I'm about to declare a potentially unpopular choice. My three characters are going to be as follows.
  1. My first character is a member of a faction/race Tri and I have been working on by the name of Rama Blunte Dar'Halmjfr (in the race language, lit. translation: Rama the Flower of the tribe Halmjfr). He's going to basically be the overall commander of the special operations contingent of the faction's fleet. More or less a man who would straight up punch a nobleman if it got him a demotion and an excuse to be out in the field more often. And on top of that he's one of the Fourteenth Heirs to the throne of his race (actually very close . . . though really only in a way that makes sense to members of the race).
  2. The second is a WIP, no name and nothing too set in stone because its still waiting on Jiang's feedback, who would be a member of the faction he's writing up.
  3. And the third, and likely least popular of all. I've been interested in making a spy. As I recall reading, there was talk that espionage was going to be worked on to make it more playable and enjoyable for people with spies, a bit more like proper espionage, and try to keep it from being OP or nerfed to the level of pointlessness. So I was thinking of maybe making a spy for the Republic who is currently in Border Alliance space trying to gather information on all the rumors and talk of Sith and such. Something like that.

@Slamdingo for your spy I don't see what the republic would need to actually have a spy there, considering they know the Sith are still out there they simply just don't want to believe it.

Ah but if you remember reading - at least as I recall - the Border Alliance is the sub-faction truly aware of the dangers and details of the situation. The Senate is . . . rather less informed.

And besides, "knowing they're out there" =/ "knowing what they're doing out there". And there are things somebody in disguise and under a name can learn, even in friendly/allied territory, that a less inconspicuous investigator would have greater trouble finding.

Espionage can have many different forms and intelligence is key in every conflict, so I think the Republic would gladly welcome a spy.

EDIT: The more you know, the better, right?

@Slamdingo well learning about what the enemy is doing is more realistic than discovering the enemy as the border alliance already knows an they can speak directly to the senate if they wanted to via one of their systems senators. Just wanted you to know that the senate if aware, either they believe it or not is a different matter entirely.

I think that's what he meant ;-)

Also, @Slamdingo I'll be glad to join in on the spying fun if you'll have me.

A bunch of people up top refusing to believe hasn't stopped the real work in the past. Just ask veterans of French military intelligence about the build-up of German forces prior to the late 1930s and how they still worked tirelessly to try and combat Nazi influences in spite of the Allies just trying to act like giving them everything they wanted would solve the problem. Personally I think it will be an interesting test of my writing skill and make for some excellent storytelling to play the part of an intelligence agent who is all but having to scream up the chain of command to get them to realize there is a very real and very actionable threat that they are ignoring.

I think that's what he meant ;-)

I've never said no to a partner before. Tell me, how do you feel about . . . shenanigans?

I figured this was the best place to post this, since I don't want to make a whole new thread just for one image at this point, but here's a neat little weapon I've made up for the next timeline: the Versistaff, a collapsible sword/staff/pike that has the arguably unfortunate quality of looking like a lightsaber when collapsed. A neat and versatile item to own, for those who aren't afraid of being made a target for carrying what appears to be a Jedi weapon on their person.

Sorry, but as the new tech Admin, I simply can not allow this.

It's just way to cool, and I didn't come up with it myself so, the answer is no.
