Dropped Calls

Following a brief exchange of communication, using intermediaries and other such cunning devices, the up and coming criminal piracy group known as the 'Dead Drop Pact' and the wily Hutt, Nor'baal Desajilic, hold a Holocall. During this the Pirates hope to gain the support or patronage of the Hutt Ambassador, whilst Nor'baal - hos morbid curiosity once again winning out - seeks to know more about those who seek to do business with him.....

_____________________________

It was oddly cold in the Embassies Nal Hutta Office, as Nor'baal waved away the small cluster of wriggling Hutts who had wished to discuss with him the finality and in depth detail of Trade agreements with the world of Rodia. He did not have time for them, and also failed to see what the Hutts actually saw in that odd looking world, inhabited by hideous odd sounding 'Rodians' anyway. Sliding into the communications lounge, he slid the door shut behind him, letting out a loud sigh of relief as he was finally away from the tedium of dealing with some of the more laborious members of his race.

Become Ambassador, it is an honor, it will be fun....they had said to him. He shook his head, it was not fun, it was a chore - the only good part being the contacts he made along the way. Bounty Hunter Brokering allowed him to top up his modest Ambassadorial Allowance, as did the usual fees the local dealers paid him, but it was not really enough - and as always, the Hutt desired more. He was a small fish in a big pond, a clever one, experienced and known to not be trifled with lightly yes, but small fry regardless.

That had to change, and as such it was with a modest amount of trepidation he accepted the scheduled call with the man he knew currently only as 'The Pirate'. The image flickered into life, as the man appeared before him in all his holographic splendour.....(@Benvenu7)

Durak had been waiting for this call for a while, having taken a lot of time to prepare for this call, now it was time to make a good impression, no matter what people say Hutts are powerful and having one is clever with you does help a lot, so preparing several presents for the Hutt when the time was right, for now it was simply a meet for the pirate. He would offer a choice to the Hutt and would no matter what would be readying to give the Hutt some gifts that would show the large slug how much he wanted a partner and adviser. Even if Durak have been doing well he is still only a pirate and man who is already feeling the dark side corruption, so having someone to balance him out would be great for the growing criminal empire.

Durak was wearing a cloak to hide his body, not his face though showing that he is willing to reveal himself to the Hutt, though it was a small thing it would mean a lot from a group trying to hide themselves from everyone. For now Durak was on one of his ships in the middle of outrim no where near his own bases so in the end his bases will be still hidden, once the hutt appeared in front of him, the pirate gave a half bow a sign of respect most of which has never been given to anyone.

"Hello grand Hutt Nor'baal, my name is Durak, but you can simply call me 'The Pirate', I am thankful that you have agreed to speak with me, I will not waste your time though. As you most guess the Dead Drop Pact is planning on expanding I would love to know if you would wish to throw your support with us?" Durak did not like wasting time and he was sure this Hutt didn't either, he only said enough to flame the Hutts potential ego if there was one.

Durak would make sure that he appeared emotionless hoping to not give off any indication of how he felt, he did not trust Hutts but he knew that they are figures in the underworld.

Offering a small nod of deference in response to the mans bow, Nor'baal was somewhat taken aback by the pirates abruptness - however it was not that shocking given the nature of the mans profession, which ill-afforded him time for pleasantries. Likewise it was not surprising that the pirate had also failed to address the Hutt in the correct manner, however such professions rarely attracted the greatest minds in the galaxy. Nor'baal had a a vague understanding of who the 'Dead Drop Pact' where, but he would be lying if he said he held them in high regard, or indeed new enough about them to do so.

<Why?> he stated with force, for the Hutt was interested as to exactly why this pirate band wanted his help. More importantly, what would be need to do, and what would he get as a payment for such assistance? <Why am I the one you have approached? And what would my 'advice' cost you?> he asked, by way of making his questions considerably more clear. Pressing a small button on his data-pad the Hutt called for a Hookah pipe to be brought in, which arrived before he had finished his question.

As the pipe was set down, the Hutt dismissed the servant who had brought it in, and turned it on - taking a large drag from it as he awaited a response from the pirate before him on their holo-call.

(OOC: sorry for the long wait.)

Durak had knew what he wanted to come out of this meeting, Hutts were connected since that is how they get anywhere, and he was placing his bets on this Hutt to go somewhere, if so than might as well have some whose on a good track so far. Besides with a Hutt close to the Republic and other official and with his standing with the Hutts, no doubt Durak can help the man get more power and if the Hutt believed the DDP is helpful no doubt will try to help them. A beneficial relationship is something he wants, and having allies is important, especially with a person like Nor'baal who is only interested in gain, that is something Durak can easily manipulate to his favor. Smiling completely fine with a man having a bit of force in their voice, it is something that Durak actually liked, it showed they had at least some back bone and that is something the pirate can respect.

"Simply right now I am getting into the spice trade, our organization will be opening up markets and having someone as clever as you helping with connecting my organization with clients, finding targets for us, and advising us during sensitive matters. Of course I won't ask something like this of you without giving you some incentives." Durak hoped the idea of gifts would interest the hutt but the Pirate wanted it to seem that the DDP has resources to spare more so than there actually was.

"Two gifts will be given to you one for your personal pleasure the other, to show you the many benefits that will come from working with us." Durak will just let the sentence hang waiting to see if it interested the Hutt or not, the pirated wanted to know what made the slug tick and if the slug would prove easy to manipulate or not.

OOC: I did my waiting, 12 years of it, in Azkaban.

Nor'baal was pleased with the Pirates pitch thus far, as Druak was dangerously close to bucking the trend that all pirates could lift a tonne, yet alas could not spell it. Shifting slightly, and ordering that the camera be readjusted to allow for him to rest into his recliner (after all, it was a scientific lie fact that to much standing could damage the spine), the Hutt listened to the entirety of what the man had to say before responding himself. <You show prudence* in wanting to seek counsel before attempting to break into the spice market Pirate.> he said calmly, aware that many Hutt families had interests in the Spice Trade as well.

However, Nor'baal was interested, as a challenge was always something to be tackled rather than avoided in his eyes, but before he would continue, he wanted to be sure of what was in it for him
<Tell me more about these gifts, and I shall tell you if this venture would be worth my time.> he concluded, beckoning for the Pirate to make a display of his intentions, and to show that he could bring rewards to the Hutt in turn for the Hutt aiding him.

OOC:
*lololol Prudence.

Durak smile become more apparent almost evil he was glad how this was going so far, of course he will need to keep a close eye on this hutt he knew that this Hutts suspicion was good it showed brains, and that he will be worth the price. Now that the hutt asked for the gifts he decided that it was best to show at least he can make some serious claims, and that his organization can deliver once the gifts arrived.

"How does a ton of some of the purest spice in the galaxy, for your personal pleasure sound. If that isn't enough what about having your own place to control, a district on Nal Hutta, where you can collect credits and either put yourself or someone else in charge of the district, a small part of Nar Shadda, but prove we can provide for you if you help us. Of course later when you have proven that you can help us, the gifts will be more glamour's. So does the sound of having your own personal shadow army sound? All for the low price of that big brain of yours." Durak did not want to come off as arrogant but at least prideful in his organization abilities, as long as things were going well hopefully Nor'baal will realize that this was a good chance to have his own little army behind his back.

It was a good deal helping manage the DDP for the ability to have the DDP help him with muscling himself into power and giving him the pleasures that all Hutts desire, if this pitch worked than hopefully he will be able to seal the deal soon.

It was always good to be appreciated, and for that appreciation to be recognized with gifts and bribes (as was the custom of crime) but there was something else he would need to confirm as well. Just how intertwined with this venture would he be required to get?

It was something that the Hutt would need to make very clear, and as such he would revise down his expectations from the man - so that the payment Nor'baal received was more befitting an advisor rather than a member of the DDP.

<You are most generous indeed Pirate, but I must respectfully inform you that I cannot become a full member of your band, and must remain instead as an advisor, a respected and valued council to your organization.> he boomed. Whilst equally as valuable, the position of advisor was more fitting to the Hutts skills and contacts base he felt.

<As such, your gifts, and the tithes from your operations on the glorious jewel will suffice for now, and as I prove my worth, may the gifts keep flowing, as my knowledge proves its value to you.> he finished.

There was no point in Nor'baal making some threat about what would happen should the Pirate betray him, as it was somewhat of an unspoken rule that bad things happened if you betrayed a fellow criminal - such was the way of life.

His part over, the Hutt waited to hear more specifics about what immediate aid was needed, and what long term desires and plans this pirate had.

Durak listened to the Hutt and just smiled knowing that the this wasn't a invitation just a show that he can provide, plus the second gift served two purposes rather than just a incentive to work with the DDP.

"I understand, but I am willing to give you the second gift for the purpose of having a place to have our meetings. A good neutral place where we can really have a good old fashion face to face meetings if things goes well." Durak said knowing full well that the Hutt possible will not join but at least if the Hutt accepted the gifts especially the district he can have a way of keeping a eye on the Hutt even if it doesn't show that much.

"But enough of gifts, the reason I called for your aid is simply, I will soon be in possession of a large sum of spice, and soon I will expand into the slaving market, but I need someone to advise on who and what are good targets to be removed or negotiate with. I hate to work blind but at least this way I have someone with connections helping me work my way to the top. Of course the more the DDP has, the greater the gifts for you. For right now there is nothing I need but in a few short cycles I will contact you again hopefully that will be when you prove your worth." Durak did not have need of the Hutt right now but soon once the mine and the spice lab was his, that will be when he will need to speak with the slug, over pricing, who to sell to and how to maintain the facilities.

Nodding, the Hutt had already worked out a few people - contacts of his - that could be included in this little scheme of the DDP's, ones he could have on board by the time the man and his gang had secured the Spice mine. However, trhe Hutt also had to warn the Pirate to be careful.
<I would advise caution, ensure that this spice you are targeting is not owned by someone aligned to the Hutt clans, as if it is, I cannot help you.> he said, ensuring he made his position excpetionally clear.

<However, once you have secured this produce, I have a few contacts who may be able to assist with the distribution of the goods for you, and I can arrange a meeting - presided over by me of course to ensure peaceful discussions - to take place at your convienience.> he intoned, before awaiting for the Pirate to agree, so that he could get to work.

Durak listened to the Hutt glad to see he was already attempting to advise, so Durak was ready to take the advice free of charge right now, knowing that going after the Hutt clans right now wasn't the best option. But still the Hutt already have buyers which was very useful in the pirates plans, showing his dark smile the man gave the hutt a formal bow as a show of respect to the large slug.

"Much appreciated, I will not of course go after the Hutt clans and cause any problems with you, for now prepare the meeting, I will love to meet these contacts of yours."
Durak said knowing that this might be a trap but one he will have to risk seeing as it will be a sign of trust and could potentially provide paying customers.

"When the meeting is ready contact me on this frequency I will be waiting."
Durak said waiting a moment before ending the call, and once he did he jumped back and released a heavy sigh.

"Glad that is over." Durak spoke to no one but himself glad to be done with the call, not that he hated the hutt but it felt just different than anything he is used to, not really one for formal meeting and such seeing as he is a simple pirate and all.

But the smile never went away, it would seem that Durak had at least made contact with a good adviser and no doubt a potential ally in the later stages of the plan.
