I really don't want my parents to divorce. I don't live with them anymore, but it would still piss me off to see them go through this. Has anyone dealt with parents divorcing before?

Yep, not a pleasant experience.

Yup.
Just let them do it and give them a lot of room... For several months.
Divorce, not pleasant but necessary.

I don't get it.

My parents want to, but are sticking together for my younger sibling. Almost wish they'd just get it over with.

Yep. Though it was great my father left my mother, because she was a crack whore.

I've been through two divorces, one when I was too young to remember, and one with my step father and mother. They are never fun and it's an unpleasant change but there is nothing you can do about it, just don't let it gestate inside or you'll wind up resenting them both.

My parents got divorced when I was about 11, I think. It was really hard on both of them, and especially hard on my older sister who was 13 (partly because of her delicate and emotional developmental stage, and partly because she was made directly involved due to some stupid mistakes on my mother's part), but I found it quite easy. One household full of screaming became two relatively peaceful households.

So I guess the only advice I can offer you is to not let yourself get involved in it, and to try to be happy for your parents. Chances are, if it's come to this, it's for the best.

My parents lived together but never got married. They broke up in a sense, but I don't think I can relate to you.

My parents divorced when I was 9 or 10, I can't remember.

what I do remember though is I couldn't ****ing wait until they did it. I was tired of running off with my mom to womens help centers and relatives houses for no reason.

Nowadays I live with my dad. Sure, he was a douche to my mom. But I love my dad. :CHappy

Actually mine did oooh....3 years ago or so? Seeing as all us kids were in our early 30's and mid 20's at the youngest and all parents now ourselves, It really had much less of an effect I think that it could have. And we saw it coming for years. It was not nasty, just...you knew they were just too different...sorta thing, and it was done friendly, and they still are very social with each other so they went from spouse to close friends.

My parents met at Oktoberfest, where I was conceived, they got married for a year so my mum could come into the country but got divorced before I ever got a memory of them being in the same room so not much advice I can give from personal experience but my aunt recently got divorced and told me, were it not that she's now on the verge of bankruptcy selling her house and supporting 3 kids it would have been happiest moment of her life, so if they really want to do it, you should let them be happy in their decision, I wouldn't want to spend the rest of my life with someone who secretly always pissed me off.
