What are the Jedi? Are they defenders of the Galaxy? The protectors of the Galactic Alliance? Or are they the worshipers of Ashla, otherwise known as the Light Side of the Force? So many designations for the same thing. So many truths for a single phenomenon, a single reality that can be perceived in a way that when counted, reaches infinity.
As such, the Jedi have been perceived as many things, especially with their development throughout the ages. The old Jedi Order held differences to its successor, the New Jedi Order that Luke Skywalker propagated. The old order protected the Old Republic and now the New Jedi Order defends the Galactic Alliance. Just like the symbiotic relationship between the Jedi and Republic of ancient times, the Jedi of the present was seen as the symbol of the Galactic Alliance's protection and peace, warriors in times of trouble.
But what is the symbol of the Jedi? What do they carry as their sigil? Unlike the Sith, their nemeses that lust for Bogan, the Dark Side of the Force, the Jedi hold no gluttony for power. No ambition. The stoic monks, they are to present themselves as. But while they bleed their beings with the Light Side of the Force, others instead assign the symbol of the Jedi. Cloaks were a fashion statement that never returned to becoming a fad with the birth of the New Jedi Order, removing that from the list. The lightsaber is seen as the symbol of the Jedi, but is a double-edged sword, as the Sith carry such weaponry as well, though notably generally red-bladed. Thus, a symbol, a statement of existence and recognition, was decided. Just as Coruscant is seen as the representation of the Galactic Alliance, most notably its government, the temples of the Jedi were designated as the symbols of authority for the Jedi. This was the opinion of the public.
And the opinion of the Sith.
From the beginning of the Third Galactic Civil War, the Sith strove to usurp their competition in the Force, the cavaliers of Bogan against the chevaliers of Ashla, the ancient rivalry and tension that has lasted thousands of years. They had learned from experience and knew the destabilization of the Jedi and their tropaions would be needed. Thus, the Sith decided to target the citadels of the Jedi. The first to crumble was the Will of the Force, which sparked the declaration of war against the New Sith Imperium. Then, the fallen Jedi Aiysha Remy blew up the Coruscanti temple, killing three Jedi Councilors and the Imperial Knights' Knight-Commander, Bellatrix La Rouge. And today, they sought the annihilation of the Sage Halls on Empress Teta. The temples falling would cause a disturbance in morale.
Generally, whenever a Sith conglomerate attempted to sack the current galactic hegemony, it was the Jedi to thwart the Sith schemes. Bastilla Shan redeemed Darth Revan, who subsequently slew Darth Malak. Luke Skywalker defeating Darth Sidious, whose empire lived in the present, mutated by change and exchanges of authorities, from the Imperial Remnant to the Fel Empire to the Elyurius Empire to the New Sith Imperium. Jedi always managed to defeat the Sith in the end, but plagued with a nature that rarely led to them eliminating the Sith once and for all. A Sith always survived, to breed the next generation. And the current generation was led by Darth Exodeus and his wife, Empress Andraste.
Andraste was not always a Sith. She was a Jedi, a student of Sage Master Jhon Cordatus. However, evil befell her and she eventually joined the Sith. As Darth Exodeus' apprentice, who was an apprentice himself of Darth Judicar, she fought her way up the hierarchy of power, from acolyte to master. However, Exodeus was fixated on the woman. He loved her, in the only way a man twisted by the Dark Side too. Unbeknownst to him, Andraste bore him a child, a daughter named Lana. However, a glimpse of light still shined in Andraste, and she sought out the man who could protect the baby from Exodeus - her former master, Jhon Cordatus. The former student and techer, the latter now the Grand Master, met on Lehon, but were soon found by Exodeus. The Dark Lord of the Sith and the Grandmaster of the Jedi Order duked it out in the ruins of the mighty Infinite Empire refuge. Darth Exodeus was victorious that day, and with the thought of her anchor to the Light Side, Jhon Cordatus, dead, Andraste lost all hope and despair drowned her in the Dark Side. Though while in reality Jhon Cordatus survived alongside Andraste's daughter Lana, the Dark Lord and Dark Lady, soon married, believed the ancient meddler of the Ardos-Oro Prime War no longer among the living.
And thus instead a figure in a grey cloak stood on the bridge of the Star Destroyer Redemption. He was not alone. To his left stood the master of illusions and famous alchemist, Geist Weiss. To his right stood the Chiss Sith Lord, Arch'aza'cnuruodo, otherwise known as Darth Vendis. Both Geist and Hazac were known as the Emperor's Hounds, but it was evident this man in the middle seemed to hold significance. The crew knew to fear the denizens of the Dark Side, and kept their distance. Only one approached, a Sith acolyte named Barrel. The Bothan acolyte bowed.
"My lords, I report that half of our people have evacuated. Darth Vires and his apprentice, Arcturus Wolfgang, among them," informed Barrel. Geist grinned. It was good news that Arcturus Wolfgang was alive. The illusionist made a mental note to talk to the man about Snikch Hettoran. Unfortunately, and Geist was not sure if it that misfortune was greater towards Operation Homecoming or Barrel, the acolyte was not finished, "I regret to inform you that while we did eliminate the Jedi's Battlemaster, we failed to detonate the bomb."
Hazac glanced at Geist. "So much for that plan."
Geist nodded. "Indeed. I'll have to speak with my bombmaker. If it didn't detonate, despite us pressing the switch, then that means it was either defused or defective; preferably the latter."
Waiting for the Sith Lord and Dark Master to finish, Barrel then continued, "Furthermore, we have had a few Sith captured. Among them are Darth Inanio and Darth Tarak."
Darth Inanio was an acceptable loss, in Geist's mind. Instructors were always coming and going. However, the spymaster, Royston Spektor, christened Darth Tarak, was a hard loss indeed. The alchemist had not been happy the head of intelligence had gone into the battlefield. With luck, the operations in play would not be disrupted. Still, it was time to act, with the figure in the middle.
Barrel began to choke, struggling for air. However, he soon lacked the oxygen to breath and was unable to sustain bodily functions, dying before his body was released. Hazac overhead an officer say "Damnit. There goes another one." However, that comment was ignored, as the figure in grey spoke: "Start the transmission."
It was time. The time the crew of Redemption had been waiting for. The final phase of Operation Homecoming. Using the communication systems that Geist Weiss had hacked days earlier when he conversed with the Jedi Council via hologram, a transmission was being broadcasted throughout the Galactic Alliance, with a secret trojan horse hidden in the data, meant to infect any system it could by transmitting data to the New Sith Imperium and corrupting computer systems. However, the speech would be heard.
The speaker was the man in grey.
"People of the Galactic Alliance, citizens of the corrupt democracy leeched by the New Jedi Order. I greet you all, with salutations and respect, not only as fellow denizens of the galaxy, but to be able to let yourselves to led by the Jedi Order. You may call me Darth Vitium." His hood hid his face, but a kind smile could partially be seen, as if he truly cared about the civilians of the Galactic Alliance.
"Most likely, you'll ignore my hospitality. Feel I am evil, without knowing who I am or even my situation. That is the way the situation has presented itself. Prejudice, by the Jedi Order. They do not appreciate the teachings and beliefs of the Sith, so they label the Sith as evil, forgetting that the Sith of the modern era originate not from the Sith Purebloods, but the Jedi Order itself. We are brethren, and the Jedi push us away. For centuries, war has carried out between our two unions. I confess the Sith did act appropriately, and generally caused a lot of harm. However, it is the discrimination of the Jedi that do not allow for redemption of the Sith. The present Sith wish to create stability and prosperity in the galaxy. However, when the Jedi's flagship was destroyed, the Jedi immediately seized the chance to wage war with their nemeses of old, not even carry or checking to see if the Sith had indeed destroyed the Will of the Force. Lamently, I inform you brave citizens that the Sith had nothing to do with the destruction of the ship, nor the temple on Coruscant, which we believe was executed by the Imperial Knight who was present at the explosion, Bellatrix La Rouge." The bomb at the Sage Halls failing to detonate seemed like a blessing. It had not broken the propaganda Geist Weiss and allies had woven to blame the Imperial Knights as the destroyers of temples, not the Jedi.
"This war was brought on by the Jedi Order, who while preach harmony, wish to eradicate the Sith, to wipe them out like animals. I see no reason for this violence that the Jedi Order has brought upon you. For you see, the New Sith Imperium has come to an epiphany. They realize the current government of the Galactic Alliance, its Chief of State and Congress, are pawns to the Jedi Order and corrupt corporations. A purge is needed, as what was needed towards the Elyurius Empire, that was drowning in sin and corruption under Emperor Luthor Elyurius and his marauding enforcers, the Imperial Knights. The Imperium shall help you, free you from the bonds of tyranny that has played silently for decades under the Jedi's watchful authority. Beric Karasun felt ashamed and wished to stop, but was dethroned before freedom could be restored. The Imperial Knights killed Councilors loyal to the people and not money. And let us not forget the countless Grandmasters who have come and fallen, due to unrest and ambition amongst the Jedi. The Jedi claim the Sith are the betrayers, yet the Jedi betray their own. An entire exodus led by Matsu Ike to the Imperial Knights is one such examples of the vices that plague the current Jedi Order.
"But unlike the Jedi Order, the Sith are willing to let the Jedi live. We understand that most are only misguided. I myself was once misguided, but I have seen the truth, and the truth has set me free. I am a Sith Lord to free you from the misguidings of the Jedi. However, the Jedi continue to resist us. When we came to visit the Jedi after my associate," he indicated Geist Weiss through a simple hand gesture, "informed the Jedi that we would be coming in hopes of signing a treaty to end this needless Third Galactic Civil War, we were shot done. Our people were forced to defend themselves and fight the Jedi at the Sage Halls. Their Battlemaster was the most vile and wrathful of the Jedi present. He attempted to kill Darth Vires, but Vires was forced to end the Battlemaster when the Jedi gave him no other choice but death, for stubbornness has blinded the Jedi into warmongering. In this tragedy that befell Empress Teta at the accursed Sage Halls, the Jedi have captured two of our comrades, Darth Inanio and Darth Tarak. We hope the Jedi are willing to meet us at the negotiating table, so that prisoners from both sides may be returned to their comrades.
"This example is just one of many to show that the paradigm of the past has reversed. While the Sith were once the aggressors, the Jedi have taken their place. They fight in hopes of exterminating a Force sect that branched off from them. This is a fine example of religious persecution. Some Jedi see themselves as gods or messiahs, governing over all, believing the common people are unfit to decide for themselves. I once was tempted by these vices, but no more. Now, in order to reach a prosperous future, I walk alongside the Sith, to free the Jedi from enslaving you with the politics of government and law enforcement. The talent of the Jedi is to make you feel that you are being protected and saved, but in reality they are keeping you in the dark and ignorant, so that your morale will be easily manipulated against anyone that dares blaspheme the Jedi. Chief of State Valafar Lamartine was one such person, and notice how he suddenly had an unexpected and inconvenient heart attack. These transgressions by the Jedi Order must be stopped. I once tried to prevent this pandemonium and vileness from the inside, but it was all in vain. Thus, I stand by those who are the true saviors helped by the Force. The ones who carry the true Will of the Force, rather than mock it by naming a ship after it. I was once Jedi, and now I am with the place I should be, where all of you listening should be. I was a leader in a corrupt society, and now I shall become a leader for you once again, to guide you to the light. The Sith are your redeemers, and redemption is coming. Redemption the Galactic Alliance. Redemption of the Jedi. Redemption... of the galaxy."
The figure in grey decloaked his hood, revealing his face to the masses. He smiled with kindness and lament in his eyes, saddened for the people of the Galactic Alliance who were pawns of the Jedi.
"I am Jhon Cordatus, and I approve this message."
