The piddling patriarch of the Wisties squeaked out a reply to Dakka, as it fluttered about his head, proclaiming in the high-pitched language of its people that the Ewok was true. Narpoo, meanwhile, eyed their surroundings with caution, keen as a small group of the Wisties approached, and started to communicate with the same voice - some bizarre connection between them allowing their combined squibblings to echo out in the native tongue of Ewokese.

He didn't question how this was possible, Narpoo was merely thankful that it was.

"We will not bother you for long, tree-folk. Dakka and I seek only to pass through your cave, to get closer to those who have done harm to us and our kind." Narpoo spoke to the cloud, which chirped to itself before replying "Passage?" it asked, Narpoo taking a cautious step back lest he had caused offense.

It took a moment before Dakka realized those Wisties were speaking Ewokese just then. He blinked himself out of a daze with that white tree, eyelids fluttering as fast as the firefolk’s wings. They speak our tongue! They are Ewok friend!

Narpoo took a step back. His friend wanted to take a step forward. The cloud had not spoken angrily, as far as Dakka could tell anyway, but curiously. No, concernedly. That was only natural for a folk like these. They are defenders but defenseless, in a sense.

“Passage to my village, Okirakak. It has fallen prey to the Duloks.” Dakka said firmly as to those who harmed his kind. He gulped after he spoke the word. The Wisties were themselves prey of the Duloks, but had he overstepped his furry feet? “They take the food of my territory and the water of Friend Narpoo’s.”

There was a great murmur then, the cloud appearing to fly in and around itself. It reminded Dakka of the elders in the hut back in Narpoo’s village. “Duloks! Duloks!” The Wisties echoed as one, resulting in that same single voice. “Destroyers and usurpers! Curse them!”

Yes! Dakka wanted to roar the word, shake his spear, but settled for silence. He had a feeling what might be his new companions were doing all that for him.

As realisation dawned on Dakka, Narpoo began to understand that these mysterious creatures, the stuff of Ewok folklore, were friendly. He remained somewhat more cautious, however, sticking behind Dakka as he spoke to Wisties. He was brave, but not that brave.

As Dakka mentioned the Duloks, Narpoo watched as the mood of the cavern changed, the Wisties buzzing becoming agitated as their hosts expressed their dislike at the Duloks.

Cautiously, he stepped forward as the Wisites buzzed in anger "With your help, we can show the Duloks that their way of life is not one we need here on Endor." he banged the butt of his spear on the ground, mimicking Dakkas movements, as the Wisties buzzed further. "If you come with us, we can show the Duloks that Endor is united against them!"

The fervor was infectious, spreading between both Ewoks and beyond until the entire cavern seemed to permeate with the passion of rock and bark, leaf and spear, and there two shook. Dakka banged his on the ground beside his friend. My brother!

“Endor, Endor!” Dakka cheered and chanted. Narpoo had the right of it. We are not Ewoks and Wisties. We are Endorians.

They were just as much one and the other but, united, the two folks would become the forest and the cave, the ground and the sky, and what enemy could end them?

“The age of the Dulok is over!” Dakka looked left, looked right, took a breath and then a step forward. His fingers flexed on haft, his other hand formed a fist, and though it shook before the Wisties it was aimed at their enemies. “The time of Endor has come!”

The Wisties flashed suddenly in such a way that at least one Ewok was mesmerized as much as terrified. They buzzed and hummed, amid their wings and amid their tongues; flew round and round in flame and fury till the air itself might have caught on fire.

“Ewoks! Wisties!” The firefolk chanted, cheered. Several broke formation to flutter and dance before the two Ewoks—with honor, not harm. “Duloks!” Others set fire to a pale mushroom that Dakka recognized for foe, not friend. “Endor, Endor!” They cried. “Endor!” The cry swelled, became a roar. “ENDOR!”

Dakka Skoochee slapped a hand on Narpoo’s shoulder, lifted his spear and gave his voice to the rock and tree. “ENDOR!!”
