(Matsu, Andreus and X'jan)

A special training area had been set aside on The Will of the Force, a large open space specifically for the purposes of the training that the Battlemaster himself was preparing.

Three hand picked students, pulled from a larger group for specific training in the art of duelling.

The floors were slightly padded, racks of training weapons tucked away in one corner, as well as a collection of eclectic objects, each of which had been gathered by Augustus today, for this precise training session.

All that remained was for the students to arrive.

"This is sweet!," X'jan exclaimed quietly to himself, "First training from an awesome Master, now a class with the Battlemaster himself! I'm gunna be the coolest dueler yet!"
X'jan continued down the corridor to the room where the class would begin. Entering the room, it seemed like he was the first one there, apart from Augustus that is.
"Hey!" he said to the Battlemaster, "What're we going to be learning today?"

Matsu walked and entered the room slowly as she looked around at the stuff. This was the correct room and she was excited but had to be at peace. She could give a girlish squeal every time she was picked for a special class. So she looked at the other student who was in there and heard him speak. He was young as she slid her coat off and stood ready with her head bowed. The battlemaster could help her with Ateru and her sword skills so she was ready. With a look at the battle master from her bow she kept her eyes on him before coming up and pulling it into a tight ponytail to keep it out of her face. Then she quickly slid her tunic off and double checked the sarashi. It could offer protection at a bare minimum and Matsu quickly slid on and tucked her tunic back in taking a respectful stance. "Master."

A durasteel doorway slid open to admit the last student to the class, Andreus Makaryk. An exhausted padawan was he, but having to endure twelve-hour sieges of the mind without any specific training in mental defense tended to wear down on almost anyone. He had weathered the darkness, despite learning of his past that was steeped in it. Perhaps that was why the Battlemaster had summoned him for this class, despite his state of exhaustion. Andreus had spent all his strength fighting the urge to drop hyperspace, divert, and hunt...the urges thrust upon him by his own dark history. A couple of days in the infirmary simply hadn't been enough rest.

He entered the room and looked around briefly before picking a couple of training lightsabers off one of the racks and sitting down on one of the mats. He didn't even bother to say hi. Andreus wasn't talkative during the best of times; he dared not speak unless directly commanded when his voice still sounded parched from the absolute hell he had endured only days before. Talking just seemed like a waste of oxygen while in such a state.

"You have each been gathered here," The Battlemaster began, "To learn. To duel, and to grow."

He shed his robes, and touched a button through the force, which caused panels to move, revealing a variety of training sabers, enough to satisfy enough the most unorthodox of styles.

"I would have each of you tell me your aspirations as far as the blade goes. Your form, your progress. Then we will begin to train you."

Augustus gestured for the padawan's to begin.

Matsu looked at the training blades as she walked over and grabbed one and felt the weight. the blade was hooked so it had an easier reverse grip as she spoke making sure her blade was near her other items. "Battle master I would like to master Ateru and turn it into Trispzest. I have practiced and learned levitate and have a minor way to fly. I have been trained by my adoptive mother in Ateru since I was little master."

[if there is a posting order sorry, trying to cram before I have to sleep. Work in the morning.]

"Aspirations... Big word. Well, I wanna master Djem So, I want to duel wield it, one normal grip, one reverse, and I reckon that Telekinetic Lightsaber combat would be awesome," X'jan replied to Augustus, selecting two training lightsabers from the rack. They didn't look as cool as his real ones would, but they served the same purpose. He pulled them over towards him, and began to rotate them around himself on opposite sides, slowly at first, but he sped them up as much as he could. He couldn't do this while they were ignited, but it was a good start.
"As you can see, I have practiced levitating my lightsabers, but I don't quite have enough concentration to have them ignited and moving around all at once."

There was a reason why Andreus hadn't bothered to say hi, yes there was. He still hadn't fully recovered from the Dark Side-induced heatstroke he had suffered the other day, a rather nasty side effect of the twelve-plus hour struggle with his past beckoning him to drink the darkness then. It had nearly killed him; even now, its aftereffects robbed his body of moisture, parched his voice, caused it to crack. The padawan hoped he might be forgiven for rasping out the exact minimum number of words required to answer the Battlemaster's question. Pleasantries and titles of respect didn't make the list of required words.

"Little...training," Andreus rasped, his voice cracking on that second word. His eyes darted around in desperate search for a water fountain, but he didn't see one, so he didn't bother to expend the energy to get up. Even if he had found a water fountain, he would probably spend half the class guzzling from it anyway to try to recover from the other day, so from the Battlemaster's point of view, it was probably just as well the padawan have to make do without. He'd only been here a very short time, so perhaps the lack of training was to be expected. "Interest...Jar...'Kai."

Augustus was a little surprised when Matsu mentioned Trispzest. Incredibly unusual for a human, and in his opinion, not worth the effort it would require. It wasn't his place to judge though, he would simply instruct her in Ataru, and hope that the force kept her from getting herself murdered.

Reaching out in the force, the Battlemaster slid back panels from the wall, revealing a variety of training weapons.

"Arm yourselves, and we will begin your training. Firstly, Matsu will duel X'jan. Afterwards, I will duel Andreus. Begin once you are ready."

He looked over at Andreus, the man was clearly suffering. He probably needed medical attention. Augustus was a decent field medic, he had had to patch up more than his fair share of wounds in his time, but Andreus looked like he was in real trouble.

He reached out to the nearest infirmary, and informed them of Andreus' requirement. It would only take them a few minutes to arrive, and begin treating the man.

"Ready when you are, Matsu." X'jan said to his new opponent. Looking over to the other student, Andreus, he saw the boy was clearly in pain. Maybe he could help him somehow. He ignited his lightsabers, hold one in front of him, and one behind. If the girl he was fighting knew Ateru, she would probably be jumping over him to attack him from behind, so he had to be prepared.

Matsu looked at X'jan and she held the blade letting her face drop from friendly to detached. It was her mask somethign she learned to do when she was little to not show pain. She crouched down low and pushed the force into her legs as she jumped up and kicked off a wall using the force of the kick to push forward and increase her strikes strength. Quickly she flew forward and made a small swipe while her eyes looked at the boy and wall she could kick off of to the roof and slam the ground.

[the last part is not what she is doing but in her head thinking]

Seeing his opponent spring into action, X'jan kept watching them as they bounced off the wall at a fast speed, but he had already thought through what he could do to counter a move like that. It appeared, for once, thinking had paid off. X'jan jumped towards his opponent, twisting his body around and sideways, parallel to the ground, and spun fast enough so he would be constantly protected by this lightsabers, and also had a good chance of hitting his opponent.
Sure, this strategy wouldn't be good to use constantly, but it was the only one he had thought of for now. After passing his opponent, X'jan twisted his body so his feet faced the ground, and managed to skid along on his knees, in a kneeling position, now facing his opponent, ready for the next attack.

(OOC: Please don't tell me y'all were waiting for me...)

The assistance the Battlemaster had summoned arrived quickly, although the medics who brought precious re-hydrating fluid could only treat the physical symptoms of a much deeper problem. Andreus went through four gallons of the fluid, something like a sports drink as it replaced salts lost to sweat as well as water, per day, though that was still a marked improvement over the twelve gallons of it he'd consumed just two days earlier. The padawan quickly guzzled a full gallon of the stuff; his thirst was slaked. For now. He felt better, physically at least.

But that would be temporary and fleeting, because he still needed to recover from Force depletion. He had spent his strength--all of it, only two days before, alone with the Dark Side attempting to consume him for twelve and a half hours before he could finally reach assistance. It had been a severe test of endurance not even many Masters would ever experience in their lifetimes, and even days later the encounter left its mark. Andreus felt continuously drained of the Force--as if a Sith drained him ceaselessly in a torture chamber, albeit slowly, not as quickly as he had experienced in the earlier stages of his recovery. The rate of loss had slowed, but over hours it still became painful, and the timing of this session had become most unfortunate. Andreus had signed up for it before his encounter with the Dark Side, with his own dark past, and he hadn't been able to timely recover for this session. The Battlemaster's schedule had been too busy to postpone it, so here the padawan was.

Mercifully, the Battlemaster had directed the other two students to duel first, buying precious time for Andreus to recover what stamina he could. He directed his thoughts inward, upon a rejuvenation meditation the sage healers had taught him in hopes of speeding his recovery. His physical symptoms suppressed for the next few hours, he would find the meditation substantially more effective than it would have been in his previously dehydrated state. He summoned the Force to him, storing its energy like a capacitor so he might recover the stamina for a duel. He hoped the duel between the two other students proved long, that he might have a bit more time to recover before the Battlemaster decided it was his turn. Jedi didn't always get to fight under ideal conditions, and the padawan recognized that. Andreus would have to fight more conservatively than he otherwise might, with an eye toward preserving his stamina under the lingering aftereffects of his Force depletion, but silently he hoped today wouldn't be a complete waste after all.

Matsu passed the padawan who did a slide and twist as she came to the wall and pushed off it up into the air. Quickly Matsu spun around and levitated as she breathed in for a brief second and kicked off the roof into a large overhead slam using her weight [somewhat] and her velocity to make a stronger Falling leaf strike as she did the jung ma spin keeping the saber infront of her. If she struck him it would be strong with her feet coming forward into a kick and if she missed she was going to send a push around her body to back him away to regroup.

[Kit if that is too much let me know. I have been told I do a little to much sometime]

Noting his opponent was not in pain of any sort, X'jan figured his attack must have missed. But so did Matsu's. Seeing his opponent bounce upwards in a way which irked X'jan so much, he leaped up, aided by the Force, and let out a great wide swing to where Matsu was headed, planning to hit her when she bounded off the wall. X'jan fell to the ground, twisting to face his opponent while in the air, holding his lightsaber diagonally across his body in a blocking stance for once he landed.

Matsu was surprised to see the boy that close when she kicked off and met his slash with her own blade using the force to keep her up as she concentrated. He was fast and good but she could levitate and gravity took him back down while she floated and looked down at him. Slowly Matsu watched him turn and prepare to block as she crouched and kicked off the rooof. She had a new plan and spun around bringing it down in a falling leaf as an overhead slash. She was prepared for a block and curled a little to kick under their blades into his chest as she made sure her grip on the saber was tight.

As Matsu had predicted, the attacked was blocked without much trouble. But X'jan wasn't prepared for his opponent's kick, and was knocked to the ground. He rolled to the side and jumped back up, swinging his saber from right to left, bottom to top, before taking up a defensive stance.

Matsu looked at X'jan when he backed away. Then he swiped at her and she moved her blade up to defend the left to right slash then turned her hilt 90 degrees for his downward slash. Quickly she backed away and twirled the blade gripping it with both hands and holding it downward to her left barely above the floor. Matsu looked at X'jan and kept her eyes focused pushing the force into her legs and ran at him with one upward slice from his thigh to his shoulder. She had the speed advantage and pushed everything into her leg muscles as she tried to move like a blur before he could react. Her chest was burning from the exertion but she wanted to show she could do it to the battlemaster. He could teach her better.

X'jan couldn't block the attack in time, but jumped to the side instead. He took the blow on his shoulder. In a real lightsaber fight, he would have just lost an arm. Lucky it wasn't real. X'jan spun around, aided by the force of the blow and the Force itself, swinging his saber as he went. Then he took up a defensive stance, on the balls of his feet, ready for another fast attack.

Matsu felt X'jun saber as it singed her hair, her speed kept her from a slice across the back and she spun around on the balls of her feet and felt where a section of her hair had been burned. Slowly Matsu looked at X'jun and nodded in approval. He was fast but didn't seem to be pressing, may have been a rope-a-dope where he waited until she exerted herself. If so then he was doing a good job, slowly Matsu grinned as she held her blade above her head pointed at X'jun and crouched. Matsu waited for him as she prepared a counter in her mind. He would attack and she would block with a flowing water cut to get close and then put her elbow into his face. Their height difference meant he would have to strike downward more so now that she was crouched.
