Drexlbane [creature]

• Thread Prefix: Drexl Predator

• Name: Drexlbane

• Biology: Roughly the size of a traditional Drexl but with a few differences. It is still a reptavian however it resembles more a Krayt Dragon than a regular Drexl.

• Breeding: The creature reproduces asexually only in the twilight of its millennia long life span, typically the offspring kills its parent. Only one exists at any point in time with the exception being only during gestation.

• Strengths: Large powerful beast with comparable abilities to a standard Drexl with the only difference being that Drexlbane is a semi-sentient life form.

• Weaknesses: Vulnerable to conventional weapons esp. large ordnance.

• Diet: Omnivorous

• Behavior/Temperament: Cold and Calculating, does not give into fits of rage. It is far too long lived a species to be trifled with day-to-day worries.

• Communication: Strictly via the force and a bond between an individual they choose to form one with.

• Culture: None
• History: Drexlbane is a legendary creature. There is always a bigger fish but in the case of the drexl, an apex predator of Onderon, the legendary Drexlbane is the only thing that curbs the drexl's population. Onderonian scientists and thinkers have always posited the creature's existence but there has never been solid proof.
• Planet: Onderon/Dxun

• Technology: N/A

• Intent: To facilitate my character's origin story. The intent is to use it as a literary vehicle to forward my character's training as a Jedi and Best-Lord of Onderon and subsequent recruitment into the Jedi. I understand that a Drexl is no small beast nor one that can easily be dismissed as a pet. It is not my intention to bring it aboard a cargo ship and take it everywhere I go. However I would like, if i'm not forced to kill it off in my origin story, to have it remain on Onderon for whenever my story brings me back there. I intend for Jakt to more-or-less use Onderon as a hub/residence and if interests bloom in the future, possibly create a Beast-Rider faction. I feel Drexlbane would be a neat storytelling device and she will be used fairly and responsibly.

You'll need to explain wto me why this should be over a thing instead of just using a drexl, especially given that this is a one-of-a-kind thing.

I wanted something unique. I realized after the fact that I could liken it to the big dude from Avatar. It didn't make sense to have a greater apex predator of the same genome. I also thought that Drexl's were a little too 'dark' and evil looking more than they were powerful looking and I didn't think that that kind of image would speak to my characters disposition. I have no problem making her a mutation of a drexl if that satisfies, or really just regulating her to a large drexl. Also, with the lore that I was planning on developing to illustrate my character's predestination it required something visibly different for the other beast-riders and their mounts to immediately recognize; i didn't just want to be some joe who rode in on what they already had. Definitely flexible and I want to satisfy the games necessity for balance and reasonability. Let me know what I should do.

Too. I wasn't planning on doing anything with her off of Onderon. The only time she would be a combat asset is if it took place on that planet. I could've even nerf her and say she has a tie to the planet and literally can't leave. For off world stuff I would bring something like a varactyl or a mechatauntaun.

"Because I want something unique" usually isn't a sufficient answer to custom content, especially since this is a complete species profile and not just a piece of tech.

well...when you put it that way. Although I do remember things of more substance following that e.g. apex predator, lack of a beast that speaks to disposition, plot line predestination. Too, I'm pretty sure the ONLY reason people create new content is because they want something that hasn't been made before hence the necessity to create i.e. unique.

Like I said, I'm willing to make the necessary changes, or do what needs to be done. But I honestly don't see any other reason why someone would want to create content other than because they want something unique that speaks to their character.

Why would one need to create a cat person as a species when there are already cat-like species on the wiki? Because they want something unique that is their brainchild.

Outlander is correct (in this one instance, which I jokingly say so it can't be quoted like Prudii did to Boli, lol :p). Uniqueness doesn't justify approving this. Especially considering its "rareness" and basically being a semi-intelligent drexl.

I disagree. New things can be made for that, sure. And I think that's fine to an extent; I do it with my tech sometimes. However, i'm usually not the only one that's able to use those, and it's adding something to the site's lore and collective base of tech. This is something only you will be able to use with distinct advantages over a normal Drexl, as well as being somewhat bare bones at that.

Okay. So are we disapproving? Do I need to change something? It's important for me to know what's required and where to go from here or what kind of reason for making something unique you're looking for. Should I just change it to a regular Drexl?

To be honest, making a more powerful version of something that already exists that only you will have rubs me the wrong way. I just think it's a flawed concept. But i won't be approving or denying the request, so it doesn't really matter.

Another issue is finding a picture of one. It's not easy to find something that looks like much.

Honestly, forget it. It's not that big of a deal. Drexl aren't disallowed so I'm just going to modify it for that. No need to put all this work into a non-issue.
