So last year laptop unit sales exceeded PC sales as a whole. I personally love desktop's more than laptops, so I can't understand how this would happen. Which do you guys like more?

Got to go with desktop. It definitely outperforms laptops, its just that laptops provide mobility.

For me, it's by far a laptop. That's the case as you get older and start needing the use of a computer outside of just your house.

If you're just using it for the internet and work, go with a laptop. You can take that shit anywhere. But if you're into playing games and the like, obviously go with the desktop.

I think the desktop is more reliable, though the laptop certainly has big advantages.

I like my laptop more than my desktop. I can take it to my friends' houses and we can play MMOs in the same room or I can take it with me to do work on stories I work on and such. Granted, you have much better graphics on a desktop, it is nice to be able to sit where you wish in your house and be on the computer instead of sitting behind a desk, like I do at work for eight hours a day. :P

Yeah, I don't think there is any real answer. Both have advantages and disadvantages, and it really depends on what your situation is whether to go with one or the other.

Laptops. I do not play games much (only Diablo and Warcraft), and I use only the internet really. So laptop.

Laptop is easily a superior businessman tool. One must understand that the PC can be more powerful for the price, that is the appeal of it. The Laptop is what people want. It's compact and portable.

I predict that in the next 10 years the compact PC will overtake the Desktop. Of course I expect the Desktop to also become more portable, not in the way of a laptop, but becoming a comfortable size to move.

Also the amount of really shitty laptops was massive. It boggles my mind how people with the money to don't get a decent PC or laptop.

Really? You think that in ten years we'll still have laptops and desktops? In ten years I see them becoming the same thing. There will be another evolution in design and the desktop will become portable and really no longer exist. The name laptop will probably also begin to fade out. They'll just be computers. No distinction.

Yeah, sort of. I'm picturing something kind of like the Kindle. It'll probably have a good sized screen and a complete touch screen interface. Computer gaming will either move to only consoles or change and become separate from the regular computing scene, like the OnLive stuff.

You make a wonderful point. I don't know what will happen. But I think I wasn't clear. I think IN the next then years, not ten years from now. Of course that's all quite vague and ten years is a bit far of a prediction. Also I think the cell will phase out. We can call each other for cheaper if we have internet access.

Screw it. I don't know whats gonna happen. We're all ****ed anyway.

I think the opposite. Gaming consoles will disappear and become another part of the computer experience.

Normally I would just be able to tell you what happens in the future, as I view the past, present, and future simultaneously, but something is keeping me from fully viewing the future. Tachyons, no doubt. Either the world has devolved into nuclear war, or Veidt is up to no good again.
