It was all worth it. In my opinion it is my movie of the year so far. I was blown away by this film.

This. Though I do not know if Inglorious Bastards will top this or not, hard to tell. Still, like Cloverfield did with a realistic "Giant Monster situation", this IMO seemed to be the most realistic "Alien arrival" movie, and makes me think on how disgusting humans can be to others.

Also...

I look forward to District 10, if you know what I mean. ;)

Cloverfield was not a realistic situation. You'd have to be a complete retard to keep filming, and it also had its fair share of cliches.

Er... you do know there are retards like those out there, right?

It was realistic(To a point, as you said it had cluches) to me because they had no idea what the monster was and people did not know what to do during it's rampage. To me, that is how it would prolly be unless someone saw it beamed down by a space ship or whatever. You could say you have a plan for what to do during a Giant Monster invasion, but I can safely say you, as well as I and many others, would panic.

If you look closely at the end of that movie during when they are filming the ocean at the fair you can see a small black thing come from out of the top right of the screen fall into the ocean.

bi-pedal catfood addicted aliens get stuck on our planet because a piece fell out that was the only way of powering it (major design flaw) who's fuel also happens to morph humans into a completely different species gets put into a ghetto despite having advanced technology are exceptionally dim-witted and easily capturable despite having the knowledge and technology to travel for 3 years with millions of their species in a ship is realistic to you?

I mean don't get me wrong, I loved the movie the metaphor was absolutely astounding but I wouldn't go as far to call it realistic...

It's realistic only in the fact that they had no idea what it was and there was panic. Yes, there may be retards like that out there, but consider this. The guy was with what? Four, five other people? One of them would've turned around, smacked the camera out of his hand, and just told him to run. The only time the camera served any purpose was the night vision in the tunnel, and it was only necessary for the movie so they could do their "File....Project Cloverfield" thing.

Well, considering we have yet to have Alien contact besides those MIB's in Roswell, something even more bizarre then that could happen if Aliens arrived to our world. We would have absolutely no idea what to expect, for they could be different in more ways then I can count.

Also Bac... alright. But realistically in the realms of any Fictional film, it was more so then alot of others done such as Godzilla and so many other Japanese monster films where aliens or mutation or radiation from nuclear fallout or whatever is involved.

No, I do not count King Kong as one since those were basically large animals and dinosaurs. Just wanted to get this out incase anyone made a reference to it. :p

I know, and I'm pretty sure J.J. said that was a satalite or something and not the monster.

The piece was the command module, not the way of powering it but the way of controlling it. I wouldn't call it a major design flaw, as if the ship was under attack they could jettison it and save all the important people. And the species was dim witted, but the movie clarified saying that these people were the workers of the species, not the ones that designed or created the weapons.

Pay attention next time. Gosh! :CStern:

Yes, because one 10 foot ship jettisoning is going to save the entire 1.5 million on board as opposed to having simple escape pods. Furthermore are you telling me that a species who advanced enough to have ships available for the working class that are capable of space travel of that level are going to be that ****ing retarded? Do we let our working class on a space ship? come on now, it was a bit flawed. Doesn't make the movie any less excellent.

Well, no but we let our working class on buses, maybe this is just their version of a bus. Or maybe it was a mass transport for the mentally retarded of the species, and the tiny ship with Christopher was the driver of it. Who knows.

Saw it last night. Absolutely brilliant movie, I loved every second of it. Also showed a very realistic representation of what power armor will probably be like: An agile and heavily armed, but relatively poorly armored, combat suit.
[I say poorly armored because in terms of AFV's, it is poorly armored. While small arms were largely ineffective against it, the 20 Mike-Mike Anti-Munitions (At least I'm pretty sure it was one of South Africa's 20 millimeter man-portable cannons) Cannon the MNU brought in was quite effective, and it's reasonable that a direct hit to the front chest plate would have instantly killed the guy inside.]

Anywho, yes, I really enjoyed the movie, and I wouldn't mind seeing it again for a second time.

Also, anyone else think it odd that the ship had so many infantry weapons aboard? Almost like the Prawns were expecting to get into a ground war.

I am defenetly seeing this again, and it's a must own on DVD IMO.

And I agree with you on the power armor, as I never even thought of that.

I guess they had all those weapons onboard because I'm assuming it was possibly a large city like thingy in the Mothership, and they prolly had a number of other things unexplained/unseen on there.

That is my guess.

I must be the only person who didn't like this film THAT much. I thought, and expected that it would be a lot better. It felt to me very slow at times, and didn't really pick up until the end. I don't know, i just wanted it to be better than it was. I had the same reaction to public enemies. Disappointment after disappointment.

This movie was horrible. The plot was cliche, the aliens were stupid, and it just moved way too slow. The ending was crap. I had to force myself from falling asleep because I didn't want my ten bucks to be even more wasted than they already were.
