Well...lifting one isn't so hard, I can lift one, but the force of the gun firing is so powerful it needs a bipod or tripod to be accurate (well...in some cases the army has been known to balance the gun on a fellow soldier's back too...) and take into consideration the cant. Now if the MC in Halo can't control the cant of an SMG more than 3 rounds, with a machine gun I doubt anyone could accurately use one. Like I said...even the Incredible Hulk would struggle.

So basically, unless you've got an MG emplacement fixed up (which you won't in a duel), no MGs. SMGs or assault rifles, but no MGs.

Actually, he can (in halo 3). To be perfectly honest, the man can walk around carrying a machine gun that's only usable for any other mortal as a static emplacement or vehicle mounted weapon. He can easily handle the kickback from a teeny little smg.

Honestly, there's never been this much intervention or interference before in the rp. I honestly don't see why there needs to be now.

If someone is being ridiculous, point it out to them. If they don't have a reason, then ask them to change it. If they don't then talk to an admin about the godmodding.

Problem solved.

This insane pre-restriction is, frankly, insane.

This insane pre-restriction is, frankly, insane.

1) In Halo 2 the cant on an SMG is bloody annoying. And in Halo3...well that was added by breaching the realms of realism to add more to a game that could have little added to it.
2)There hasn't been, this has really stemmed from Niner claiming he could have his own personal MG, and I'm telling him "no" and why he can't. Like I said, there are no restrictions on weapons, armour, powers or anything as long as you keep feesible.
3) If someone is Gmodding in this tournament, I'll give them a warning and tell them to edit it. If they consistently do it, they'll be disqualified. End of really.

I would just like to point out that for the machine gun references and such, real world stuff is basically irrelevant. This is Star Wars, in case anybody forgot. The technology is centuries more advanced than ours, even though it apparently takes place in the past. Regardless, I'm pretty sure they found ways to decrease the overheating and inaccuracy of the weapons.

True, at least about overheating. But the thing about cant is, it's the force of the automatic weapon firing the bullet, and that, when the rifle is on your shoulder (or hip), is inescapable, as the longer bursts you fire, the more it rides up to the left, just because of the force of the bullet coming out. And to be perfectly honest, I don't think it would be great if we had every mercenary running around with machine guns that fire high caliber rounds, are fed by belts of ammunition and are accurate...it just gives them a way to wipe out everyone who comes near them. So...at least for the purposes of the tournament, I'm gonna say no to MGs.

That's really up to Boli, but I don't see any reason for him to get a bye to the final because he won the last won. If he wants to duel the champion, he can, but it's not going to be in this competition. It can be external, but considering this is a new version of the grand tournament, I see no reason why the reigning champion should automatically be in the final and this lot are only competing to fight against him.

He had the chance to sign up and he didn't, then claimed the thread wasn't open whilst he was awake (which it was).

:CIsee: That's it, i'm getting foreshadow to hurt you in his thread.

Ols, about the cant, the cutts compensator reduces that by A LOT, and can be integrated into almost any type of automatic weapon.

And its possible to fire a machine gun thats not mounted fairly accurately as I have done it before. Besides, they're mainly used for suppression anyway when they're not mounted.

Well I've fired a mounted GPMG and seen somebody fire it unmounted, using blanks, and I know the kickback and how much the cant will affect it. I've also fired an LSW, live, and I know how much the cant affects that, and that's less than half the weight and size of a GPMG.

And no armed force in the world gets soldiers to use an MG that is not mounted, they're built for emplacements and vehicles. Even Andy McNabb has commented that about the GPMG.

The S.A.W is a machine gun, and its not mounted, and troops in Iraq use it.

It's a light machine gun/light support weapon (LSW)...it's magazine fed and comes with an affixed bipod. You can use one of them...that's like a 30 round max before you need to reload, when I say MG I'm referring to a medium machine gun or higher (anything belt fed). The SAW and LSW is essentially an assault rifle with longer barrel and bipod legs. That's really the only difference.

Either way:

Assault rifles/LSWs are allowed.

MGs are not.

End of.

A s.a.w. has like a 200+ round clip.

No it doesn't. That clip would be almost three feet long. A SAW has the same magazines as the assault rifle they are based off.

The L86, which I have used, takes the same 30x5.56mm clip as the SA80, (which it essentially is) and the GP training rifles (all three of which I have used both live and blanks)

As for the US versions, their pretty much the same capabilities, but I think they use 7.76mm ammo, so would probably have a smaller clip.
