DESCRIPTION
Designed from the ground up to combat Droids, or soldiers with heavily modified armor, the EC-13 is the first evolution of electronic based weaponry. While the supercharged, electronic arc shorts out electrical systems, it also hits organic targets with a stun effect, that will become lethal if sustained on a target. The weapon is big and bulky, slightly heavier than a light repeater, but only has the initial recoil of the arc being cast. The recoil is further mitigated by a strong stance, and use of the forearm grip. Though heavy, that weapon is easy to maneuver, but one does need to be grounded to have any kind of effectiveness with the weapon, as such the weapon cannot be used to full effect while in sustained flight. The range and arc of the weapon is essentially cut in half, and the lethality of the weapon takes a dip as well.
After the initial charge of the weapon, the damage done by it depends on how long one continues one continuous arc of lightning. Short bursts are useful for stunning an enemy in light or medium armor. Longer bursts of up to one second can fry electronic systems like an EMP. Two and three second continuous bursts can cause heavy electrical damage to one's body, and holding the trigger for longer, can over heat, and risk damage to the weapon. Anything longer than three seconds causes overheating and melting of a battery, and permanent damage being done to the weapon.
LEGALITY
While this weapon is an exceedingly rare weapon, it is not illegal for military personnel to possess one, as it is technically marketed as a less-than-lethal weapon system, despite it's potential to fry enemies within their armor.INTENT
To essentially make a weapon to rival the Wadjet Flame Projector, and provide users with a balanced lightning rifle with some utilitarian uses.ADVANCED TECH
Yes. This weapon has just recently come out of it's prototype stage, and as such, it is exceedingly expensive, and difficult to obtain, even on the black market. While legal purchase is possible, you almost always have to know somebody. The most likely way to obtain one is through a direct theft of the weapon from the BlasTech facility or Byblos(M-12), as these two facilities are the only two. A DMed thread is mandatory, as these facilities closely guard their products, particularly their limited production, and military grade weaponry.
