The bardottan turned his attention to Councillor Rem Shivaaga who decided to ask a question. It was when the question was asked - or rather how it was asked - did Bruce realize that they might not be talking in hypotheticals now. Bruce brought his arms forward and crossed them at his waist as he stood tall.
“I would agree with the Grandmaster's request.” Bruce stated flatly, “What Master Ward did was criminal, as such he should be located and brought before the council to answer for that crime. Not only was it wrong but many innocents were lost that day, and the Order suffered for it.” Bruce began to look at the councillors as he continued, “The actions that day will never be forgotten. The many deaths, and the death of our Grandmaster at the time have left a stain on Jedha. The Force was wounded that day.”
“Some would argue, a life for a life. I would disagree with that statement. Revenge would solve nothing, except drive the Order for darkness. We are the Light and we should remain as such; we cannot compromise or forsaken our beliefs for something as this. A trial for Master Ward will allow him the opportunity to explain himself - so we can understand what went wrong… what we as an Order did wrong. While I admit, my judgement maybe skewered, but I don't think he can justify his actions… he is still allowed to explain, to talk.” Bruce brought his attention back to the councillor who asked the question, “Justice will prevail, and it should be allowed to.”
Bruce concluded his speech. His entire explanation, he remained confident in his tone. There was no malice either. There was an obvious truth in the statement about being skewered and believing nothing Spencer could say could justify those deaths; and I'd there was Bruce couldn't fathom any reasoning.
