Noticing Aren had ignored the comments by Silas, adopting instead a look of displeasure and humor, Varne turned back to Silas.

"I'm perfectly fine Mr. Amory. I was in the planetary security, I can deal with urban environments. At least I could pass a breathalyzer test. So what was the point of this little event? Blow money and waste time?"

"Secretes only stay that way so long, eventually evering comes into the light. But something tells me that you like shadows more than light. You seemed to be enjoying that book and glasses of wine all night long. You were out of place last night, as was Arritef and myself. None of us partook in the over drinking last night that type of party only leads to bad decisions and regret. So why have you brought us all together?"

Jace could feel that this man wanted something more, like he was waiting for someone to question him.

Before Silas could answer, Noah took a long drag on his cigarette and blew the smoke in the air in a puffy cloud. He savoured the taste and paused while attention drew to him. He had already figured it out... He could already feel it.

"It's about the Sith..." He said as-a-matter-of-factly. He took a mother drag and lazed his hip to the side, putting his weight on his back leg. He still stood in nothing but his jeans as he smoked in the apartment, flicking the ash at one of the scuttling service bots as bottles and glasses clattered during the cleanup. He he turned to Amory again and looked him in the eye. "Innit?"

"Well observed, Mr. Jacen..." Silas nodded approvingly, looking over the former SpecForce. "All the men in this room have a distinct feature linking them: they all want the Sith gone." Silas pointed to Krass. "You know well enough that the Republic refuses to do anything about the threat from the Northern Fringes." He gave Varne a look of worry and understanding. "You know the Border Alliance can't be more than a speed bump. So what else can a few businessmen and ex-military do to defend the Galaxy? Wouldn't you like to strip yourself of the red-tape that's bound you for years?"

Varne was certainly interested, but not sure just yet, "Please be blunt Mr. Amory. What are you suggesting."

"To lay it out plainly, Varne, I say we take matters into our own hands. I already have a number of debts I can collect, providing you with ships. Your colleagues here can find you men." He replied bruskly, as he hated being this blunt. He was a man that kept his true endgame to himself, rarely letting people know what he was after. "I have connections that can keep your operations under the Senate's nose." He gestured at Krass, giving the man a nod of recognition. "Safehouses and bases have already been arranged for facilities, it's now a matter of taking the helm... Admiral." Silas gave the last word some deal of emphasis, seeing it as Varne finally doing what he was always meant to do.

"For someone who likes to play games and keep secretes you are playing this awful open. What do you gain from this Mister Armory, as it looks now you are doing this out of the goodness of your heart. Which I doubt exists beyond a few things, the least of which is helping an almost complete group of strangers. Why would you offer this much power and control to anyone besides yourself?"

Jace was pushing for information, he didn't mind playing cards close to his vest when he could. But when something seems too good to be true it usually was, and this was way too good to be true.

Kalin nodded along. He turned a head to Krass, who was skeptically arching his eyebrows at Amory's speech.

"And by take the helm what are you suggesting? Gorilla warfare against a meta-human threat? Or are you wanting to become hired guns?"
