of silken tresses from her face.*

"As you know what I am."

*She exhailed a seemingly long-held breath, the echoing refrain of a thousand hissing snakes envelops them both if only for a instant.*

"This culture is unprepared to accept either of us for what we truly are... Were that to be discovered we both would be trailed by Jedi and while I do desire their measure I have no need for their attention as of yet."

Reincarnation made no move, she did not fidget, there was no need for it, her hair stayed where it was willed and her clothes always fit without need for adjustment. Her wings however, did flutter slightly. Though she did not require emotion, she did find many things curious.

We know of the Jedi. We were one once, We still are in many ways. They will not understand, this is correct. However We can not allow you to tip the balance. There are things We must and must not do. Interfering with the way of this galaxy is against the Rules, We are sure you know this.

"I care as little for balance as I do for the spark these trogledytes call life. I would see the suns snuffed out and the planets rendered into rubble. I would see the lot of them placed in duress to work out the rest of their miserable existance in chains as the cattle they are. Metaphorically speakin of course."

*The smile she offers never wavers*

You speak as though you are a higher being. We know what you are and what you are capable of N'Veris. You do not belong here. We suggest you return to your own worlds.

Reincarnation stood in front of N'Veris. Her staff-head began to glow and her wing began to resonate. The world around them stopped, everything was there, but no motion existed. Folding time and space was a very complicated technique, the Jedi were able to master a very basic form of it with their ability to move faster than most. It involved wraping time around oneself.

Your timefolds are amaturist at best. You have not mastered the ability, however We can show you how. Should you come around to Our way of thinking, We may allow you to ascend to the next plane.

Reincarnation dissappeared, not even a blink of an eye could measure how quickly it happened. But one instant, she was there. The next instant, se was gone and time had returned.

*She sighed after the exchange then chuckled softly shaking her head*

"Why in the world would I want to ascend? It's dreadfully boring up there and I prefer the darkness."

*She comments to herself, as she turns and walks with the flow of the pedisterians. She found the warping of time interesting but she knew that would draw the attention of the Jedi as the ripples of it reached them. The winged one might be so blatent but N'veris was not. The illusion of a wrinkle was enough for her.*

*A turbolift door opened and Joseph Gray stepped through into the darkness part of Coruscant. Gang members and thieves waiting to jump anybody foolish to enter this part of the city, sunk back into the shadows upon seeing who had stepped out of the lift. He always did this, once a week maybe two he would gather food and medicine and come down to help the poor, the sink, the hungary. It was as he told the Masters, "If we do not help those who live under us, how can help those across the galaxy?" and so he walked on pasting out food and credits. Giving medicine to the sick, doing what a Jedi always should do.*
