[P-9] Space outside Kashyyyk
1320 hours
{Open to opposition, but please allow @vamp to post before jumping in}

latest

The vast openness of space was always somehow comforting to Rayne, the isolation, cold, and emptiness of the expanse. Rayne breathed in deeply, the cool recycled air filling her lungs as she sat in the command chair of her Nexus II light freighter, her crew filling the available seats.

Ahh.. Rayne said dramatically realizing how long it had been, where are these guys!? She demanded, referring to the freighter they were preparing to hijack. She had brought backup along, and they would likely be sitting nearby in their own ship.

Still though, there were plenty of things for Rayne to do while she waited in the darkness of space. But there she sat, scanning constantly for the possible signatures of enemy contacts or other anomalies as it navigated the tunnels of space dust and other matter in the cloud that would hide her ship's signature from instruments and give the little ambush yet another advantage when the combat started.

Are our weapons online? Rayne asked her gunner for about the fifth time in the last twenty minutes, receiving a simple yes ma'am in return. She was just getting antsy waiting for this dam freighter full of spice to pop out of the atmosphere so she could take its cargo.

She decided to reach out to her back up for the day, You still out there? She asked again, she wanted to be sure this whole thing went as smoothly and quickly as possible.

Endless space stretched outside the window in front of Drace. In his lap lay a dormant dire badger, the Mandalorian's right hand affectionately petting the creature's head while it slept. Perhaps flying with a badger in his lap and his hands off the control was unsafe, but who's to say? With his left, he was holding a datapad, looking over the new ship Rayne wanted to acquire. It was impressive, sure, but its entry made Drace a bit apprehensive. "Although it tends more towards running than fighting," was his least favorite line of it. Why would a warrior even read past this point?

Then again, that was her business. He just wanted to lend a hand to an acquaintance (hopefully soon to be friend) in need, and keep his beskar'gam from getting dusty. What she did with the money she earned, and the things she bought, was up to her. Mandalorians were a blunt people; Drace would surely ask her about her decision at some point, if only out of curiosity.

Rubbing behind the badger's ears, he replied to her, eyes still looking at the screen of his datapad. "As I was 15 minutes ago," he said, his voice low to avoid waking Dinii. Rayne would hear him just fine, if her comms volume was high enough.

He looked up from his pad, surveying the blackness before him for any sign of...anything. Far off in the distance, a small dot came into view. Putting his datapad aside and taking his hand off Dinii's head, he took the controls and steered his MM9 Ficus into position at Rayne's side. "Looks like we have our target."

@Drace Solus had been right, a pip appeared on her radar, Perfect!! Rayne almost jumped from her seat. Go go go, Kill it, shoot! Fire! Whatever! Just attack!! Rayne called to her crew, finally her plan was kicking into action. Her ship leapt to life all at once, it's engines, and lasers all kicking on at the same time nearly, her dorsal mounted dual lasers letting loose a fully volley, filling the emptiness between her freighter and the enemy 35 - series freighter. Rayne's plan was to overload the civililian grade deflector screen generators with a near constant stream of laser fire, hoping @Drace Solus could finish off the ships engines once Rayne popped the shielding.

What Rayne hadn't counted on, and in hind sight would later kick herself for jumping the gun so fast without considering, was the quick second blip that appeared on her radar as her lasers were streaming across open space.

A bit trigger happy, but Drace couldn't blame her for getting bored. Then again, she'd have to be careful with that kind of behavior in the future. Not only was it not a good look, but it rarely provided good results. She would see proof of that now.

She fired way too early, not even giving the ship time to turn all systems online. That, and the distance, caused her volley of shots to fly past the enemy ship, only one or two of the bolts actually making contact, and being stopped short by the ship's shield. Drace powered his engines on, his ship barreling forward with a burst of speed. The badger on his lap stirred, but kept snoring.

As soon as he was within range, he let loose a volley from the distance Rayne should have. Every single one of the bolts hit, the ship not even getting the chance to run before its ship was demolished by the starfighter's fire. Drace flew forward, even closer, and sent a missile aimed toward the ship's back. It hit, blowing a hole into its engine room, stopping the freighter from moving.

"Clear to board," he said into the comms.

Rayne's volley had missed, but luckily her back up's had landed right where it needed to, Rayne immediately switched gears and started laying down fire toward the second ship, it was considerably smaller, an escort, specifically an FP Pulsar, Raynes volley flowed through space directly toward the thing.

Not only did Rayne hit the thing, but nearly every bolt fired found it's mark, the small unshielded star fighter exploded, demolished to pieces.

Dice for attack.

Rayne continued her forward trajectory, pulling her own ship alongside the disabled freighter, Prepare to board! Rayner yelled to her men as she abandoned the command chair and made quickly for the docking tube, checking her gear along the way, it was unlikely the freighter had much resistance on board, and Rayne figured her Beviin Light Repeater would more than handle the situation, and if not of course she carried along the rest of her gear, and was itching to use it.

The long wait had made Rayne impatient, and it might have shown a bit, but she was cool, and calm now, preparing to board the vessel. Space combat wasn't really her thing, but this, ground and small arms was very much her favored element.

Her comm link came to life as her crew began a count down till boarding was ready..

Five.. Rayne stood beside the wall of the boarding tube, her repeater raised and ready.

Four... three...

Two.. Rayne took a deep breath.

One..

Did this starfighter even have a docking tube? How the hell was he supposed to join the battle? This is why Drace hated piloting.

Not a problem. If no door could be found, he would simply make one. It wouldn't be hard, but it also wouldn't be pretty. Nudging his badger awake, he motioned for Dinii to get off his lap. The animal scurried off into the cargo comparment, where it would probably be safer for what was to come.

Drace unleashed every single available bolt possible into the hull of the ship. He fired and fired until his gun began overheating, and then, while the durasteel was still melting, put the thrusters to max speed and whispered a prayer to the god of destruction. Drace's starfighter flew directly into the freighter's weakened wall, busting in and forming a hole big enough for him to exit directly into the cargo hold, avoiding the vacuum of space.

Soon as he was in, he brought his badger along. Dinii should have some fun too. With an excited screech, the dire badger leaped out of the compartment and trailed Drace as he exited the hold, rifle already in hand. A pirate came to greet him, unsure of the loud explosion that had rocked the ship. Dinii emitted an ear-piercing growl and leaped on to the man's chest, digging her teeth into his neck and tearing the muscle in it down to bone. Shouts could be heard from down the corridor—they were on to him. That should give Rayne some time to enter without having all the fire concentrated on her.

Drace ducked behind the corner, back into the cargo hold, and waited.

OOC: No longer using dice per the new PvP rules. Will self DM until the 72 hour time limit has passed.

The docking tube had only just been attached when suddenly it rumbled, a result of the disabled ship being rocked violently, What the Fhtagn is going on over there!? Rayne called into her comm, as the docking door opened up revealing the inside of the enemy cargo hold. The front end of @Drace Solus's ship was jutting into a wall of the hold. What the?.. Rayne thought, her thoughts interrupted immediately by the sound of blaster fire, and a bolt barreling past her into the docking tube.

Rayne ducked behind her cover, raised her repeater, and peeked out just long enough to offer a volley of suppressive fire until she identified a target and placed two bolts into it, one in the upper chest, and one in the neck. It almost did a full back flip as it twirled in the air, hitting the ground with a thud. The enemy was far was disabled, a surprising amount of armed personnel were on board, but Rayne was ready for them, and it looked like Drace was as well.

Moving into the cargo hold, Rayne loosed two more shots at a new target, a small grouping placed the first one in his right shoulder and the second through the right side of his neck, a nasty gouge now missing out of it.

"Modern problems require modern solutions," he replied simply. "The god of destruction welcomes such solutions."

And with that, Wes left cover, Rayne having taken out all the defenders on this side of the ship. The only area left to clear was the cockpit and the troop quarters, though there couldn't possibly be that many soldiers hiding in that cramped space. Even if there were, he had a solution to that problem right on his belt. Three of them, actually. They were round, and shiny, and made people break up into smaller pieces when you threw them.

He motioned forward, and the badger was the first to take the lead, even before Rayne. The halls were eerily empty, but that was to be expected when they had killed the majority of the ship's occupants. Kriff, how many could there even be left? 4? Maybe 5? And that was including the pilot and co-pilot. The mission was as good as done.

They reached the door to the troop quarters, and he nudged Dinii out of the way softly with the tip of his boot. The badger skidded down the hallway, its paws sliding on the durasteel as if it was ice. She seemed to enjoy herself though, and it gave Drace time to grab a grenade off his belt and cook it. Only a second before it was meant to blow, he opened to the door to the quarters just a crack and chucked it inside, closing the door.

The explosion that followed rocked the ship, not that it was the first time. The freighter was in the worst condition Drace had ever seen a ship be in, and had been put through enough abuse to ensure it was not only completely non-operational, but pretty much scrap metal.

He opened the door to find 3 corpses. Calling them that was a compliment; limbs and other body parts were scattered throughout the room. The Mandalorian closed the door gently and nodded to Rayne.

"Only thing left is the cockpit."

Rayne smiled when the man chucked a live gernade into the room and they held the door closed together. Afterwards they opened the door and Rayne laughed at the bodies, Like when you leave a nerf steak in the oven too long! As she pointed at the bodies. The two perused the room for a moment. Nothing much was left and they made their way to the cockpit door.

Raising her repeater, Rayne nodded at her partner and put her foot through the door. The door swung open violently, Rayne identified a target and put two bolts in it, one in the midsection, one in the head. It fell limply to the ground, and Rayne pointed the barrel at the only other being in the room, a human, clearly just a pilot. He looked weak, Rayne sighed, this wasn't a challenge, it was more like shooting fish in a barrel. Finally, Rayne squeezed the trigger, a violent bolt loosing from her repeater and slamming into the mans chest. The man probably didn't need to die, but she couldn't risk leaving a witness.

Rayne lit up her comm to notify her crew to start the process of transferring the cargo from this ship to her own and then looked at @Drace Solus So... I'm guessing you'll need a ride? She said, referring to the unique parking job the man had done with his star fighter.

Well, that was that. They had laid waste to the ship in one quick attack, decimating any lousy defense the pirates could have put up. Wes was satisfied, as was Dinii, who kept running around, yapping excitedly.

"Yeah," he said. "A ride wouldn't hurt."

FIN.

Perfect! Let's get outta here.. Rayne said, as she made her way back to her ship, pausing only for a moment to overlook the work her crew was doing. After about fifteen minutes of being back on her own ship, they had transferred the cargo, and detached.

Backing the ship up a bit Rayne activated the lasers, blasting the daylights out of the now dead ship. Alright, let's unload this cargo somewhere.. she said as they prepared a jump.
