Coruscant
Upper levels
2101 local time

Music boomed from massive projectors, holograms danced among the neon lights, and rich people clamored in and out of clubs. Jako had not been in the entertainment district since his first years of college, but he'd missed it. It was difficult to reach the social status needed to be here, but he'd managed. His new job as a journalist for some tabloid network had proved to be pretty profitable, even though he'd had to throw aside his morals. Such was life.

He was walking by himself, since he had no friends that could afford this night out. Either way, his childhood friends all had other stuff to do, whether it was work or they were off-world. Nothing out of common here. Coruscanti were a busy people.

Jako shrugged his leather jacket a bit closer to his body as a splash of holographic water came his way, then rolled his eyes at himself. He'd actually done his make-up tonight, a pretty gloomy look among the colorful masks everyone wore. He'd put on a more extravagant outfit, since he knew he'll be out of the media eye--his black jeans even had studs on them!

Seeing a club without a very large line, he ducked inside. A mass of neon lights clashed in his vision as he stepped onto a large hall teeming with lights and lasers. Below the light show, masses of people formed a massive writhing sea of different dances.

He headed for the bar, of course.

It had been a while since Korre had been to Coruscant, and she couldn't remember ever having visited the planet with the sole intent to party. That being said, she couldn't even remember the last time she'd been to a nightclub. Though she still loved to attend parties, this sort of scene had not been on her radar since she graduated. Things likely would have remained that way for a while, but when Korre received the birthday invitation from Effie, she knew she was going.

Effie was a Twi'liek from Coruscant who had attended the Auden Belasi University of Senta with Korre, and after meeting at a party similar to the best, the two hit it off. They were a "thing" for about a year and a half, though their relationship was less of a relationship and more of a friends with benefits situation. They had fallen out of touch though, so the invitation to Effie's birthday on the ecumenopolis was a welcomed attempt at rekindling their friendship.

Korre arrived to the scene with Effie and the Twi'liek's other friends, dressed in a chocolate-colored dress with a pseudo-corset that emphasized the curvature of her figure. The senator usually wasn't keen on wearing makeup, but for an event like this, she had applied a light foundation and painted her eyes in a dark brown smoky eye look. With Effie and her group in tow, Korre passed the archway and entered the club.

Immediately she was greeted by dancing bodies, holographic displays in thousands of colors, and loud music which enveloped the air. They headed straight for the dancefloor, but after half an hour or so, Korre broke away to check out the bar. She had a particular craving for a certain brand of whiskey she'd tried on Chandrila, and at a place like this, she was sure they would have it.

The red-headed woman slid onto a barstool next to a man just shorter than her, and called over the bartender. She ordered a few fingers of whiskey, then waited for it to arrive.

The music was booming freely, and Jako had to yell to the bartender to be heard. He sat back and waited for his shot, a single thought on his mind.

Can I smoke here?

Most fancy nightclubs in Coruscant had special smoking rooms, an attempt to distance themselves from typical "lower class" cantinas. Jako was half worried that would be the case here, and then he turned to his left and saw a man smoking a fat cigarra a few meters away.

Jako reached into his pocket and pulled out a pack of thin cigarras with a strange alien logo on them. He grabbed one with his lips and then lit it. He inhaled deeply, smoke erupting from his nostrils as he exhaled. This was a special pack from Kessel--cigarras laced with spice. It was the perfect thing to loosen him up as he rubbed shoulders with the extravagant and arrogant upper classes.

A woman sat next to him and ordered a whiskey. Jako exhaled another hit to his left and then turned to the woman on his right. It would be hard to speak over the music, but he knew just what would serve as a good introduction.

He took the cigarra out of his mouth and then motioned toward the woman, as if asking "Want?"
