The conflict between the jedi and sith slowed down as fast as they had started. The attack on Anoth, the home he had known most of his life had left Duncan devastated for a time, but knowing the Jedi would never get out of their whole by sulking and sitting around feeling sorry for themselves the young man forced himself to come meet the Grandmaster here on Bakura, although Duncan had gotten exited to meet the Grandmaster never mind possibly learn from her. The thought put energy in his veins.

The planet was a newer alliance, one that probably still needed some personal assurance on the part of the jedi which is why Ebb stuck around, at least it was what Duncan assumed was the case. Such matters where non of his business really even though he would have loved to help in the negotiations.

The two where to meet in Salis D'aar, the capital of Bakura. The place was close to the city walls making it easy to go outside the city into the wilderness or go into a building somewhere, which the Grandmaster was going to do was unknown to the padowan but it really didn't matter training with Ebberla was way to awesome to think of other things. Arriving at the coordinates he was given, at least what he hoped were the coordinates he was given Duncan saw no Grandmaster and so the padowan stood looking around waiting for Ebberla to arrive, whenever she might do that.

Ebberla taken the time to visit with padawans, she found a peace within passing on what she knew. Especially after the attack of Anoth, the Jedi would need one another more than ever, and her guidance. She told Padawan Heyes to meet her in the capital city of Bakura. She didn't mind it, she found it unusually small compared to the rest of the cities in the galaxy. It made it easier to keep track who entered and left the city with only one space port in the city. Regardless, with less sentients, she was easily able to track the padawan.

From what she gathered from the Padawan, he was struggling to find someone to lead him along the Way. She wanted to see how much he knew so far, hopefully he knew more than he believed he thought. Ebberla took the hover train downtown to the coordinates where she instructed him to meet her. She was dressed in civilian clothing, her head covered though to prevent curious onlookers and to conserve energy under concealment.

He stood alone, she could feel the doubt he was beginning carry that he was in the correct spot, but his thoughts would be put at ease as she revealed her identity to him.

"Hello Duncan, find this place easy enough?" she asked.

With the Grandmasters arrival the young man had a rush of energy. It was happening. Duncan was actually meeting the Grandmaster something he didn't think would happen in a time were the jedi were so spread out. Having nearly missed what Ebb said in excitement the padowan had to think for a moment to figure out what she had said. He had heard lace easy enough?" The first thing to figure out was what in galaxy lace meant. Being a fairly bright boy he assumed she meant place as they had only just arrived at a meeting place, and by easy enough he assumed she was asking if he had trouble finding the location.

Yes Master! I didn't have to much trouble at all. The coordinates gave me everything I needed thanks for asking.

Hoping there would be no more small talk the young man looked at the leader of the Jedi wondering what she would be teaching him today while hoping if he did well she might take him as even an apprentice for future training. The possibility's were endless in everything and only the person in front of him could cut them down and make the padowan focus.

"Good, lets take a walk then, shall we?" she said leading the way through the streets. She folded her arms, her senses spread out as she focused. "So Duncan, what can you tell me about the Jedi code? What does it mean to be a Jedi in this day?" she asked him.

She was interested in what it meant for padawans like him to be interested in becoming a Jedi. She wasn't sure what his answer would be, they all have been through a lot. There was a lot to doubt in the galaxy, she faced many of the Order who doubted their existence, but pushed for many to keep their faith within the Order.

"So Duncan, what can you tell me about the Jedi code? What does it mean to be a Jedi in this day?"
As the young man understood they would talk about the code he quickly went through it in his head.

"There is no Emotion; There is Peace
There is no Ignorance; There is Knowledge
There is no Passion; There is Serenity
There is no Chaos; There is Harmony
There is no Death; There is the Force"

What did it mean though? It was something he was asked multiple times before the attacks started on the temples. The older Jedi would often tell the Padowans to really go into the meaning of the words and truly understand them and Duncan had tried, knowing everyone would likely get something a little different from the words.

Responding to the first part of the question he said "The first line, There is no Emotion, There is Peace, it means the jedi must know there emotions and come to peace with what they are but not denying them or suppressing them. The second line means we should always try and learn all we can before acting no matter where you are. The third line There is no Passion, There is Serenity. It talks about how a Jedi may feel emotion and understand them, they must also be kept in check, and to never give way to brashness, recklessness, and passion, which could very well lead them to the Dark Side. The forth line talks of how we are supposed to see how all things are connected through the force and that nothing is random or out of place and the last line sais the cycle of life is not to be mourned, but accepted and even celebrated because those who die become one with the Force.

As to being a Jedi today. I... I don't know. We were supposed to keep peace, balance but it seems we failed at that. So I guess we should be trying to make up for that and return balance. So fighting the sith I guess, or at least trying to free as many people from their grasp as we can.

His answer was long but it felt as though that was what the Master wanted. A good explanation of were the padowan stood in the realm of the code and his thoughts of what and why the jedi were around and their role in the galaxy right now.

Ebberla adjusted her cowl, listening to the padawan explain the Jedi code from the Jedi before the establishment of the New Jedi Order. He obviously had spent time studying, however, she knew that was not the code she meant. She was aware many of the padawans and Knights of the Order still respect the older code, using it as guidance as they tried to find causation to consequences.

"Very true, however, that is the code used by the Order long before our births." Ebb explained, she didn't find reason to discipline the padawan for not knowing, but she would make sure to guide him on what he needed to know.

"The code I want you to focus on is the one established by former Grand Master Skywalker. That one states: The Jedi are the guardians of peace and justice throughout the galaxy. We use the Force in the pursuit of knowledge, to defend, and to protect and to respect all life in the galaxy, no matter what form they may take. The Jedi do not rule others, but serve for the better welfare of the galaxy and in order to do this, we must improve ourselves through knowledge, training, and self-discipline." She paused as they stopped at the corner, waiting for train to pass before crossing.

"So what do you think that would mean for a Jedi?" she asked, though she knew it was a pretty straight forward code, nothing too encrypted for the padawan interpret.
