Emaela’s sharp, green eyes peer at you from a thin, hawkish face. When not pulled back in a twist or bun, her long, black hair billows around her face and thin frame. At 5’ 7” and far from physically bulky, Emaela relies on her wit, speed, dexterity, and concealment skills when her curiosity gets her into sticky situations. Given the ongoing conflict, she opts to wear medium armor instead of the traditional Jedi robes.


During happier times as a youngling, Emaela often wore a mischievous smile. Usually after finding an especially valuable piece of salvage or pulling some prank or another. Since beginning her training as a Jedi and becoming aware of the atrocities happening across the galaxy, her laugh lines have faded into a solemn expression. She searches for reasons to smile, but they are often few and far between.

[/tab][tab=Biography] Emaela was born on Brentaal IV to an 18-year-old force-sensitive refugee named Apherala Sycron. Apherala was soon after discovered by Jedi and convinced to leave her young daughter and join their ranks to defend the galaxy. As such, Emaela’s only memories of a family are of the scavenger-trader couple that took her in.


Though they weren’t blatantly abusive, they simply valued Emaela for her use in collecting treasure, particularly from hard-to-reach places. As a scrawny child with a “knack” for finding things, she was a valuable asset. Reflecting later as a young adult, Emaela realized how tenuous her situation had been, and wondered how she would have fared if her force-sensitivity hadn’t provided her foster parents an income in valuable baubles. Still, she was fed and sheltered and led a relatively comfortable childhood. That all changed when a passing Jedi recognized her force-sensitivity and brought her to the Temple on Jedha for training.


Emaela she was still a youngling when she began her training, but the ongoing conflict meant that her education was rushed and truncated. Combat forms did not come easily to her, and she was pushed to her limit daily. She barely attained passable mastery of lightsaber combat. Instead, her strengths lay in heightening her mental acuity and senses. She also took a great interest in meditation and altering her immediate environment with the Force.

Having mostly participated in small skirmishes and more covert missions, the battle on Ilum was one of her first experiences with the harsh brutality of war. Sensing the burst of dark energy from the dark kyber crystal, Emaela survived only by throwing up a raw force shield on pure instinct—an act which completely drained her and almost killed her anyway. Even upon regaining consciousness, it was a struggle for her to move, and it was days until she was able to make her way off Ilum.




Battered in mind and body, she has returned to the only home she knows-- the Jedi Temple on Jedha. Despite having great faith in the Jedi Code, she disagrees with the many paths the Jedi sects are taking, and finds herself close to despair at seeing the Order so broken. She has continued to train and meditate with the Jedi Guardians, trying to make sense of her experiences and help determine the best path forward. [/tab][tab=Personality]

Stoic and calculating, Emaela takes the Jedi Code seriously. She constantly strives to realize its truth, and is dedicated to cultivating rational thought and mindfulness. She will even go so far as to voice criticisms of her superior’s decisions if she sees a more effective solution or if she thinks their judgement is clouded by emotion. She has an adaptive, quick mind and relies on wit and problem solving rather than brute strength. Her meditation practice enables her to pause between stimulus and reaction, to reflect on the best course of action. She is naturally curious, and enjoys seeking out mysteries of the galaxy and puzzling over the Force.
