PERSONALITY

Lorn’s desire is to be competent, efficient and accomplished while accumulating prestige and power. She cares deeply about how others perceive her, and their perceptions don’t have to be positive. They could view her as their living nightmare and Lorn would be satisfied if it would suit her intended relationship with them. She also derives her pleasure from manipulating others to do her own bidding, using subtle flattery and persuasion to make them think that it was their idea originally, or that a certain task their best interest. Her primary goal is to gain as much power and control as she can in the Brotherhood, both to secure her spot and to change things to her vision of how things should be done. Lorn does respect the leader of the Sith Brotherhood and their strength, but only time will tell if she eventually feels that the Brotherhood’s right to rule the galaxy will be better served with a new leader.

With a world-class education all her life and two University degrees, Lorn is more than intelligent enough to teach and conduct research at the various temples, including the Yavin IV temple she calls home. Her skills lie in social and political maneuvering, keeping her fingers on the pulse of the going-on, the who’s who, and the rumors of the galaxy. She also has a penchant for interrogation and torture, knowing when to press harder and when to back off in order to achieve optimum results.

Lahima Lorn was born on Timmel IV to a Theelin mother and human father. Her mother was the mistress of Republic Senator Reynold Eckstein. The circumstances of their relationship were complicated at best, and this is partly the reason Lahima took the last name of her mother, Diva Camilla Lorn. She grew up an only child, surrounded by luxury and privilege the first years of her life. Her parents afforded her little attention, having interest only in their busy lives and each other. Lahima was effectively raised by a legion of nannies, tutors, and personal servants. She was sent to an elite all-girl boarding school when she was thirteen. Receiving exemplary grades consistently through the years she was there, she graduated at the top of her class. She also excelled at singing as most Theelin do, winning a few singing competitions in her age bracket and participating in school choral groups.

After graduation, she went to a prestigious university on Coruscant renown for its music program. Lahima was mostly underground during this period of her life, singing in cantinas for money in what little spare time she had. She focused her studies on classical music, fine-tuning her signature sound to be a powerful, soaring soprano capable of both operatic and contemporary repertoire. After four years she graduated with honors, being Salutatorian of her class.

Lahima's music career started slowly-- she often starred as minor characters in various operas and supplemented with gigs in cantinas and jazz clubs. However, in many ways this was an advantage because it led to her starting another career in a different sector of sorts. On a typical night of performing at a high-class jazz club, she was spotted by the kingpin of a crime syndicate, Emilio Van Harker, and received an offer to be his mistress of sorts. Not wanting to pass up an opportunity to make more money and live in luxury, she agreed, though she wasn't aware of his true identity. After spending increasingly more time together, he slowly began acclimating her to his work of dubious legality. Within two years she earned his complete trust, being able to wrap him around her finger and ask for almost anything. Lahima gained a place of some power within the syndicate, albeit through Emilio and not entirely on her own...

Until she decided she'd had enough and secretly arranged for his death. A faked land speeder accident, which killed him and left her in the hospital but able to recover. Lahima spun her tale, painting herself as a saddened but resolute widow that befell tragic circumstances. After mostly healing from her injuries, she replaced Emilio as a major player in the Syndicate, among other things managing the distribution of illegal narcotics throughout the Core Worlds.

It wasn't until apprehending smuggled Sith artifacts that she discovered her Force sensitivity. Lahima would lock herself in her study, devouring tomes and scrolls of history. The few holocrons would reach out to her with whispering voices, promising power, attention, and a long life of beauty--all the things she craved most. For a few years she practiced her craft in secret, maintaining her cruel grip on the syndicate by day. Only when she found she could go no longer in her studies of the dark arts did she realize that she would have to seek tutelage under the Sith. Before then she had absolutely no incentive to leave. The syndicate promised power, control, money, and comfort. If she left she could never return.

After long nights of meditating she made her decision. She transferred much of her holdings in the syndicate to an untraceable bank account specializing in fronting for criminal activities, and collected some as physical objects like jewelry. She fled into Sith space, not fully anticipating what she would face when she arrived.

In some ways, Diva's admittance to the Sith was a joke. For a long time, she did live up to her namesake, and fellow students and even instructors placed bets on how long she would last as a lowly acolyte on Korriban. Gone were the trappings of wealth and status, fine furs and dresses, gourmet dinners on the highest balcony on Nar Shaddaa, and the relative security her former position provided. In their places were gritty sand, literal slop, and unending ridicule and sexual harassment. However, in the heat of the desert sun and the blade of a lightsaber, the old Diva burned away to forge something much more resilient, willful, and dangerous. Along with learning martial skills, Diva found great aptitude in the raw Force's application. Were it not for her greedy ambition and lust, she would have been a prime candidate for the Imperial inquisition. However, she would do anything to lie, cheat, steal, and outright murder her way to the top if she wouldn't get caught--or frame it on someone else.

Years later, she stands as one of the Order's notorious personalities. Her main reputation is being a complete, manipulative liar who won't give another the light of day unless it somehow benefits herself. Each and every action for another, unless superior, comes at a cost that WILL be extracted sooner or later, and on her terms. Notably, she has taken a liking to teaching acolytes basic force powers, meaning she spends a reasonable amount of time making her rotations at the academies.
