History:
Since 2002 terrorists attacks had existed in Algeria and surrounding countries. Although the Algerian government did manage to quell much of the group and seemed to almost stop it completely near the end of 2008. Unfortunately, it turned out to be the calm before the storm. Early 2009 the terrorists struck in force killings hundreds of civilians and military personnel. This quickly eroded faith in Abdelaziz Bouteflika and his administration as it seemed the current administration was almost completely unable to cope with this sudden surge in violence. As a result during the next election Muhammad Jabbar found it easy to win by campaigning on platform of destroying these terrorist groups. He then carried through on his promises and began to systematically hunt down the leaders of the groups mainly through greatly increased funding to the military and police forces. Since then the government has been taking advantage of the rising costs for oil and natural gas to bolster the economy. At the same time the military has been pushed closer and closer to modernization especially in the army. With the downfall of America and as it seemed the world was heading towards war the government made preparations to defend against an attack as well as launch an offensive of it's own. Nationalism became a major topic within Algeria and the rumors that neighboring countries supported the terrorist attacks a few years are flying all across the country.
